I actually liked Santino's garden dress. Yes, it was a little "stiff," but the concept was good. The skirt reminded me of a flower, which I liked. And he did some nice stuff with the leafwork at the waistline.

Chloe's was really pretty. So was Dan's.

I think the most talented thing this show ever had was Austin Scarlett (should have won last season, if you ask me).

Daniel V. comes closest to that Austin thing for me - feminine yet creative and very inspired. He's my pick for the winner. He has vision and spunk, which I think some of the others are missing. Seems like a nice kid too.

I do miss Andrae, though and I'm disappointed I can't laugh at Zulema and her big grandma glasses anymore! She was a nut.

About Santino's dress-I didn't hate it-don't get me wrong. I didn't mind it that much. However, that was supposed to be his shining glory, his ticket to ride, his money shot! I'm saying if that's the best he can do, then I don't think he belongs in there anymore.
Peach, I'm such a flower person it's ridiculous-I would have loved an entire dress of flowers!

i don't think that garden dress was supposed to be the best thing Santino could do, just because he's holding himself back so much for the judges (both positively and negitavely don't get me wrong) i think if this weren't a competition with these judges, Santino would have made a much different garment and it would probably have been better... although I LOVED his dress and thought it should have won

I think it would have been cool to see an entire dress of flowers. I bet a lot of them didn't use flowers because of the wilt factor and flower's delicate nature. I think they went shopping one day and had to present the next. Imagine a beautiful garment that was a dress of dead and/or broken flowers by the time they made it to the runway (some flowers wilt in minutes)!

It would have been pretty to look at though, if someone had taken that risk and succeeded.

Oh I was just going by what Santino said into the camera-that for the garden task, he would make something really great (or words to that effect), so that he'd get immunity and then could go back to being shocking for the next task.

this was to human torch

Yeah - I wish Santino would just sitck to the assignment and stop going for shock factor. I think he's very good, but sometimes he goes over the top. He needs to learn some balance.

His grafitti dress was blah.

i'm so sorry andrae is out. i think a collection from him would have been interesting. his work differed in concept and execution from week to week. he didn't continue to go to the same well time after time. i believe he has depth. his flower dress was actually witty. it was very 60's VOGUE. i enjoyed kara's tremendously as well and that surprises me. i generally do not favor her garments overall. she is haphazard mentally and her clothes are boring. i loved santino's comment that he wanted an automatic in so that he could send the most offensive thing he could think of down the runway. he likes to shock. he is quite an adolescent that way. such a catholic school child mentality (i have it myself, believe me -- nothing is better than shocking some bossy, dried up old nuns once in a while) the comment that he doesn't think of the woman has been quite true. he is outrageous and fun for a tv show, but i wouldn't want him making an outfit for me. so sad to see tarah, IMO, the most lovely of all the models, gone because of zulema. notice how rachel is walking so much better because she likes nick's clothes and he is sweet to her. zulema was toxic and her clothes were a mess.

ps. as someone who used to work with flowers and spent lots of $$ every week at fischer & page --$100 buys very little in the way of actual flowers. daniel was quite smart to showcase the blossoms he had the way that he did. also, orchids cost beaucoup --BUT they have staying power and won't wipe out like roses and other blooms.

Have y'all seen the Santino-as-Jesus image on his web-site? This other blog (link below) has an amusing commentary. (Scroll down to Feb. 3rd).

They have really toned down the Santino-as-Devil editing, and allowed him to be more likeable. I think the Nick-Daniel-Chloe final three is possible, but it would be--IMHO--a mistake. Santino-Daniel-Chloe would be my choice, as much as I think Nick is a sweetie; Santino is a better designer.

HOLY CRAP! WTF!!!!!!

Santino definitely should have been out tonight, that jumpsuit was horrible and unfinished and GLUED together- glued!

Nick at least finished and even though it made Daniel look femme, it wasnt out of the ordinary for Daniel V.

UGH! If that oily haired annoying Jesus looking freak makes it to the final 3 I will be SO done with Project Runway. Even last year when Wendy Pepper beat out Austin for the top 3 it wasnt as horrible as this.

You know why Santino stayed? Becuase he's good for ratings!! The whole thing is slightly rigged!

At the end of the show, there's a little blurb that comes up regarding how the judges base their eliminations on both their own judgements and the judgements of the show's and network's big wigs. That is, the people with a financial stake in the success of the show have control over which designer stays and which goes. That's why Wendy stayed last season, and Santino is still in this season. They're controversial. People watch because they can't wait to see these characters "get what's coming to them."

Sorry if this info was already discussed earlier in the thread. Just thought I'd spread the knowledge!

But Santino's jump-suit was also more interesting and more audacious than Nick's pant-suit.

And what was up with Daniel V. tonight? He was so bitchy to the judges.

Tonight was one of those episodes where a lot of what Heidi said during the judging was voice-over recording; it definitely supports the theory of producer interference in the judging process. Although I do think that it was time for Nick to go. What really surprises me is two strong showings by Kara; I would have given her the win tonight over Chloe, but since she's almost certainly out next week, I guess they wanted to give Chloe some momentum. Maybe there were points for difficulty for constructing a suit, but I thought Kara's clothes were really good.

Besides that I thought the jumpsuit was downright ugly, it did not fit her well, and I don't think it was flattering at all to her body. Her little belly was prominently featured. Again, Santino pays no attention to the fit on a woman. And this time he only had to consider one woman's shape, and he coudn't even do that. I liked what Kara designed for him, as did the judges, but I thought that even after they "cleaned him up", he looked dirty and unkempt. What a mess. Only my opinion.

Oh, he's def. yucky, I just think he's talented. I don't disagree with your criticisms of the jump-suit, but I do think that major points have to go for the contestants' creativity and originality and the clarity of vision--all of which Santino demonstrated tonight to a far greater extent than Nick. I think the frayed seam on the sleeve is a minor issue.

I didn't like Nick's suit either. And Daniel's was beyond words. What a mess he made out of Chloe. but back to Santino-there's nothing new about a jumpsuit. I think there's a reason no one wears them anymore, lol Now, as a creative person myself, (haha) I realize that an artist can't "hit" each time. Those designers are allowed to screw up once in a while. But I think Santino screws up a lot. Watch, he'll win this thing!

Yeah, I'm sure Santino's really looking forward to that Banana Republic internship. I bet they also have some say in who wins, they probably do not want him.

i really didn't like any of the outfits tonight... though i thought Santino was the only person who made a garment that was relatively creative... i really don't understand why Chloe won, I feel like I could have gone and bought that at Lord and Taylor's...

As much as I liked Nick, after the lastest episode I realized it was time for him to go. For someone who reiterated that he had experience making clothes for men, I can't figure out why he would make a suit that looked liked it did. I knew when Daniel walked on the runway that Nick was a gone, though I was hoping that Santino would be out with that ridiculous pantsuit.

Since I hadn't commented on last weeks episode, I was hoping they would have awarded Kara the winner for the garden dress since the judges seemed very enthusiastic about it.

this episode illustrates how the challenge is won or lost in the fabric store. i was shocked, frankly, as nick is a teacher in a fashion design program, that he wouldn't recognize that a mushy fabric such as the one he chose would not take that sort of tailoring without bunching. i have pulled for nick in challenge after challenge because i wanted him to succeed (i sort of identify with him) but he doesn't actually have the goods in abundance. it's hard to see the finish and detailing of the garments on tv, or at least it's hard for me, but i believe what tipped the scales for chloe over kara was the exquisite fit of the trousers.

One thing Chloe really has going for her is that every garment she puts on the runway looks finished, professional, and fits the model. I thought the suit she made for Nick made him look fabulous - and isn't that what the challenge was about? I think this was a well-deserved win for Chloe.

Considering the Banana Republic internship involved, and the style of Chloe's designs, I think Chloe has a very good (and well-deserved) chance of winning.

Santino should have gone last night, but I had a feeling it was either him or Nick on the chopping block.

I think Chloe and Daniel are definitely contenders for final three. When it comes to Kara and Santino, the next challenge will be the deciding factor.

I love this show and what a welcome relief that most of the designers are supportive of each other and are willing to lend a helping hand when push comes to shove.

the prize is not an "internship" with BR --it is to be "mentored" by BR. an intern in a fashion house schlepps coffee and bolts of fabric and sets up presentations, etc. these folks are way beyond the intern stage.
