Good lord, you must be having a musical orgasm lately!!
I'm not even that big of an Aerosmith fan, but it'd still be crazy to see him driving around the oval downtown! I remember in high school, everyone was convinced they knew where he lived, and people would just "conveniently" drive by all the time trying to catch a glimpse of him, or the gates open, or something (I never caught where it was exactly, so I'm not sure what the deal is, but I guess he's kicking around town). I'll have to check the Bistro out next time I'm home, maybe he'll be there?? Then I'll have to dash home and grab an Aerosmith LP to get signed (I have some Bootleg show on LP that I picked up at a yard sale...that'd be the one I'd go for!) I've got it all planned out.
I've just been catching up on this thread and I'm jealous of all your cool stories, mabel! A few feet away from Elton John, a town away from Steven Tyler...you and your musical connections!
Yeah, it's kind of crazy. I wish I had a picture of this Bistro. It's too funny. It's a train caboose attatched to the side of a house that was converted into a gift shop several years ago. It used to be a little breakfast/lunch place, but it was bought out in the fall. And there's a little ice cream shop out front too, which doesn't doesn't quite mesh w/ Le Bistro!!! Oh, and it's right next to the town elementary school. Quite the random little place, and I can't quite imagine Steven Tyler driving up and strolling on in. Hell, I guess he's just a regular guy, but it's still kind of bizarre...in my town. Weird.
haha, that's quite a picture you paint. Definitely be on the lookout for him now!
Jon BonJovi was at my school last year filming a movie; it was so strange to see him sitting in my cafeteria, eating cafeteria food off of one of our trays. Not quite the same atmosphere as that caboose, though, and not quite such a rock star as Steven Tyler.
Oh, I think the image of Bon Jovi eating cafeteria food trumps my caboose by far! That's too funny!!!
It was quite a sight.
Tonight's concert is looking amazing. They played Bad again(!) along with Pride, Ocean...
AAAHHHHHH!!!! I'm cryin' on the inside that I'm going to Boston I! Tiff, skip the rest of this post...I don't want to jinx you!
I'm betting money Tiff gets Bad at Seattle II. It looks like it may pop up as an "alternative set" regular (if there is such a thing). You know, I can live w/o seeing it in Boston. I just want to hear it ONCE. If I catch it even once, I'll be more than happy (though I would LOVE to hear it at every show, don't get me wrong!!!) I think I could live w/o The Ocean. I like it, but it's only like 1.5 minutes long. If that's what it took to squeeze the epic that is Bad in, I'd take it gladly though!!!
Tis all.
Your theory sounds accurate to me, mabel, which doesn't bode well for either of us. And I would kill to hear that song, too.
(eta: I meant that in the hyperbolic sense, not in the psycho killer sense, in case you were worried. )

Oh, I think your show is definitely an anything goes type of situation. It's the only show on that leg (they may just go nuts, considering it an extension of the NJ shows???) I'd expect anything and everything there. I'd be SHOCKED if you got the standard setlist (at least New York or Angel of Harlem, if nothing else...this is just a gut guess, I don't really have any clue, but that's my bold prediction!)
*creams* Pride AND Bad? Seriously...I will cry. I just warned my friend last night when we booked the hotel. I will cry. I think I'll get very very excited at Streets too, just because the opening is so exciting...I wish I could hear it in Vancouver because it's the Canucks' theme song, so the crowd'll go ape****.
Tiff, I would cry too! You must be so excited right now.
mabel, I'd expect a New York song thrown in MSG, too. I would love to hear Angel of Harlem. But of course that would take the place of one other alternative song (such as Bad). Oh well, I guess we'll see.
I'd love to hear Angel of Harlem at one of the shows in October (hands down over New York).
Tiff, there's no shame in crying. I'm sure there'll be plenty of nuts on the floor w/ you, so no worries! I'll be watching the setlist updates like a hawk on Monday!!!
ETA: I just don't get Tori Amos (she's on Leno now). I have a friend who'd do serious physical damage to me for saying that, but...she's lost on me.
Really? You think Angel of Harlem over NY? I'm sure NY has to be on ONE of them...I would anticipate the opener and the closer. Listened to Achtung Baby again today...good CD. Probably the best one of the '90s, eh?
Okay, I'm off, ladies.
I have to stop thinking about msg; it's a month away (exactly a month, actually) and I'm already fantasizing about setlists.
And yes, I'll be checking setlist updates on Monday right there with you, mabel!
ETA: I thought mabel meant she'd prefer Angel of Harlem. So would I.

I've been listening to Achtung Baby nonstop the past few days (trying to get back into that groove, since they seem to be doing Zoo Station, The Fly, and Mysterious Ways on a regular basis). Since I don't have Zooropa or Pop (only heard the songs they've done at live shows/the ones on the Best Of, it's not like I'm exactly well-informed). Though, I'd say Achtung Baby and The Joshua Tree are the quintessential albums of their respective decades.
And yeah, definitely Angel of Harlem over New York. With the plethora of other songs to pick from, I don't think I'd want both in one show, and it'd be Angel for me all the way. Though, I'd be happy to hear one at one Saturday and one Monday. That could work!
Night Elphie!!! You crazy serial killer you!!!
'Night Elphie!
I totally agree with you. Every U2 fan should have Joshua Tree (and Unforgettable Fire, if there was a second important '80s CD) and Achtung Baby. I tried to listen to Pop the other day, and I took it out and stuck it somewhere under my bed. No need for that. Anything worth listening to on here is on the Best Of. If only it didn't have Discotheque...
*crys looking at the setlist for Denver tonight* Bad and Gloria. I wish I were going to Boston II. I don't think I'll even want to look at that setlist. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being an ingrate. I'm thrilled that I'm lucky enough to go to so many shows, but I can't help but be a little peeved that it looks like I may be missing some goodies. Makin it up in October, baby!
ETA: I SO want to just make you a CD of various recordings of Discotheque, Tiff.
Well, Boston is still a month away, right? They're going to use the next few weeks to fine tune and figure out what works and what doesn't. So maybe by mid/late-May, it'll be down to a science and you'll get Bad, Gloria AND Pride!
Oooh, that'd make me SO happy! And maybe you'll get the tour premiere of Discotheque. I'll be keeping happy Boom-Cha thoughts for you!!!
Whoa!!! Rumors have it on interference that Streets might not have been played (something like the first time in 15-16 years!!!) Hope that's just a miscommunicato! I know it's kind of been lacking umph lately, but I don't think I could handle the pretty much ONLY staple not making the cut (for goodness sake, if you're going to cut something, cut ELEVATION!!!)

NO STREETS?!?!!? NO ZOO STATION?!?!? NO YAHWEH?!?!? I'm not a huge fan of Yahweh, but I rather liked the new acoustic version. I like Original, but...I don't know. I don't think I like this set. Well, they did get Bad, so...but wait! No Streets!!!!
Scratch the above rant...I guess it sounds like they did sing Streets (but not Zoo Station and Yahweh). I was a smidge freaked for a minute there. God, I need to get some sleep!
No Yahweh?? It's not he best song, but it would be fun to sing along to. I really love Zoo Station - I don't see why it's on rotate to begin with!
Seriously, if anything should be on rotation, it's Elevation. How can that song have been in EVERY setlist (and they've even commented during and after shows that it sounded SH*Tty)?!?!?! I could also totally deal w/ Miracle Drug being rotated out for another Bomb song. What else?? It wouldn't kill me to loose Bullet (once would be enough).
