I'm a "vigin"? Sorry, Liam, what was that? A "vegan"? Nosiree!

But I mean, this girl was a virgin to not only their concerts, but she doesn't own a single one of their CDs! When we were in the car, I was like, "Can you name the four members?" "Uh..Bono...and...umm...*nervous giggle*...There's four of them?"

Can she name them now? If so, then I suppose it was worthwhile. Not that they need any more fans! Even more demand for tickets, damnit!

And is this the girl from the escort agency, because you couldn't find anyone else?

No, she still cannot name them. She knew Bono. And she remembers Edge. But "Larry" and "Adam" get a blank stare. She's convinced there's an "Alan". Who? Jackson?

And Brutus wasn't from an escort agency. It was a companionship serivce. But they kept calling it "the Parole Department" for some reason.

Thanks for the welcome, Type_A_Tiff! I was a bit surprised to find this thread on a Broadway message board, actually - but I'm glad I did. At first when I saw the tonnes of replies I thought there must be lots of U2 fans here, but it turns out it's just the same three or four posting again and again! Oh well - can I join the club? re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Mabel, I've actually entered a couple of competitions to win U2 tickets myself - with no luck, of course. Anyway, keep trying!

And I love your avatar, Ellie3. Green Day is one band that I actually DID manage to get tickets for!

Welcome Jezebelre: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! I am a slacker and drop in about 1/5 as much as the other girls, but come join our little fandom corner of the world!

Mabel, how right you are....once you go, um, Irish, you never go, um....well never mind. I can't think of a suitable rhyme. But the bottom line is that once you see these geniuses live it's like a drug and you just want MORE!!!!!!!!! SQUEEEEE!!!!!
re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

(And in spite of all the pomp and circumstance on some 90s tours--responding belatedly to a Jezebel question--I think they sound BETTER now than when I saw them on the ZooTV tour! Of course they were amazing then too, but they are just tight as a drum these days...musical gold I tell ya, GOLD! And I LOOOVE the lights on this tour--it's JUST enough, but still spare and stripped down.)

Damnit. Now I'm all riled up and I'm not seeing them again until November!!

Ellie, when are you and Billy Joe getting your MTV reality show? I would totallyy watch thatre: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

City of Blinding Lights
Vertigo / Walk this Way snippet
Elevation
Gloria
The Ocean
Beautiful Day / Dream On snippet
Miracle Drug
Sometimes You Can't... / No Regrets snippet
Love and Peace
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Bullet The Blue Sky / Johnny snip/ Hands snip

~Encore 1~
The Fly
Until the End of the World

With or without You
~Encore 2~

Original of the Species dedicated to pregnant moms
BAD

BASTARDS!!! I hit my head to the desk when I first checked a few minutes ago when it was listed up through WoWY, and I literally slid out of my chair when I saw Bad added! Un-F*CKing-Believable! If I could have crafted my ideal setlist, I'd say this'd be pretty damn close. *biiiiiig sigh* Oh what a difference one show can make...(note to self: avoid first shows like the plague!!!)

Oh I would have checked it eventually anyway (looking for boots and whatnot...waiting would have only prolonged the inevitable!)

Oh and they added 40 to Bad...and apparently the crowd is still chanting "how long..." What a wicked pisser! Oh well. I've got two more shots to hear Bad (kind of figure Gloria'll be dropped by the third leg)

Gloria, Bad, Until the End of the World, OUT OF CONTROL(!!!) and With or Without You. I was convinced they'd come back and do OOC last night after 40.

I'm currently teetering on that fine line and jumping into royally pissed off territory (mainly at myself, because I remember a post on craigslist MONTHS ago looking to trade tix in a section near mine Thurs for Tues) MABEL, YOU FOOL!!! I'm sure by the weekend (after Saturday's show trumps this one) I'll get over it, but I'm going to wallow in self pity for going to (arguably) the tamest show of the leg, and missing out on (arguably) the best show of the leg. I'll be over it soon, but I'm going to swim in my self pity until my fingers get all pruney this evening! (Thanks French Kiss for that line!)

ETA: That I've come to the conclusion that it sucks (as a general rule) to be pissed off about something that you really have no right to be quasi-bitter about. And I'd like to apologize to Jezebel for my bitching. Geez, I'm lucky to have been to a show, while you're here ticketless! And I've got two more shots to hear some of these songs...but, really it's hard to argue w/ these two setlists! *shakes head realizing my extremely good fortune w/ my amazing spot in Brooklyn and that Coldplay concert was bound to catch up w/ me sometime!*

A sincere tear almost trickled down my pretty, rosy cheek when I read the set list that you missed. Then I remembered you're (WE'RE!!) seeing MSG II and IV of leg 3. And then I didn't feel so bad for you anymore.

I have to admit though, that is damn close to my ideal set list as well. Now...the set list that includes I Will Follow...my head will hit desk. In the mean time, I had to be satisfied with wiping off my seat when I read "Vertigo/Walk This Way". Dude. Yet another show to add on my list of bootleg wants. BTW, where did you download 5/21? Is it a .zip file? It's taking FOREVER on my comp so I've given up. And I'm still waiting for a decent and easy-to-DL Chicago IV boot. And that apparently fantastic Seattle 2 show. Even though I have the one with the whistler, I want a better one.

Oh yeah, #1Elphie, you shared MSG with Julia Roberts, Ed Burns, Naomi Watts, Nic Kidman AND Liev Schreiber! Suddenly sharing Key Arena with Bill Gates and that Vedder punk doesn't seem so cool.

Watts and Schreiber an Item?

Australian actress Naomi Watts and American actor Liev Schreiber appear to be dating, after being spotted together several time in New York city. Only days after it was reported Watts was dating a mystery film producer named Gary, the I Heart Huckabees beauty, 36, has been photographed in a Manhattan park with the 37-year-old The Manchurian Candidate star. American newspaper New York Daily News reports Schreiber, Watts and her best pal Nicole Kidman attended Saturday's U2 concert at Madison Square Garden, where the blonde "spent much of the concert sitting on Liev Schreiber's lap". Two days later, the couple attended the annual benefit for theatre company Naked Angels together. It is believed the pair met at the Museum Of Modern Art's Costume Institute Gala on May 2, where both were guests. Schreiber has previously been romantically linked to Sex And The City star Kristin Davis, while Watts ended her two-year relationship with her Ned Kelly co-star Heath Ledger in May 2004.

How did you all manage to get multiple tickets?

Was there a high demand for Madison Square Garden?

And thanks grownupgroupie, it's good to know they're getting better with age!

And sorry Mabel, but I'm having a hard time trying to feel sorry for you. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

I got lucky w/ tix by manning 4 computers in the lab at school (w/ their super high speed connection). I really didn't have any inclination to go to 2 at MSG in the fall, but better tix popped up for the Monday show, so I couldn't resist!

I got tickets from U2tours.com and from E-Bay (the one from E-Bay was actually below face value).
Jezebel, at MSG, they gave out TONS of tickets at the box office the day of the show. Like thousands I heard. The line was insanely long when I got into the city at 3pm (about 400-500 people I would say), and I heard about people who got in line at 6pm and still got tickets, so that means they gave away a lot.

Mabel, I'm so sorry; that Boston II setlist sounded practically perfect. I know you must be so pissed, I would be. But just keep thinking that you have two more chances to see them!

Tiff, I read about all those celebs at MSG (you forgot David Bowie; they played Jean Genie in honor of his presence). Unfortunately I didn't see any of them. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! I didn't know Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber were dating, but they make a cute couple I think. And by the way, I was DIRECTLY behind the stage and the screens/lights didn't obstruct my view at all.

Oh, and I downloaded the 5/21 show as a bit-torrent (it was a SHN file). I can send it to you if you want.

Jez, I was a total psycho, that's how. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! I got online 15 minutes before the Vancouver and Seattle shows went on sale, and hit Refresh 80,000 times. I wound up with several pairs of Vancouver tickets (surprisingly, Vancouver was one of the fastest sellers - both shows were totally sold out in under 6 minutes each!), and by sheer luck, I got floor tickets to the second Seattle show. Then Mabs and I both tried for MSG tickets at the same time, and I was able to get a couple of pairs for Monday's show, and Mabs got tickets for Saturday and Monday (better seats). So I threw back one pair for Monday (sorry!), and kept the other pair, which is going to broadway_star_tomorrow and shbrt_alley44. Somehow Mabel has a freakishly quick ability to score decent seats though - I think she practices more than she's willing to admit. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Well I admire your skills!

I tried to get tickets to three shows - the first two were IMPOSSIBLE. I was online and on the phone simultaneously, all to no avail. I was so disappointed, especially when it seemed the whole world and his dog were going. And then they announced a third date, so I was delighted! But unfortunately, in an effort to beat touts, the tickets went on sale without any prior warning - while I was at work. By the time I found out, they had sold out. I was (and am) SO disappointed.

Anyway - sounds like there still might be hope at the box office on the actual day! So all is not lost, I suppose.

And speaking of Coldplay, I'm seeing them next month! And Scissor Sisters/Franz Ferdinand/Maroon 5 are doing a joint concert in August which I might go to. But I'd swop them all for U2! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Aaaaand I have just fallen over. Where the hell do you live??? Is this in NYC? I will seriously consider coming out to see them. I saw Maroon 5 last year, but I've been going on and on about Scissor Sisters and Franz like you can't imagine. Screw Bono - I'd go to THAT show!

(No, I'd still choose Bono. But I'd still think long and hard about this one.)

#1Elphie, oops yeah, I just read about Bowie as well. And apparently P. Doody was macking on Nicole Kidman back stage. Ew.

Jez, I'd say if you're over the pond, there's bound to be some tix released on the day of at the box office. We're talking stadiums w/ what, 80,000 seats?!? Keep plugging and check out interference, u2tours, and 4throck.com/u2.

Have fun at Coldplay! Tix go on sale on June 6th here. I'm sure I'll give it a whirl, though I'm not thrilled about shelling out $50 for their cheapest seats (definitely not up to spending $70, really $80 w/ ticketbastard's (in)convenience fees).

That other Scissor Sisters/Franz Ferdinand/Maroon 5 concert sounds like a blast too!...Not a huge Maroon 5 fan, but I'd be more than happy if any of them opened for U2 on the fall. Kings of Leon totally blew! Awful, awful, awful (especially from all the way across the arena). I can't remember if I posted this here or was just telling my friend, and since I'm too lazy to look it up, I'll just post it again....I found it rather telling that I spent KoL's entire set watching them on the screens (well, when I was watching them and not talking to my friend...they didn't exactly capture our interest) while I think I looked at the screens while U2 was on once or twice. They totally radiated their energy all the way to the very last row, clear across the arena. Twas amazing!

I'm actually from the same place as U2, Dublin.

And yeah, you would THINK you'd be able to get a ticket to one of three shows at an 80,000 capacity venue, but....no. There's rumors of adding a fourth show, so here's hoping! The demand is insanely high.

I'm not mad on Maroon 5 myself, but I do love Scissor Sisters and Franz Ferdinand! Have you heard their albums? The concert is in a smaller stadium (30,000), but there doesn't seem to be any sign of it selling out yet. And while we're in concert mode, I got some tickets for a Blondie gig last week - any fans here? The show isn't until December but the tickets are on sale already - madness! Elton John is playing here in July as well, so I'll probably go to that as well.

If only money grew on trees!

I enjoy Blondie, and Elton John as well! I saw Elton from the front row a few years ago! Those were tix I got the day of the show too, so there is always hope at the last minute.

While the Dublin shows are "sold out" as of right now, I'd tend to believe that something's gonna surface as the dates get closer. It'd be mad to see them at Croke Park!!!...I'll drop you a PM if I happen to see anyone selling tix on any of the sites I'd mentioned earlier. I tend just just kind of skim over European dates, since that just wouldn't be in the cards for me, as much fun as it'd be! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Aww, bummer, the concert's in Dublin? Okay, I don't know if my funds will let me go THAT far. But lucky you! Croke Park...I'd give my left arm to see them there!

Anyway, just popping on really quickly - Mabs, if you still get an airing of Access Hollywood tonight, they have a segment with the boys on the road. It's commercial break now so I haven't seen it yet. Just thought you'd like to know!

Jezebel, I just took a quick peek on 4throck.com/u2, and they've got a bunch for the Dublin dates. Granted, most of them are for trade, but there were a couple of people w/ posts for sale/trade and I think there was a posting that was straight up, just for sale. Definitely worth signing up and checking in there periodically (they're all fans, so it's not like trying to buy from eBay or craigslist, where you'd risk getting a fake ticket...well, I guess there is always that chance, but I'd say it's MUCH less likely on that site).

Tiff, I think Access Hollywood already aired here. Pity!

Reading that Boston Herald article about those fans getting screwed out of thousands of dollars on bogus tickets has totally turned me off buying scalper tickets anywhere! (As if I'm one to talk - but I'm a nice and honest sometime-scalper!)

You didn't miss much on the Access Hollywood snippet - an interview with the boys...the interviewer asked how they keep their feet on the ground and come off the high of performing, and Adam said chamomille tea. Asked if they ever feel like they need more space, like, a year apart from each other (god forbid!!) and Bono said, "Sure, yeah. Every week." Oh, he jests. And Edge said something, but all I was thinking was, "Blah blah blah, lord he's a sexy Zen god, blah blah blah." and I honestly don't remember a word that came out of his mouth. And then Larry stuttered something about them not being deserving of getting into the Hall of Fame because there are so many other inspirational artists and they wouldn't be anywhere without them, and he looked so uncomfortable just spitting that one sentence out that now I know why he isn't the front man. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! But there wasn't anything really interesting in it.

But yeah, a Bono-Larry or Bono-Edge smooch...would that be so bad??

Thanks, Mabel!

I've signed up on 4ht.com/U2, and I'll definitely be keeping a close eye. Hope lives!! Everyone who's anyone seems to be going to the concerts - radio is constantly playing U2, there are competitions and advertisements galore, special buses have been laid, there's a U2 theme weekend on TV the weekend of the shows...I can't NOT go! Especially since I missed them at Slane as well.

U2 in Dublin would be amazing!! Better than even MSG I would imagine, but with 80,000 (!) people they'd probably be microscopic specks.

And I want to go to Scissor Sisters/Franz/Maroon 5! J'adore the Scissys, and Franz are great too. I'd put up with Maroon 5 just for to see those two. And ignore Tiff - she claims to be a fan but, if memory serves me correctly, she had an opportunity to see SS in a very intimate venue last year...which she passed on. I think that speaks volumes, don't you?

I missed Access Hollywood too. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! Larry never seemed nervous or anything to me before. And Larry is way more divine than Th'Edge - sorry but it's true.
