Amazon have it for $18 and $20 (special packaging)...if you can splash out on two sets of tickets, a trip to Europe, and West End shows - surely you can afford that! You're rich, right?

FYE's (For Your Entertainment) a chain of music/video stores. They're pretty pricey generally, but they have used CDs/DVDs too. I picked this up at the one at the Palisades Mall...not sure if there are any in Manhattan or not. I've never really seen any. I should look though, because it froze up on Bullet the Blue Sky. It's not a biggie, but if I could possible trade it in...nah, what are the chances they'd actually have another used copy?!? Slim to none...oh well.

The Slane concert was from Sept. 1, 2001 (not sure exactly when Bono's father died). It was a really great concert. The DVD has a bonus track of Mysterious Ways and Bono's daughter, Eve, joins him to dance on stage. It's cute! They have some pretty cheap on eBay. I'd definitely recommend it!

ETA: Scratch eBay. I checked a few of the "cheaper" ones and they all seem to have crazy shipping prices, like $6-7! Come on, it'd cost $2 for an envelope and shipping for a DVD that comes in a CD case!!!

BUMP, for Ellie!!!

From u2tours.com:

Rumors: Vertigo 3rd leg // Buffalo
February 22, 2005
U2tours.com is hearing tips on several fronts that U2 will announce the 3rd leg of the Vertigo Tour as soon as early March, with ticket sales to follow immediately. One tip, for example, comes from Buffalo, where the word on the street is a November 22nd concert, with tickets going on sale March 19th.

Hmmm, sounds like we should keep our eyes peeled in the next couple weeks! But, Buffalo?!?! That's kind of random, isn't it? Hey boys, while you're at it, why not make a stop at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH?!?!? Hey, we had Elton John and Cher...no reason we can't have U2 as well (Not that it'd matter, since I'll be back at school in November, but it'd be hard to resist seeing them "at home." I was looking on U2tours and I guess they played a concert at Hampton Beach in NH in 1981!!! What I wouldn't give to hear that!!!

I'm so jealous Tiff. You must stalk them. If they're supposed to be there for a month, you have no excuses...I expect no less than autographs and pix!!! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! You're on a mission!

I'm almost tempted to mill about the Waldorf Astoria in a couple weeks when they'll be here to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I want my Joshua Tree LP signed in the WORST WAY!!! It just looks so big and naked without autographs on it!

On a sidenote...I was watching a concert from Germany in the 80s (from u2exit.com) and Bono was getting awfully chummy w/ some chick. I've come to the conclusion that I definitely want to be manhandled by Bono! God, if he can still be sexy w/ a mullet...there's something seriously wrong!!!

mabel, if I could be molested by Bono, I would die a happy gal. Does that sound kind of wrong? You've got an LP? Go for the Waldorf, woman! What are you waiting for?? I can't believe it's taken this long for them to be inducted!

I've gotta get my ass to that Irish pub in Gastown! I don't even like beer, but to swig a pint o' Guinness with U2...I just...AAAHHHH!!!

Yeah, I got the Joshua Tree LP a few years ago at a flea market while prop hunting for a play. I was almost tempted to give it to my friend (the one I'm seeing them w/ in Boston) because she's obsessed w/ U2 (has gone on record saying she wants to have Bono's love-child!) But I couldn't bring myself to part w/ it! Yep, I'm that selfish!

I think I'll give the Waldorf a go. I don't have any clue what time the induction is, or any vicinity where they might be going in/out, but I'll kick myself later if I don't even make an attempt and at least swing up there.

What are the eligibility requirements? That's silly. Gazillion times platinum, staying power, philanthropy, sold out tours, and they JUST became eligible right before they get their AARP benefits??

Okay, Fontofknoweledge. You can call ME Fountofknowledge, for knowing how to spell properly.

I just woke up from my nap. I had this strange dream. I was walking down Robson Street and I saw The Edge walking towards me, and I stepped in his way, mouth agape and went, "It's YOU!" and froze. And then he looked sideways, a net dropped over me, and I woke up.

Strange, huh?

So does that make you Times New Roman? And me, Comic Sans MS? Wing Dings?

BUMP...

Saw this on interference (posted from zootopia, the message board on u2.com that I can't read, because I didn't pay $40 to be a member!):

I was told by a studio guitar tech in Nashville, Dallas (Edge's tech) said it's pretty much the whole new album plus their other "have-to" staples and there's just not time for any more. He said they are trying to throw in some medley concepts to get everything in, but that's probably only going to be in one area of the show and some of them hate it as a concept.

They are trying to cut it down to a managable amount and it will be a short set with two small breaks, no encore. One break is some video thing and one is an extended Edge feature. He said they may do as many as 7 songs off the new CD?! They do NOT want it to become a greatest hits tour like the Stones, they want it to be new and fresh. Some favs are being cut out it appears.

They cut Desire for Crumbs, etc. Crumbs and Love & Peace he said is performed on an island with a combo set up. He said they were trying to build a few covers to pander to each region and that's on the island, too. There's part of a Ramones tune for NY and so on.

He heard TWO demo remix tracks they are using in rehearsals. One he said is an extended Vertigo with the 'Wire' riff in it that the stage is supposed to do something to and the other is a hybrid instrumental remix of Yahweh and Walk On and something else he thought was a totally new faster "The Who-sounding" version of '40' in the middle for an epic closer, but it wasn't more than an idea they would try out in Canada? He said Bono has too many ideas and a wild idea to totally change the words to one of the "Bomb" songs and do this big "movie" in the middle of the concert, but it doesn't make sense yet.

They apparently have too many slow/low songs but it's easier on Bono's Vox. (HA!) He said Bono's voice is much more manageable and he will sound better than ever if he paces himself. He is more worried Edge will have too much to do/play rather than Bono's voice cracking. He said they have an edict not to use any recordings for fill, but will probably have hidden 'knomes', whatever that means. I acted like I knew what it meant. Anyone know what knomes are or noams? Tech talk?

He said a month sounds like a long time, but they barely have more than ideas on paper. He said if all goes well, they may release a second CD before the tour ends with less "release" oriented material, but they want to avoid something that's not ready. He doesn't know where the time is to review final cuts and do studio fixes, so he doubts it'll be done... Dallas said in the end, it's just a dream we may see parts of on B sides in the future. Adam and management think they may need a new cd when they come back to the U.S. ARE YOU KIDDING? If you get the chance, tell them they will , tho.
He said Dallas did not comment on family issues of the band.
He said only one of the band looks at this site once in a while. 'That they would ALL have postponed it all if they could have, but too much was on and in it and postponement rumors had more to do with that than Edge's family. He said some in the band and management were really lobbying for a total do-over of the American first leg sales.

He said they plan two more albums and another tour before the Best Of III and he thinks they will scale way back after that...

Just rumors, but I trust this guy. He knew the album title a month before it hit the web. I thought he was joking or testing me to see if I would leak it. I can hardly believe they named it that, even now. IT'S A LINE FROM ONE THEY CUT FROM THE CD?!

I don't know if I like this idea. I really do love the new album, and enjoy most of the songs on it, but THE WHOLE ALBUM?!?! I figured they'd do 7 or so (though the guy says 7 later in the post...sorry, but there's a far cry between 7 and 12...would the whole album include Fast Cars?!? Hmmm...). I'm sorry, I'm all for them playing the new music. I don't want a complete "Greatest Hits Tour," but at the same time, I've never seen a full-fledged U2 concert, and I can't imagine coming away from the show having not heard: One, With or Without You, Pride, Sunday Bloody Sunday, I Will Follow, Where the Streets Have No Name, Bad, Mysterious Ways, Bullet the Blue Sky, New Year's Day, Out of Control, All I Want is You, Desire...the list goes on. I think the thing that worried me the most was this whole "short set" thing. SHORT?!?! Shorter than Elevation, where they played 20 songs on average?!? I don't think I'm cool w/ that at all! Geez, REM played 25! If they're going more low key, like the post was implying, I'd think they could have a longer setlist. I realize they're getting up there, but come on! When I saw Paul McCartney on his last tour, he did 34 songs! I don't expect them to do anywhere near that many, but if the shows shorter than the last tour, I seriously think I'll cry! What can I say, I want to hear them all!!!

No 'Desire'?? re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

But what about all the loyal fans down through the ages, who've seen every tour and actually want to hear the new album in the entirety? That's not to say that they should forget about us U2Live virgins...my solution would be to do the whole of HTDAAB, and the whole of all their other albums as well! Screw Bono's voice! If we go on the first night, we'll be fine!

Damn straight!!! I want the whole damn back catalogue!!!

I realize there's no pleasing everyone, but I think even more than the "play the whole album" thing, what bothers me is the "short set" part. I'll be a little peeved if they play all of HTDAAB and then only play 4 or 5 others, which is what I'd have to assume they'll be doing...you'd think "short" would imply less than last tour, and there were shows on Elevation that only had 19 songs. I don't know...guess I'll just have to wait a few more weeks till they open in San Diego. There've been plenty of crazy rumors floating around (like the band rehearsing Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go!" Now that'd piss me off! If they're doing a short set, I want every damn song to be U2...No Wham allowed!!! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

In a perfect world, theyd'd do about 22 songs, 8 or 9 from the new album, a couple of rarities, and fill out the rest of the set w/ staples. That way, everyone wins! I'm not that concert savvy...How many new songs do most bands play on tour? When I saw McCartney he only played 3 from Driving Rain (which is CRAZY! I'd never expect or want that few from U2 on this tour), and REM played about 6-7 from Around the Sun on their current tour. I would think 8 or 9 would be fine (and what would they be?? Vertigo, SYCMIOYO, Miracle Drug, Original of the Species, All Because of You, City of Blinding Lights, Love and Peace or Else, Yahweh, and....oh, I dunno FAST CARS?!?!...it's tough though, cause that still leaves out Crumbs, A Man and a Woman, and One Step Closer!!!) ARG!!! I don't know! Damn I could come up w/ 50 songs I'd want to hear w/ no trouble! Hopefully they'll shake it up a bit for the third leg and I'll be able to catch them then too. I have no problem having to go to more than one concert to hear a bunch of the classics!!! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

]re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! *lights hair on fire* Good GOD!! The whole CD? I like HTDAAB as much as the next person, but dammit, I want that PLUS a greatest hits tour! The U2 CD that gets the most play in my car and at home is 1980-1990 Best Of, and a U2 concert with just a medley of, you know, Streets, Desire, Sunday, With Or W/o You...GAH!!

That's it ladies. It's time for me to take measures into my own hands. Hunger strike outside GM Place until they promise to at least hit HALF of the Best Of album (and cut of Cars).

I totally agree Tiff. I'm enjoying HTDAAB, and I'd be hard pressed to decide which tracks to play and which tracks to leave off the setlist (I'd personally leave of Miracle Drug and Yahweh, but I know that's not going to happen...and probably A Man and a Woman and One Step Closer; those are probably more likely to be left off if they don't play 'em all), but the whole album?!?! As much as I like HTDAAB, I don't think it's a masterpiece or anything. I don't think they've ever played THE WHOLE album; not for The Joshua Tree, not for Achtung Baby (did they?!?!), so I can't really imagine them really doing that for Bomb, especially since they've amassed an even more massive back catalogue by now (10-20 years later). Man, it certainly would be a bitch deciding what gets played and what gets dropped!...I'm resigning myself to the fact that Fast Cars will not be played, even if they do play most of the tracks from the album. I'm hoping it's played at at least one concert, so I can find a boot of it...I guess I'll settle for that! But really, they should play it. It's got the album title in it after all!!! Come on boys!

Oh, I'm also hooked to the greatest hits 1980-90. I listen to it all the time! I think it'd be impossible to come up w/ a 20 song setlist. What to leave off?!?! What are they going to play from ATYCLB? I find it hard to believe that they'll only play Beautiful Day, but if they're only going to play a half a dozen songs from every other album, how could they do more than that (if they are indeed doing this craziness, I'd drop BD altogether, but that's not going to happen!) I'm not a particularly big fan of ATYCLB, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. What are they going to pick one song from each album?

Sigh...I want this tour to start NOW!!!

Tiff, you get to your stalking and pry the truth out of them! I'll honestly be greatful to hear anything and everything, but I want the essentials, damnit!!! I want to hear it all!

I've decided that from now until March 26, I'm going to become an alcoholic and haunt every Irish pub in the GM Place/Downtown vicinity. How 'bout it? Sacrifice a lung, forge a friendship with Bono?

I still don't see why they have such short sets. Not that it doesn't sound exhausting or anything, but let's say doors open at 7:30, Kings of Leon starts at 8, 8:15, ends at 9...surely a good 2, 2.5 hrs of U2 until 11, 11:30 isn't too much to ask, is it? (If I had to choose one album that they sang all the way through though, it would be Joshua Tree.)
