The last time I was in New York (November) walking to the tired Rawhide, a waiter had confronted three guys who either didn't tip or pay. Not sure, he was yelling and cussing so loudly. He had crossed across the avenue (maybe 8th?) The four of them were at the subway entrance and the three "customers" just stood there while the waiter cussed them out from head to toe. It was quite entertaining. I just don't know why the three guys just didn't enter the subway entrance and remove themselves from the situation. They just stood there and took it. But I sure enjoyed the drama.

I can see following a customer out if they didn't pay the bill at all. But as far as not tipping? I would never follow them out for that. I'd be pissed, but I wouldn't follow them out.

He did work hard WYNBISH, as did my Mom. So hard that they were able to buy several homes and are putting several kids thru private schools. Thats why we were taught to love this country and everyone in it regardless of race, class, sexuality. all you have to do is work hard and you can achieve your dreams. not so in old soviet union, work hard or not you pretty much end up in the same spot, unless you had party connections.

It definitely is admirable, especially owning property in Brooklyn after coming here with little.

The Ukraine left the Soviet Union in late 1991, right? That's when the Soviet Union collapsed. Just over 21 years ago. Did they get here before that?
