Mabel, that was the very Paul McCartney concert that I was at!!! Small world, eh? We could have been right next to each other. I was the startlingly attractive blonde that everyone was admiring. Surely you remember me. I had to keep reminding folks to turn around and look at Paul, not me.
*sigh* It's tough being gorgeous.
How cool is that Ellie?!?!? I just checked out the seating chart, and I wanna say I was in section 205. I recorded the show, so I'll make you a copy and give it to you in October! Certainly not the best quality, but it's always fun to have recordings of actual shows you were at, I think!

That's why I hope U2 record the MSG shows for the DVD! October will mark the second concert we will both have attended - see you there!
Cool indeed! It was a great show. You weren't the one I saw crying were you? I wonder if his latest tour will be as Beatles-friendly. I can't remember exactly where I was sitting in 2002...it was in the 100s though. 'Twas a fab show. It's nice to be able to converse with a fellow Beatles fan...someone who doesn't refer to Paul as Mr.McCarthy.
Yeah, I think it was 205...if not it was somewhere around there. I know it was a 200 section near the stage on that side. For being way up there, they were great tix! It was such a great show. I'm hoping he's as Beatles-friendly this time around. I was not a fan of Driving Rain. I think I listened to it once or twice. The 3 or so songs from it were enough for me!

Yes, 3 from Driving Rain is more than enough. Not that I don't love all of Paul's work...*nervous giggle*...
Anyway ladies...I'm off out for a wild Friday night now, and in the morn I shall head to Atlantic City, so fare thee well until after the weekend. I'm off to see Green Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Did you hear me? Green Day! I just know they will be amazing.
Bye!
Aaaand I'm back from dinner w/ friends. I was supposed to go see The Interpreter, but I passed...just as well, because I'm feeling a little funky (funnily enough, my roommate's watching 20/20 and they're doing a story on food poisoning...not that I think I have food poisoning, but something's not agreeing w/ me)
Anyway, have a blast tomorrow Ells. I expect a full report after Green Day!
Aw, sorry mabel. I don't think that movie got great reviews, anyway.
I know, I heard it was bad too (and I'm not a Kidman fan anyway...sorry Ellie!), but my friend was an extra in it(a delegate at the UN)...not sure if she actually made the final cut or not though. So, we were going to check it out to see.
Thanks for sympathy, Elphie! I think I'm hitting the rack early. God, it's not even 11!!! This is just sad.
mabel, you and your expressions/unfamiliar words! "Hitting the rack" made me laugh. I've never heard that before, I always used "sack." And don't worry, I'm pretty pathetic too. It's a Friday night and while most people are out partying, the roomie and I stayed in and watched cheesy movies. I hope you feel better!
My love for Bono is monumental, but somehow Elevation just doesn't seem like it would sound good live. Those "Ooh-ooh-ooh"s have the potential to be very off-key, and the song itself is just...why?
Thank GOD, ladies! We're rid of the blondie wench for the weekend! Who needs Green Day anyway, when you have U2 coming up in three days??
Oh, and on Interference, someone said that apparently there may be a strict no-camera policy in effect. I'm wondering if I should buy a disposable to smuggle in just in case. I can't be on the floor and NOT take pictures, right???
Hee...hitting the rack. I thought you were referring to...never mind. I'm incoherent and exhausted. My last all-nighter of the semester is over!
Hmmm...add another quirky saying of mine to the list!
Tiff, I saw that about the cameras too. Very strange, since they've been so lax about them at every other venue. At least you're going to the second show, so you can see what the deal is w/ folks tomorrow. I also read that they aren't giving out wristbands/numbers for GA, so once you get there, you have to stay there all day (or at least someone in your party, like you can only leave for a few to get food/go to the bathroom). Strange for Seattle to have such different rules. Though, I think I would definitely go for a disposable camera. Totally worth $10 or so just in case, right??
OMFG...if this is true... *changes pants*
1. Bono in Vancouver -- NOW?
2. Vancouver as the filming location for the DVD??
Totally unconfirmed on both counts (although apparently Vancouver was the Pacific Northwest homebase for U2 when they performed in Seattle for either the last tour or the one before that)...I need to change my pants. Practically speaking, it makes sense since they've probably perfected the acoustics and lighting there by now...a teeny part of me hopes it's not true so I don't kick myself for being stuck going to London instead. (THIS could make me resent the Euro vaca.)
https://forum.interference.com/t124527.html
Hmmm, I suppose it would make sense. Though, I was really hoping for MSG It'd be a wicked pisser if they do end up shooting at Vancouver and you miss it, but I hope it doesn't make you resent your Euro vacation! I'm sure you'll have a great time...wish I could be going!
Seriously? Vancouver? I was hoping for MSG, too. Still am. And Tiff, going to Europe is a great opportunity that you were wise to take. Besides, if they do record the dvd in Vancouver, it might not even be at the show that you had tickets to.
Another mabelism that made me laugh: "It'd be a wicked pisser..."
Ooooh, ooooh!!! We've named them now! A mabelism!!!
I'll definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for MSG. Come on, 5 shows in one week!!! Though, I suppose if it had to be a non-MSG show, I'd be happy w/ Vancouver, since it would seem that they would have had more time to have fine-tuned the acoustics, etc.
Though, I don't think I'm too keen on that plucking a pre-planted kid thing. That seems kind of lame, if you ask me. Who the hell is this little boy, and don't you think 3 (including the DVD recording) trips on stage is a bit much?!?! I'm sure there are plenty of other cute kids that are kicking around in GA.
I think they deserve a name, and mabelism fits nicely!
Some people were saying on Interference that 92.3 K-rock was reporting that MSG on 5/21 was postponed. Has anyone else heard anything like that? Some people said they were joking, but it scared me! I don't know if I could go if it were postponed!
WTF?!?!? I'm going over to interference to see what they've got to say. I don't really listen to the radio, so I haven't heard what KROCK has to say. I don't see why it would be cancelled? Hmmm...was it under "general tour discussion" for the Vertigo Tour??
ETA: I think it sounds pretty bogus. I'll let you know if I read/hear anything else about it though.
Just a quickie before I skip off to bed...YAY TIFF!!! It's officially U2 day!!! WOOHOO!!! (Well, on the east coast at least!...I'm not kicking around until it's past midnight for you.) Have a blast, get up close, take pix if you can, and savor every minute of it! *sending out good GA vibes*...*sending out more vibes for a great setlist*
At this time...in 12 hours...I'll be trickling out of the Key Arena...hopefully in a good mood. *suppresses squeal*
I haven't been home all day and I've yet to start packing for tomorrow and Europe. I don't even know what I'm going to wear to the concert tomorrow!
I think I'll wear my brown boots to give me a wee bit o' 2' elevation. I just don't know what my outfit will be.
This appears to be the final set list from tonight:
LAPOE
Vertigo
Elevation
Electric Co
An Cat Dubh
Into the Heart
COBL
Beautiful Day
Mircale Drug
SYCMIOYO
New Years Day
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Bullet the Blue Sky
Running to Stand Still
Pride
Streets
One
ZooStation
The Fly
Mysterious Ways
All Because of You
Yahweh
40
Pretty generic. Can't say I'm entirely disappointed (No I WILL FOLLOW?? MOTHERF*CKERS!). Nope, not disappointed at all. I can live without hearing Yahweh live - I'm just sort of scared that since they played Zoo Station tonight, it won't be rotated on tomorrow's list. It looks good for Gloria AND Bad though!
I've picked up a cheap disposable camera, and my fully charged digital too! Fingers crossed that digitals are allowed in, ladies! You know this is the first place I'll run to post them!
I'm so excited, I can barely contain myself.
Well, Tiff, have a blast!!! I'm sure you're already gone, but I was going to suggest getting a cheap pair of flip-flops that you wouldn't care about tossing, wear those all day in line, and then switch to your others w/ heels around concert time.
Yet another night w/ the standard setlist for the first show in a city. Guess that's what I'm getting in Boston. It's totally fine, as long as we get some good stuff in October! Not that the standard setlist isn't full of good stuff...I'd like a variety of good stuff. I want it all!!
What else??? Oh, I checked for Paul McCartney tix in Boston, just for kicks, since I happened to be on ticketbastard around 9:55 and they were going on sale at 10. I got a pair of $50 tix right near the stage, in the hightest section in under a minute wait. I tossed them back and tried again, coming up w/ nothing. So, I'm thinking it's going to be a bit of a challenge getting tix (definitely take the first pair to pop up when MSG goes on sale...whenever the hell that is! It's still not even listed)
Ellie, hope you had fun at Green Day. We're still waiting on a full report!
Anyway, I'm off...busy day. I've got to do laundry, go to the bank, go to class, meet w/ a prof about a journalism article, and then a friend and I are going to try for student tix to Hurlyburly. I'm picking away at my "to see" list. Need the 'rents to let me know what they're going to want to see when they come to help pack me up (totally a three person job, with my cursed pack-ratting!) I saw ...Virginia Woolf? on Sat, and have a cheapie to see All Shook Up (not even on the list, but the ticket was too cheap to pass up) for tomorrow.
Have a good one, ladies!
Mabel, I'm so jealous that you live in NYC and can go see shows whenever you want. When I get home from school (on SATURDAY!) I'm going to try to go into the city as much as possible. I have tickets to Sweet Charity and Spelling Bee, and I want to see DRS, maybe Chitty, maybe Piazza...I don't know how I'll survive for 5 months without New York when I'm in New Zealand. I can't wait to move there. I hope you get to see Hurlyburly, it sounds good.
Tiff, I guess I missed you, so since you'll be reading this once you get back, I hope you had a GREAT time! I'm sure you did. I'll be following the setlist on interference and thinking of you!
Yeah, it certainly is nice to be in the city!!! Though, I'll be going home in a couple of weeks until the end of May, and then (*knock on wood*) off to work at West Point for the summer, so I've got to try to get in as many shows now as possible! I've heard good things about Hurlyburly, and I think I'll have a better shot at student tix, now that they've moved to a bigger theatre. We shall see!
Anyone here to follow the concert with me? It's coming up! (kind of). Supposedly Eddie Vedder is playing with Kings of Leon tonight. I'm not too familiar with him, but it should add some excitement to their set I believe.
