The girlish squealing as she goes up scared the hell outta me.
Hey everyone!
Okay, let's see. Mary, aww, wish you enjoyed it more. But I'm really glad that you gave such props to the orchestra, one of the reasons I adore ALW so much is his orchestrations(or more appropriately the orchestrations for his show) are gorgeous! I love them!
Gesthemane is great, but NOTHING compares to Michael Ball's rendition of that at The Royal Albert Hall Celebration for ALW. I'm assuming Liz sang I don't Know How To love him and what was the first song, Superstar? Judas's death? Too bad, I love the JCS music, sounds like the sound was a big issue.
Joseph I love Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door is my fav, were those songs sung and if so who performed them?
I'm sure Liz's Memory was great, she was great the Symphony Space Concert I went to and her and Lea Salonga's "I Still Believe" from her concert was just amazing to hear.
I love Max, did he sing anything besides Starlight Express? I like that song, how about Light At The End of the Tunnel? Too bad they didn't break out the roller blades.
Did they just do Sunset Boulevard(good song) or As If We Never Said Goodbye(my fav song, esp. when sung by Elaine Page!)
Weird choice of the money keeps rolling in from Evita. You knew they'd do Argentina...think my fav song is A New Argentina, but I guess that's hard to do w/o everything in the scene going on and a bigger cast of performers. Ooh, Another suitcase in another hall would have been beautiful and wonderfully appropriate. Or High Flying Adored, I think those 2 and Don't Cry For Me is what I would have had them perform, what was the third song?
Glad you enjoyed Phantom, for some reason I think of John and think Raoul, he could have been one of several to play both roles.
For a much better performance of all of ALW's wonderful music, try to get/find "Andrew Lloyd Webber: The Royal Albert Hall Celebration." Fantastic performances there, Michael Ball sings Gesthemane(can't listen to any other version of that), Vaults of Heaven, Love Changes Everything, and All I Ask Of You w/ Sarah Brightman(gorgeous). Oddly, SHE sings music of the night, and phanton w/ Antonio Banderas..she kind of trumps him. Donny Osmond w/ an adorable children's choir sings Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door. They have a great gospel choir and singer for "Superstar." Glenn Close does some songs from Sunset, including some scenes. They break out the rollerskates for Light At The End of the Tunnel from Starlight. Elaine Page does a kick-ass rendition of "Memory"(original London Grizabella), and Don't Cry For Me Argentina, while Antonio introduces w/ her "Oh What A Circus" and the requiem takes place first. There's a little bit of opera he wrote, cello solo from Song and Dance, and a couple other things. This DVD prob made me fall in love w/ ALW's music, and a great orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall.
Wow, Andrew was back? Was my pencil used in murder again??
Kerrie, kind of had a moment of "oh yeah, you saw Feeling Electric w/ me!" How great was he in that?(How great was the show?) And most importantly, how little did you cry? I mean seriously, you were like stone cold!
Hehe did you just review the show Mary attended now WRQ?
Wait...Cat, I'm confused...were you referring to the questions I was asking or the fact that the DVD I was talking about featured very similar performances to the live concert Mary attended? I feel like somehow you were poking fun at me, usually I understand those things...
Of course Kerrie, NEVER. You make me feel so pathetic when like I cried at certain parts of Feeling Electric, or little moments in other shows we've seen, when you sit there not shedding one little tear...
he's ba-ack....

From John Cudia's bio in the program:
Before joining the Broadway company of The Phantom of the Opera, John played Raoul and performed the role of The Phantom with the national tour. (skipping some stuff now..) .... He made his Broadway debut in Les Miserables, playing such roles as Enjolras and Jean Valjean and proudly holds the honor of being the first actor to have performed both roles - Jean Valjean and The Phantom - on Broadway.
And I enjoyed the singing, but being someone who plays an instrument, I couldn't ignore that the orchestra was obviously better.
I wanted to slap some people that were yawning and checking their cell phones during the overture's/orchestra pieces.
Ugh, that reminds me, that during intermission one girl who was sitting in the front row was listening to her iPod. What, like you hadn't just listened to enough music in one hour?
I was curious to see what she was listening to, but she was way to far away.
Oh, and all of the old ladies were wearing their fur coats.. and one of them touched my neck.
I died a little on the inside.
