The reviews are incredible across the board. I found the first episode pretty dull to be honest. I’ve read that it picks up. I’m hoping so.
I will say Jennifer Coolidge is playing against type and doing some really nice work. She’s making me very uncomfortable.

Agree about Coolidge. Her character is so needy. The problem thus far is that the plot is thin but perhaps it is unfair to judge so early on. It does paint a humorous view of the customer serice industry. A modern day Upstairs Downstairs.

The reviews are NOT incredible across the board, in any way. The last review I read about it was titled "What if HBO doesn't need another show about terrible rich white people?".
Reviews are mixed and the show is less than average. Nothing to see here.

Well it’s got an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. There were a few negative but most were quite positive. The audience reviews were pretty positive as well. I’ll give it a few more weeks. Coolidge is intriguing and Molly Shannon is also playing against type. I love her too.

I absolutely loved the pilot episode. It is exposition heavy like all pilots, but still manages to entertain. It's also drop dead gorgeous. I don't know where it's going and I like that.
It isn't a mystery per se, but it does keep you guessing about which one of these characters will end up in that coffin being put on the plane.
The reviews say it's a satire of privelidge. I can't wait to watch tonight! I loved Mike White's last show, Enlightened so I'm expecting remarkable things from White Lotus
The cast is stacked with good actors. It kinda feels like a sophisticated version of the old Fantasy Island show.

I have to admit, my preferred White Lotus involves Uncle Iroh playing pai-sho over a cup of tea, but I'm still planning to give this one a try.

It’s a cultural satire revolving around people living in their own brains.

I love it so far! It’s interesting and not sure where it’s going but love all the actors.
Is Mike White on the show? I know he created it but is he acting in it too? Was trying to figure out who he is, I didn’t watch Enlightened.

I thought the 2nd episode was better than the first. Connie Britton is very funny and seems to have a full understanding of who she is playing.

There was a brief reference to her "riding the coattails of the me too movement" to get ahead and I'm interested to see what that's all about.
The show is slow but not at all boring, if that makes sense. I'm enjoying the languid pace.

The one thing that gets a little old is the guest obsessed about not getting the honeymoon suite.
The White Lotus#14
Posted: 7/25/21 at 10:35pmI’m enjoying it. It’s a character study and a slow burn. It’s not going to appeal to everyone but I’ve warmed up to it. It’s beautifully shot and impeccably acted. It makes me very tense and the characters all pull the necessary emotions from me. Everyone is doing their job well.

The third episode was well done and at times laugh out loud funny. Jennifer Coolidge stole the show so to speak but everyone was quite good. The momentum of the series is building which is really smart.

The New Yorker wrote that this is one of the best shows of the year. They said that Murray Bartlett is a revelation. I am surprised that Sutton dismissed this.

If you recommend it, I will watch the pilot, Smooth. I am a WASP that subscribes to the New Yorker so it makes sense that I would like it. There are just so many shows to watch these days, I only want to watch compelling, smart shows.

It starts off slow but it really gets cooking during episode 3.

Honestly they're probably right. Every time I watch the show I look at flights. That hotel is gorgeous.
I'm loving it, but yeah, it's a slow burn, and until episode 3, I would hesitate to even call it a dark comedy. But it's holding my interest and look forward to Molly Shannon.

I think some people cannot get past the relaxed pace of the first episode. I keep telling people to stay with it. The third episode was very funny.

I also thought episode three was where we really started to get into David Lynchian territory.
