adam love will live on!!!!!!!! Wait what tour? Rent?
The other "love" threads are getting annoying. Because they last for a week at the most then die. And there's a million of them.
Definitely can't let this thread die! I can't help but worry that I haven't helped, because I tend to be more serious than a lot of you. The thing is, I really enjoy when it gets crazy and silly around here, just am not that way myself much. (See amasis' depressing list of book titles, apply 3/4 of them to me.)
I got off line before I saw your list, amasis, but thanks for looking those up.
See, but it helps. I'm silly by virtue of my age, I guess - but I do enjoy the more-than occasional serious discussion. So, I'm always glad when you can get my brain ticking, even about Adam.
Okay, so I wrote my review for my theatre class, but I'm reluctant to post just in case, because my professor works in the NY theatre circuit. I figured I could turn to y'all. If anyone wants to do me the huge favour of reading it and giving me even the tiniest bit of feedback, I'd really appreciate it. PM or IM me.
Cam, congratulations on getting your tickets. I'm sure it'll be a big emotional night for everyone. I hope you won't have as long a trip to the theater as Allie did!

Allie, that was your first time seeing the show, right? What if anything surprised you about seeing it live?

What surprised me... Hmmmm, that's an excellent question.
I'd never actually seen a real live professional production before, only high school shows. At the beginning, I kept waiting for little things to happen: line flubs, harmonies that weren't quite right, things like that. Then I realized that these people were all trained, and had been performing the show for a long time, so they all knew what they were doing.
But things that really surprised me? I don't know... Angel dancing on that table without breaking bones was pretty impressive.
I guess I was also surprised at just how emotional I got. I mean, I'm always crying, like when I first listened to the recording all the way through, so I thought I'd be over it by now. I was wrong! I was incredibly moved by the whole thing.
(See amasis' depressing list of book titles, apply 3/4 of them to me.)
Aww... but it wasn't supposed to be depressing at all... I just thought it was amusing that they had individual books for each little thing. And anyway, there is nothing wrong with most of the traits on that list .
The thread won't die, Emcee. Rob may be forced to lock it sometime soon, but it won't die. You know once Adam has something going on, nothing in our schedules could stop us from jabbering here...
It'll lock at 1000 pages, I think. Adam, come home so I have something to babble about!!
Meanwhile, Emcee is having it out with the personification of naivete on the main board. wooo!

I rely on this thread to hear all about what's going on with Adam, since I never get to see anything firsthand. But you can bet if they ever do a 'ten year anniversary' thing with RENT, I am GETTING TO NEW YORK CITY.
I didn't realize it was also your first professional theater show - what a way to start! One problem I have with live performances is that I sometimes get very nervous for the performers - not always, but occasionally. I think the first time was when I was a child taking piano lessons and went to see someone's (professional) recital. I was a nervous wreck for the guy! Fortunately I can usually relax and enjoy.
However, I did get quite nervous for Adam on The View even before he came on and was nervous.

Chloe, I'm the same way!! I'm always nervous for performers. I have to remind myself that I really have nothing to do with what happens, so i can relax.
So do I, especially when it's someone I care about.
Guys, check out the fiasco on page two of that main board thread about the RENT screenplay. Emcee's breaking out the boxing gloves.
Yeah, I saw that. Another newbie, I assume, if he or she is doubting your faith in Adam! People care so much about this movie, so much seems to be at stake. I can imagine some of them camping out to be in line when the movie opens, things like that.
*grumbles*
Apparently she just thought it fun to pick a fight. I'm not sure what she really thinks.... whether what she originally stated is truly her opinion and now she's trying trying to get me to lay off, or if she really was just messing around. *shrug*
I guess it's not important, but the Emcee Adam love line does not get crossed. *folds arms defiantly*
I can imagine people camping out, too. I'll be excited, but I'm definitely not going that far. This will be in the midst of final exams, probably, so I'll have to see it when I can.

If it comes out during the holiday season, I'll probably have to wait until I get back to school to see it if they do different release dates for different places. Grrr, I wish our theatre didn't suck.
I could be reading it wrong, Emcee, but I thought that all she was saying was, 'why are people getting so worked up over it?'. She didn't express it very well, but that was how I took her initial comment. Or maybe I just did that because I tend to have the same thoughts over the discussion that has happened over RENT. I like serious discussions, but the discussion about the RENT movie script has been a bit out of control. Too many people liking or hating the idea for all the wrong reasons.
After all these commotions, it will really be interesting to see how the final product actually turns out.
Yeah, she basically was asking why people care so much, and then followed that with "well, all that matters is that we get to see Adam and Taye," and my response had something to do with some people caring about more than just that. She didn't express her thoughts very well, and I'm in a fighting mood after several bouts of stupidity having overrun the boards in a few instances today. I also haven't been sleeping, so misreading on my part is probably possible. *shrug*
Yes, you do seem in a particularly feisty mood right now!
*little flames ignite in Emcee's eyes*
::hopes never to incur the wrath of Emcee::
I listened to Aida all the way through for the first time in a while, and I still just love it. It totally baffles me when critics, like whoever reviewed the new tour in LA, dismiss the score.
I promise I'm not scary. And I only try to be if you severely piss me off, so I don't think you need to worry.
The score is the strongest thing about AIDA, and I think was one of the only things that allowed it to survive as long as it did, because it wasn't completely overlooked on Broadway. People knew it was the show's strength, and credit was given. The songs come up on my playlist, but I still can't listen to the whole thing. I'm an idiot.
AIDA's score is amazing. It's one of the few recordings that I can listen to without skipping any songs.

I loooove the music from Aida. The way the Enchantment Passing Through reprise is written... I cry every time I hear it.
Yay! FFTB came on! An upbeat song to listen to while I read the Odyssey. (groans)
