No! Not kidney bits!!! Say it ain't so!!!
Or liver bits, Mabel! This is a serious situation!
Well, I'd say so!!!
I've been keeping an eye out on eBay, and I don't know about MSG because I've only been keeping tabs on Seattle and Vancouver, but there are so many seats being sold, that there's a pretty good chance you can buy tickets off there without spending much more over the face value! At first I was thinking "$400 for 2 tickets?? That's CRAZY!!" and I realized many of them (not all) were in the lower section, which was $165. So do keep an eye out!
Wooohooo!!! My U2 tickets came in the mail today!!! I feel so much better knowing that they are here (especially after my initial nervousness about not getting an email confirmation for them!!!)
Any update of the tix MadeofGold?!? I'm still pullin' for ya!!!
yay mabel!
I just got my ticket, too. It worries me a little, though, because its one of those TicketFast tickets (a pdf file that you send through e-mail). That means it can be printed out more than once. But the person who sent it to me seems trustworthy, and if he wanted to rip someone off I'm guessing he would have sold it on e-bay or something instead of offering to sell it to me for face value.
I would tend to think that the folks on u2tours and interference are on the up and up(s?...hmmm, looks weird either way and I just kind of ramble it out when I say it...which is it?!?!?). If he doesn't prove to be legitimate, I'd blast him out online! But I think you're right; I would tend to think that someone out to scam would post on eBay or (even more likely) craigslist (since they don't seem to have any real means of tracking the sellers down/there's no feedback, etc.)
Ladies! The day has arrived! Our babes are performing (and nominated for sadly one category only) on the Grammys tonight! Woohooooo!
(PS. That TicketFast thing seems kind of sketchy. Is it possible for you to bring it to a ticketbastard outlet and have an actual ticket printed out instead? Not that it'll diminish the chance that other people with the same ticket could do the same.....)
No, I don't think they'll let me do that, Tiff.
Mabel, you're right, I could definitely call him out on it if something went wrong, but that would only be after the show that I would have missed. I'll just have to cross my fingers. I think I'll ask him for his cell # so I can call him if they don't let me in (they say that if you have problems you can show them ID and the credit card with which you purchased the tickets). Of course if he planned on ripping me off, he wouldn't give me his correct phone #. So it looks like I'll just have to hope that it works out.
Does he have 100% feedback? How long has he been a member?
I'll be keeping good, positive thoughts for you! I would like to think that people on those boards are really fans who aren't out to screw you. I wonder if it didn't end up working out if you'd be able to get your money back from moderators at U2tours/interference (I forget which you said you ended up getting it from). Since you have to register, etc...they'd have to have some info on him/her. Also did you pay through paypal or anything (do they have any sort of money back guarantee for services/goods provided?)? Just a thought. I'm sure it won't come to that, though!
Oh, and Tiff, I think I read somewhere that U2 opted to only allow "Vertigo" to be submitted for eligibility this year, and the rest of the album would be submitted next year (something like that...I think they did that w/ "Beautiful Day"/ATYCLB a few years ago...but I may be wrong? Dunno.)
He's on u2tours.com, so there's no feedback. He's been a member for 2 weeks. Should I be worried? :-/
eta: you're right about that, mabel. I think they could do that because Vertigo was released as a single before the album was released.

Can you do that, Mabel? Hold back a CD until the following year even when it's already been released? It's a pretty savvy move - since legs one, two and *fingers crossed* three will be going likely until the beginning of next year, their hype will be at the max!
#1Elphie, I think if you paid through PayPal, there are ways to get your money back if he screws you over, right? (Then again, it'll be after the show has happened. ) I'm not too familiar with u2tours.com. Can you find out if he's sold other tickets to people before?
I think it was something about the "Vertigo" single being released so far in advance of the actual CD coming out. So, I guess they planned it so that the single would be eligible this year, but the album itself was released after the cut off date. It could be a very smart move (to spread the wealth) or a not so smart move (if the album is forgotten by the time the Grammy Awards roll around next year).
I don't know if he's sold tickets to anyone else, but it would only be for this tour (he's only been a member for 2 weeks), which hasn't started yet, so no one would know if he's reliable (they'd only find out once they got to the show and couldn't get in with the ticket they had). And yes, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to get my money back if something happened because I'm paying through Pay-Pal. But, like you said Tiff, that would be after the show, which is what I really care about! The one thing I think is strange is that he mentioned that he ordered himself an actual ticket, the kind that they mail to you. Why would he do that and then buy the extra one through TicketFast? Just seems weird to me. I'm trying not to worry about it, though. There's nothing I can do now.
I'm so excited for the Grammys tonight. Anyone know when they're performing in the line-up (towards the beginning, end, etc.)?
How do you even get these TicketFast tix? Is it an option on ticketmaster to avoid the (in)convenience fees? I've never really noticed the option...though it's not like I really looked. As much as I bitch about paying the extra fees, it's almost worth the extra $8-10 just to have a real ticket stub of the event. I'm a bit of a packrat that way! I keep all of my ticket stubs from concerts/plays (all my Playbills, even when it's a repeat visit...I have a serious problem w/ that! I can't help it! It's genetic! My mom's a HUGE packrat, as was her father. I didn't stand a chance!) I was also wondering before you mentioned that he had a ticket for himself, if he was going to the concert as well. I was thinking maybe he was just selling an extra that a friend or whoever couldn't use, so you'd know that it was legit, since he'd be there too...guess that's no the case though. Unfortunately, I guess there's nothing else you can do but wait and see.
Oh, and I'm not sure when they're performing, but Bono's also performing in a special number to benefit the tsunami relief effort. Here's the blurb from U2log.com:
"This year’s 47th Grammy Awards will be marked by a unique rendition of the Beatles’ Across the Universe, with all proceed going to the tsunami relief. Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich contacted Yoko Ono and managed to get the right to the song, which will be performed by such stars as Tim McGraw, Alicia Keys, Brian Wilson, Al Green, Stevie Wonder and of course our very own Bono, and all that backed by Velvet Revolver. After the performance, the song will be made available on iTunes, with the entire $.99 cost going to the tsunami relief charities.
In addition to this, donations will be taken via CBS.com which will offer an exclusive video stream of the performances, as well as some bonus footage.
The Grammy Awards will be broadcasted live on CBS, sunday February 13, 8pm Eastern Time.
Yes, thanks, I saw that and I'm excited to see how they organize that song!
So U2 won "best short form music video" for Vertigo: what exactly does that mean?
Hnuh? What is that? Where are you guys seeing this? Isn't it not on for another 10 minutes? (Yay me for having digital cable nad east coast network access!)

2nd to last category.
Wicked won as well!
Well, I don't know about you, but I'm just tickled pink that
"Let's Kiss: 25th Anniversary Album" - Brave Combo won for Best Polka Album!!!
On a slightly more serious note: Yay for Garden State!!!!
Its a good thing they don't present all those on TV...we would be here for a loooong time.
I know...don't they have 100+ categories?!?!?!
SYCMIOYO...how ambitious...will he hit "the note"?!?!?!?
ETA: Guess he did...Good on ya Bono! He just kind of openened his mouth and nothing came out in Brooklyn (though the recording that surfaced has been "doctored" a bit...hmmm)
Bump...
I saw this today...I don't know if U2/magic show is quite what I was expecting/hoping for!!! Though the picture is quite amusing, I must say!!
The Magical Mystery Tour?!?!?!
