No one's in a tizzy, Carlos, we just wish more Christians would remember Matthew 6:5-7, or at the very least have the capacity for critical thought that allows that them to realize that if their God is guiding their life, he's either ignoring or directly sabotaging the lives of others.

Meh. I don't begrudge/question McConaughey's personal beliefs--he is as entitled to them as I am to my own. Surely, one's faith in *whatever* is a logical and natural ingredient in one's Best Actor thank-you speech.
I guess I just found the speech rambling and weirdly didactic. I hope I do better when I give MY thanks to the Academy.

I loved that Lupita's brother totally ran to the front of the A-list selfie!
Hilarious. Guy knows how to work it.
Still carrying his sister's wrap and purse, he practically jumped to the front.

This is the worst Oscars ever.
I can't believe it took so long for the first person to say it this year. I am surprised, however, that no one else has said it. You'd think if it were actually the WORST, more people (like, a majority or something) would be bitching about it. Oh, well...at least we have the WORST TONY BROADCAST EVER to look forward to this summer!
Loved the broadcast. Especially loved Ellen, the best host since Billy Crystal. I'd be happy to have her host every year for a while. Really had no issues with any of the wins EXCEPT Best Picture. I actually thought that was kind of a shame. I think the only less deserving nominee for BP was Wolf of Wall Street. Would have liked to see Bob Nelson and Jennifer Lawrence win, but I thought Spike Jonze and Lupita Nyong'o were very strong (well, Lupita was really the only worthwhile takeaway I found in 12 Years a Slave).

And speaking of advertising, Samsung won Oscar gold!
Samsung, Pepsi, Google, Netflix and McDonald's scored the top 5.

They got a ton of free publicity last night that's for sure.
I used to work for an advertising monitoring service, so I totally get how important a product mention is on a television program. Even if the product is not mentioned but the product logo appears on screen it is very important and valuable to advertisers.
Those billboards that appear on field level during sporting events are expensive and we provided data just based on how many seconds any given billboard was visible and captured on camera.

The clarity of that photo was the best part of the 'placement'.
Carlos, all of that monitoring is taken very seriously. The "art and the science" of advertising is knowing how to count what is count-able and then deciding what to do with it.
(and, much of the signage you see these days in rinks, arenas and stadiums are managed electronically. The tv viewer may be seeing very different signs than the person in the venue... It makes for challenging 'rights' discussions)

Oh, yes I know. One of our biggest clients was Lever Bros. and they wanted every single brand of toothpaste monitored in every major market in North America not only in prime time but during the early morning shows and soap operas. It was huge, huge report. Yours truly was in charge of that.
Interesting points you make about the electronic signage Addy. Times have changed.

And the big fallout of the night: The pizza boxes were emblazoned with the Coca-Cola label.
Pepsi was a sponsor.
Apparently there were plain white boxes that they were going to transfer the pizzas into but the delivery guy was late. (Really? They needed real pizzas? They couldn't have a few standing by for the Oscars?). When the guy ran late the producers forced Ellen to bring him right out, even though she can be heard trying to instruct him to go to a different spot on the stage for the quick box transfer.
But, he was forced directly on stage.
And the pizza boxes, with the competitive logo, were seen by millions.
OOPS.
That's gonna cost 'em!
