I think most of the Elevation concerts clocked in around 2 hours. I'm just getting kind of nervous about that comment that this tour would be shorter...Ummm, an hour and a half? I love you boys, but if I had spent $200 for a ticket, I'd be rip****! Geez, they played for about an hour in Brooklyn and that was after toodling around on a flatbed truck all day. They should be able to muster a solid two hours/20 songs. I realize they're putting more of a show up than McCartney/REM (the only two I've seen sort of recently, so I'm using them as examples) but I don't think for the same price or more they should be putting up a setlist THAT much shorter. I say they play for two hours and just crank through as many songs as possible. No banter, so excessive singing along w/ the crowd (seriously 3 minutes of the audince singing "Angel, angel of Harlem"...no. Love it, loved to hear it. Thanks, next! Moving right along! We've still got lots of ground to cover!!!)
Tiff, I think your sacrifice is very noble...certainly worth the loss of a lung to bond w/ Bono, I say!!!
And definitely yes on The Joshua Tree. I consider Streets, With or Without You, ISHFWILF, Bullet, and Running to Stand Still way up on my priority list (along w/ 20 or so others!!!)
Bump...
Newest Stage Setup (San Diego)
That stage set-up is so cool.
I might actually be back (from my semester abroad) in time for that Buffalo concert if the date is correct! Especially because it seems like the sets will be shortened, I'd love to see them more than once on this tour. They should be announcing the new dates soon!
Hmm not bad. Now I REALLY wish I was seeing Vancouver too! What I don't really get is:
Okay, so if the blue part is the egg enclosed, what's separating them and the rest of the GA?
The jist I got from it was that the egg was all of the GA...maybe??? Or would it be the egg is the equivalent of the heart on Elevation and the edge of that is a ramp that they can run around? Damned if I know!!!...Though, the responses to that thread on interference seem to be rather suspicious that this is even legit. I guess we'll know in 27 days!
Arg...bumped up, yet again...

Vertigo Third Leg Rumors, Announcement Imminent?
We know, we know. You see the words "rumor" and "U2 tour" in the same news article and you freak. You're sick of rumors, you want facts, and well, so do we. But due to whisperings around the Vertigo Tour Rumor Watercooler, we thought we'd bring this to you just because we found it interesting and timely, and because we can't wait much longer for the Third Leg Announcement!
Interference reader Chris has let us know that Philadelphia's 100.7 WZXL has told their ZXL "Work Force" team that U2 has booked the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia on October 16th & 17th, 2005, and, most fascinatingly, tickets are due to go on sale for these dates on Saturday March 12th at 10am!
How about that, folks?
Want more whispered Third Leg tour dates? These are ones kind readers have passed to us over the past couple months:
September 16th, 17th - Toronto, Air Canada Center
September 30, October 1st, 3rd - Boston, FleetCenter
October 7, 9, 10, 11th - New York City (!!!)
December 13, 14, 17, 18 - Sydney SuperDome at Homebush Bay
That's about all we have now, friends. Remember, don't shoot the messenger, and please consider these dates rumors until U2.com announces otherwise. For all Vertigo Tour news, stay peeled to Interference.com's Vertigo Tour Info page.

THAT'S MY BIRTHDAY! *weeps* I wanna go to U2!
Aw. If those dates are true, I won't be here (I'll be in Australia, and by the time they get to Australia, I'll be gone!). But I won't complain because I already get to see them once. I'm glad that there are four more NY dates added! That gives you a pretty good chance, Ellie! I guess an official announcement will have to be made soon.
Yeah, I would think if they're going on sale on March 12th, they'd have to be announcing it officially within the next few days (a week maybe?). Damnit! I just finished paying for one set of tickets...I don't need to add more right now. Nevermind, scratch that! I can manage another $50 for a GA. Yep, definitely! Not a problem! I'm selfishly hoping all those crazy folks that bought dozens of tickets to multiple cities in multiple countries, that have to not only pay for the tix, but airfare, hotels, etc. won't quite be ready to dive back into the ticket buying thing, leaving more tix for me and Ellie!!! Sorry you won't be here Elphie! That really sucks! It's a real pisser to miss them at home, because you're travelling to Australia, and then miss them there too! That's particularly harsh, I must say! Hell, this probably isn't true anyway. There were rumors a few days ago saying they'd be in Buffalo in November, which wouldn't make sense now (why be in NYC in early October and Buffalo in Nov?!?) I guess we'll find out what the deal is in the next few days!
I am totally buying MSG tickets and then waiting till August/September to see where I am, and decide if I'll fly to NYC. I'm so down with that.
*worried* Just occurred to me that I'll be in San Francisco from March 19-28, meaning...I...I...might...m-m-m-miss the BOYS!!!
Sounds like a reasonable plan Tiff...Hell, at least you know that there'll be a couple of people here who'd be more than willing to take them off your hands if something should come up and you couldn't make it to NYC I have big GA plans for October 7th! I've yet to have Friday classes in my three years at school and have no intention of having one next fall either, so that would be perfect! I'd rather not have to blow off a whole day of classes to get a decent spot in the GA line...though I've done it before, I would do it again, if I had to!
Aw, Tiff! Those dates aren't finalized yet (I'm hoping they're wrong), so you might not miss them.
No, I mean I'm going to be out of town their last week before the tour starts in San Diego, and that's likely the time they'll be rehearsing in Vancouver right?
*has aneurysm*
BTW ladies, I'm quite serious about buying MSG U2 tickets so I say we all try to go on the same day! My birthday is Oct 9 so I would LOVE to be there for that!
Ah, ok, I get it. Hhmm.Uh-oh.
That would be an awesome B-Day for you! Who better to spend it with than Bono?
Hugh Jackman? Mmm...no. Bono's better.
What dates are you gonna try for? I'm guessing they won't use all 4 dates, right?
I'm going to probably do the same thing I did for the Boston show, and man the computer lab w/ a computer for each date and take what I can get. In a perfect world, I'd get GAs for that Friday show, the 7th, since it'd be the best piss away a day in line...day. However, I'll probably try for a pair and chances are I won't be able to find anyone to go w/ (doubt my friend from home'll come to NYC when they'll be in Boston again, and none of my friends at school either care much for U2/could afford to buy even GAs, so Tiff, if you can get here, I'm all for trying to hook up for a show (or two). My birthday's the 29th of September, so that's close enough to justify splurging a bit!!! The big 2-1! Wooohooo! (I'm actually not even that psyched about turning 21 other than I want to be able to fully partake on brunch deals w/ drinks! I plan on frequenting the Riviera Cafe...Come on! $10 for food +2 drinks...not too shabby, my friends!)
Anyway, I'm off. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any new news!
I'm turning 21 in September too, mabel. That's definitely an excuse to splurge! I might try to buy a ticket anyway (even though I won't be here) and see if by some miracle I can make it back, because I know I won't have any trouble selling the ticket to another dedicated U2 fan if necessary. I wish I could meet you all! (I'd be going by myself too).

I could live w/ this setlist (sad there's no Bad, Desire, or Fast Cars, but there are plenty of classics that I'd love to hear, and would be totally satisfied w/ this...though I'm sure this isn't really what the setlist will end up looking like, it's still kind of fun to speculate!)
Hmm...I don't mind so much. I'm still glad to know Vertigo is opening it, and that I Will Follow is close by. I'm glad about Sunday, October, New Year's Day, Pride, Streets...there's a few that I wish were still in there but I can live. It seems kind of short though.
Ooookay, one more...Tiff, I'd be jumping up and down if they actually did that whole setlist (even though there are a bunch of songs I'd rather see/hear, but whatever...)! There were shows on Elevation where they only played 19 songs! I'm keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed that they'll play 24 songs. I was figuring maybe 21/22, but then there was that rumor about playing all of HTDAAB, and that they'd be playing a short set...I want some hard facts from spies in Vancouver, but since it looks like you're going to be off galavanting in San Francisco, I guess that's not going to happen
*cries* Don't remind me! I hope to hell that I'll get to see them SOMEWHERE. When's San diego again?
I think the tour kicks off on the 27th or 28th in San Diego...not sure how early they'll be there/when exactly they'll be in Vancouver (the general consensus I've gotten is that they only really expect the band to be there for a week or so...the rest of that will be tech work w/o the band, and that could start as soon as Duran Duran is out of there tonight or tomorrow???)
Tomorrow. I was reading interference too.
Yep, we're losers.
Arg...I know we are...I spend way too much time on interference!! But really, it's just because I've gotten so lazy about this semester at school. I think I've hit some sort of junior roadblock, where I'm in denial that this semester is flying by and I'll be a senior soon and still have NO idea what the hell I want to do. I was distracted by the Red Sox in the fall, and now it's U2!!!
