That's great to hear. It would be fascinating to listen to him talk and explain his methods.
My friend had Doyle sign her playbill the night we were there, but I was too shy to ask him anything about the show and he seemed to be in a bit of a hurry (but was extremely nice).
The thread apparently had my last post for a snack. =P

that's so great! How often does he go? I have always wondered that
I know Doyle was at COMPANY some time in February. Since he was in town for the Tonys, he probably stopped by to congratulate the cast, and commiserate about the closing. He seems very unassuming. But I think a lot of stage directors are that way. More years ago than I want to admit, Peter Brooke had done a marvelous production of Midsummer Night's Dream, quite avant-garde for its time. I had seen it in England and when it came to NY I ran to the box office for tickets (before the internet, dearies) and as I was leaving the theater I walked past him, did a double take, which made him smile, and then approached him. I just told him how much I loved the production, how I was glad it had been brought over from England, and wished him success. He was very gracious, said thank you, and I couldn't stop grinning all day!
I saw a production he did in New York a few years ago. He spoke in conjunction with it, but I couldn't go.
I'm pretty sure he was at the show when I saw it (one of the last previews).

I wish I had seen Peter Brook's version of Carmen from the 80s, but I doubt my two year old self would have appreciated it.
I'm so angry because I went to this small movie theater today with my mom and realized that the Show Business documentary was shown there in May and I missed it! I am supposed to be on their email list, dammit!
OMG, is that still playing in NY? I must see it.
I am assuming the SHOW BUSINESS film will come out on DVD some time in the next few months - I bet that is where its true money tree is.
It's coming to MN next week, and I hope I can catch it between trips. I think you're right, keen, and it will be released to DVD before long.

I hope so because I really did want to see it.
I feel like going to Company again tonight, do I dare?
I hope they release the dvd soon too (and hopefully distribute it in Canada so I don't have to pay extra to import it...)
And misschung - Yes, yes you should.
Those of us who live away from NYC have to get our Raul "fixes" however we can, so after watching my tape of him sing "Being Alive" from Sunday night again, I happened to catch the end of Find Me Guilty on cable again, with him in the courtroom scene playing Tony Compagna.
And I am in awe (again).
You know, I seem to recall that the guy who plays Tony Compagna sings Sondheim on Broadway. Yeah, he really does! And some people think he's kind of attractive...

holy crap, I forgot about Find Me Guilty! Can you rent that?
Yep, I rented it (for free, thank god) back when I worked at Blockbuster. I don't think I could sit through it again, but Raul was really good in it.

Okay, I need to do that.
The movie wasn't my thing, but he's really impressive in it.

Well, I'm not a fan of Cold Case either, but when in Rome..
I know what you mean. I totally got sucked into Cold Case for a while after Adam's episode though...
I'm the same way with Cold Case. I don't watch it as avidly as my L&O, but if it is on I will watch.
misschung, I'll go if you go

do you think rush tickets will be available 15 min before the show?
my family thinks i am a total nut -this is going beyond the realm of obsession lol

Yeah, it's not like they're gonna magically sell out. You could get something at like 7:59, I'm sure.
My dad is very much like "you've seen it already. Why are you going back?" When I told my mom it was closing, she was like "so, how many more times?" I told her I didn't know, but she more or less told me that within the realm of being reasonable, to do what I needed to do.
