Oh, we'll see the show. I'll likely buy SRO tickets in the morning just in case and then give them to who ever wins the lotto for me. A conversation between the only two people not watching a Nov MSG show :-(

We are viewing this Rent visit as "closure" and it seems weird to see it from anywhere other than front row. A conversation between the only two people not watching a Nov MSG show :-(

I hear ya, Stephen! Why closure though? It sounds so final when it doesn't need to be! A conversation between the only two people not watching a Nov MSG show :-(

I really wish Color Purple had been around when I was in town. According to the buzz, the cast is simply stunning. Apparently they had a really powerful performance on Oprah that I missed.

When will *A* we joining the crew here?? Has she checked us out already? You haven't been withholding us from her, have you? (I was wondering why she wasn't threatened by her charming hubby hanging around three hot ladies so often!) A conversation between the only two people not watching a Nov MSG show :-(

You're doing standby for The View, right? I think you should get there ridiculously early. Nic and I showed up for the cast of Elizabethtown around...9am, I believe (they start distributing at something like 8:30?), but we were already SH*T outta luck because they only distribute something like 36 standby numbers. I imagine the group of fangirl/boys lining up for RENT will be even more competitive.

What's your accomodation situation? I know you said you already booked - are you in midtown? *adds information into already extensive Stephen Stalking File* You should check if other hotels are available now for the week you're there - they may have dropped the prices substantially if they haven't sold as many rooms as they'd expected this close to those dates.

What time do you arrive on Saturday? Are you free to do stuff for most of the afternoon? Looks like Sunday's pretty much packed. Monday will probably be your most open day. You'll have an open afternoon on Tuesday (I'd recommend doing Central Park then, since you'll already be north of Columbus Circle, and the Park is just a few blocks to the east).

ETA: It's 3 days now, Stephen!

ETA2: I didn't buy Madge's CD yesterday, because I was too occupied buying Chicago Vertigo! I'll take a peak at it today and tell you guys if it's worth picking up. Once I get those DVD+Rs mailed to me, if it works on my friend's computer, I can burn you guys copies instead, if you want!

I wonder if they have any rush policy for TCP. I haven't looked into it yet. I haven't really been keeping up on my show-going. What was the last thing I saw? Oh, Appian Way. And I think the last show before that was when Tiff was here. A show over the course of a month is really lagging for me! I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do after Thanksgiving.

I think Stephen actually has tickets to The View, so they don't have to contend w/ standby. Always a plus!

I have to get back to reading. I zonked out on the couch for a couple hours. Very bad...Tiff, pop in Disc Two on the Chicago DVD and see how the bonus stuff is. Like how long is the Tour documentary? If it's some 15 minute thing, I don't know if it'd really be worth it...though I think I read a review somewhere saying something about Adam traipsing around in a robe backstage, so I think I may have to spring for the double disc w/ the documentary after all. How much did you say the diff was btwn the 2 discs, Nic? Because if you want, you could send like, US$22 my way, and that's the cost of the 2-disc one up here and I'll send it your way. (Er...care pack hasn't been sent yet - in my defense, it was because I thought I'd have enough time to develop my pics and send a bunch of them to you. But they WILL get there before December! I'll prob send via airmail instead) I'll check out the special features one in a mo'.

ETA: Ooooh! I soooo love having my crazy Greek uncle in town. There's only so much Asian food he can tolerate, and then he wants to binge on European. Lucky for me he also doesn't care about dropping a lot of money on food AND he likes to eat in his hotel AND he's staying in one of Vancouver's 5-star ones right on the ocean, so this is where we're eating tonight!

PS. Nic, the show you saw before Appian Way was In My Life. Then the one before that was...Spamalot I think?

Tiff, I think the 2 disc is $22 or 23, so I'll just pick it up. But the single disc is only $11 or so...didn't you say that was more than the double-DVD in Canada? Weird.

Ah yes, IML. That was the 15th, I think. So yeah, one other show in more than a month! Pity I haven't actually been saving up $$ w/ my lack of show-going. What the hell have I been spending it on?!?! *sigh* Oh well.

Have fun binging on crazy-expensive food, Tiff! The masochist in me wants to hear all about it as I eat leftovers for the 4th night in a row!!

Ah, well, $22 isn't bad. $11 is a crazy good price though. Double disc in Canada is CAD$23 + tax (which is freakin' 14.5%!!). Single is CAD$27 + tax (that's the regular price, while the double is on sale for $23 - regular price being something like $30).

That price for the single disc is CRAZY!!! I think the regular price on the double disc is $30, so I best hop on it before Saturday.

Bump...I forgot to remind you guys that the Johnny Cash special is on tonight. Dunno what U2 are performing, though there have been rumblings that it's likely going to be The Wanderer, which from what I gather, they've never performed before. Could be interesting.

They just performed, and were fabulous. It was indeed The Wanderer, which they recorded with Johnny for "The Essential Johnny Cash" album.

They sounded great!

I wasn't thrilled w/ Edge's "Waa-Waa-Waa"s but compared to Sheryl Crow's dear-in-the-headlights bad performance of Ring of Fire and the beyond bizarre combo of Jerry Lee Lewis and Kid Rock singing Walk the Line, U2's The Wanderer was pretty damn good. I think a bit of a tone down on the Edge would have definitely helped out. I LOVE Edge, but a little of his falsetto goes a long way for me.

Yes, they were very good. For the most part, the performances got progressively better as the show's gone on.

And now I'm going to have Will The Circle Be Unbroken in my head forEVER.

I hear ya, Stephen! Why closure though? It sounds so final when it doesn't need to be!

That's a tough question to answer really. It just seems like time. Who knows though? Perhaps it will completely reinvent the show for us since we haven't seen it since February of 1999. All I know is that the last time I saw the show I was so indifferent and just bored that I knew it was time to stop because it was having an adverse effect on my memories of something that was so personal and important to me. Does that make any sense at all or do I sound like one of those obnoxious teenie fans?

Apparently they had a really powerful performance on Oprah that I missed.

Yeah, the Oprah performance was incredible. I really wanted to see TCP before that, but it was the performance on Oprah that really made me want to figure out a way to make it work. Of course, I have that on DVD, Tiff and when I finalize the disc it's on, I could easily send you a copy.

When will *A* we joining the crew here?? Has she checked us out already? You haven't been withholding us from her, have you? (I was wondering why she wasn't threatened by her charming hubby hanging around three hot ladies so often!)

I have been encouraging her to come around. She isn't quite the posting junkie that I am. I suspect she'll make an appearance tonight.

You're doing standby for The View, right?

Nope, I have tickets, but not for the day Rent is on. I can't seem to find out who is going to be on our day. The day before is up, the day after is up - nothing on the day of.

What's your accomodation situation? I know you said you already booked - are you in midtown?

We are staying midtown. I won't say the name of the hotel on the open board because I am having a rare moment of security, but it's in a great location. Staying in the high 40s. I got a great rate though, so I doubt I'll be able to match it.

*adds information into already extensive Stephen Stalking File*

Hence the "rare moment of security."

What time do you arrive on Saturday? Are you free to do stuff for most of the afternoon?

We get in late Saturday afternoon. Basically, I am going to check in, freshen up and then go right to the theatre for DRS because I am entering the lottery for smartpenguin78 and yodamarie78 and meeting quite a few BWWers over there.

Looks like Sunday's pretty much packed. Monday will probably be your most open day. You'll have an open afternoon on Tuesday (I'd recommend doing Central Park then, since you'll already be north of Columbus Circle, and the Park is just a few blocks to the east).

Yep, that's the plan exactly.

I wonder if they have any rush policy for TCP. I haven't looked into it yet.

Yeah, they do. First come first serve rush tickets when the box office opens. $25 front two rows.

I am in Row I, but over on the side - so I am considering buying rush tickets and selling my seats at the box office if SP78 is interested in buying them. He had mentioned wanting to see it. I'd just sell him my seats at the Rush price most likely.

Wannabee, had a limited engagement and will be returning for special performances soon. We live in the city. We have quite a few shows to catch together, I figured P and anjilly wouldn't want townies following them all over. The gathering will be "smashing" though.
