Brilliant.

Nothing useful to add here, really--just giving us a bump. Cheers, gals--just think, you'll be grateful for the horrific summer jobs as the season wears on and the A/C reveals itself as a critical part of your benefits packagere: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Awww groupie, thanks for the good thoughts re: our terrible jobs! Ever the optimist!!!

Drop me a pm sometime about the footwear. I may actually have the time to get it all sorted out...not sure about the Brooklyn DVD yet (maybe I can copy it at work?!?!?) but I can at least do the CDs!

Off to watch last night's episode of The Daily Show.

For what it's worth, this is the closest I've ever come to literally having juice come out of my nose. And it ain't a pleasant feeling in the sinuses. But thanks for that.

Well, considering your link was given that oh so high honor of topping your Adam moment, I think I shall save it for when I'm not at work! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

On a side note, I haven't been able to log on to AOL from IE since yesterday afternoon, but I can see that I have new mail (does that make sense?...whatever, I don't care). Tres annoying!

Mabel and I are on a video on mtv.com! (not that you can see us all that well or would be able to recognize us if you didn't know we were there, but hey, it's something). It's from the Coldplay concert we went to. You can see us when Chris is on the catwalk. We're directly next to him, to his right (to the left of him when viewing it on the screen). And you can see Mabel at the very end in the shot from the stage. If the video were clearer, you'd be able to see me drooling all over Chris. This video is Speed of Sound from the taping we attended, and you can see the whole thing on Sunday on MTV at 8 and on MTV2 at midnight. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! (I'll prolly be watching it after the Tonys).

That's great!

Their new album came out today here...I've listened to it once so far, and it's not grabbing me in the same way as their previous two...sorry! I imagine it'll be a grower, though. Some songs jump out more than others - I think Fix You is my fave so far. I can't wait to listen to it again though, so it must have someting going for it. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

And no Tonys for me - they don't show them here. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

I think Fix You is the one Mabel liked most as well. Bah, I've only heard Speed of Sound. And double bah, I can't get that MTV video thingy to work, it just keeps looping some stupid advert for Olay. Triple bah, I have a headache. Are Coldplay touring this year? I want to see them...I'd even let Chris sweat all over me, the sexy beast. I'd totally do him.

Quadruple bah, I have to go out now to see people I don't like.
Quintuple bah, I have nothing nice to wear.
Sextuple bah, I'm going to have to hug people.
Septuple bah, I have no money.
Octuple bah, I have to get a job.
Nonuple bah, my phone won't stop ringing.
Decuple bah, Tiff smells.

Fix You was my favorite song from the album. I wasn't that crazy about the album the first time I heard it, but hearing most of the songs live definitely made it more appealing to me. I think it might improve after listening to it for a while. And yes, Ellie, they're touring. In fact, I think some tickets go on sale tomorrow morning. Mabel, are you trying for those? And Ellie, quit whining. re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Yeah, I agree w/ everything Elphie said. Fix You is a favorite (as well as A Message and the bonus track Til Kingdom Come). It's definitely #3 for me in ranking; however, I look forward to hearing it again this week!

Tix for MSG go on sale tomorrow at 10. I'll be trying for a pair (not really sure who I'll bring...if anyone. I suppose if I don't have any takers and it's a hot ticket, I may try to sell the extra to cover some of my other concert expenses). A right pisser not having many friends who are Coldplay fans (and even fewer who'd be willing to shell out $40-50! Oh well, I'd have until September to find someone/sell it!

Oh and can I tell you how excited I am about being in the video?!? I'm just going to cut to the chase and say that the sarcasm's laid on there pretty thick...don't wanna take any chances since you never know on-line!

Hi guys...advice needed!

Do you think I should go for this or not?
Should I hold out for something better which may never come, or just settle for this seat, which is reasonably priced if a bit far away from the stage? Hmm, it's probably moot anyway - by the time I make up my mind, it'll probably be gone....

And thanks to Mabel for her helpful pointers!

Look!

Jez,

I'd totally go for it. I must say the lighting and everything was A-MA-ZING from a similar vantage point (albeit closer, I'm sure) in Boston. Look at it this way, at least you'd have something, and if another better ticket comes along, I'm sure you'd have very little trouble selling it again!

GOOD LUCK!

Oh, and I think my comment on being on MTV come off bitchier than I had hoped. Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly tickled w/ the idea of being on national TV looking like a total schmuck bopping around, but it'll still be fun to be able to say "See! Look how close we were!!!" I did keep looking for our group on MTV's Jammed U2. I guess there's just no pleasing me! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

*off to try for Coldplay tix*

Well, I got a pair of $40 seats for the Wednesday show. They're in Section 423, Row B, Seats 1 and 2. I sat in 405 for REM in about the 8th row, and while it was high, it wasn't so bad. It's still quasi-close to the stage, and while I do like Coldplay, I'm not about to shell out more than $50 (w/ fees) for them! I think I shall see how crazy the demand is for them, and if it looks totally nuts, maybe I'll try to sell the aisle seat to cover some of my expenses. I don't know. I have until September to figure it out!

Oh, and I had meant to say last night, re: Jez's comment about not caring so much for X&Y on your first listen...Chris Martin did happen to say that one listen to it would be like your first time having sex: disappointing and anti-climactic. Give it a few more goes and it'll just keep getting better...Or something like that. It really does seem to be one that'll get better the more you listen to it (and they REALLY played much better live).

Oh and HOORAY!!! It looks like they're pretty much sold out for both shows (my friend's checking on her laptop in the living room!) I'm off to check what crazy prices they're asking on craigslist and ebay.

I just checked on TM...guess they aren't totally sold out yet. Oh well...we shall see! It's not like I want to make a crazy profit on the other ticket. I'd just like to maybe pay for my own ticket (or a chunk of it). I popped on eBay, and it looked like mostly floor seats. *shrug* I'm perfectly happy w/ my quasi-decent nosebleed! I'm sure I'll be able to sell it to a friend, or someone on Coldplay.com for face if the demand isn't such that I can make a mini-profit...Tiff's rubbing off on me!!!

I'd say snap them up, Jezebel. You don't want to let this chance pass you by...then again...there is a whole football pitch between you and the stage...but like Mabel said, if a better one comes up, you can always get that and palm this one off on some poor sucker. I'm sure Tiff could give you some tips on scalping. (She's well known in the scalping world...)

And $40 for a Coldplay ticket is definitely worth it, Mabel! That's cheap when you compare it to Elton John, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Broadway shows etc. Although I'm sure MSG won't be quite as intimate as your last show!

Quick poll - Chris Martin - sexy or not? I'm finding him deliciously edible lately.

Yeah, Chris Martin didn't do a whole lot for me before his non-PG gyrating at the piano a couple of weeks ago! He's definitely not conventionally handsome, but there is something rather appealing, I must say!

And I figured $40 was worth it to see them and hear some of the older songs they didn't do at the MTV taping.

Jezebel, did you end up going for those tix? I hope you were able to grab them! I think they'd totally be worth it!!!...or it, right? It was just a single, wasn't it?...Still worth it! Seeing U2 anywhere in Dublin would be worth it!

re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates!

Ladies, I am back from the best concert I've ever been to (The Killers). I'm sorry, this is very hard to say, but it tops U2 for me. *runs and hides.* The whole thing was just amazing. I think it was a combination of the people around me and my location and the whole atmosphere. I was in the front row, right in front of the stage. There was a group of trailers to the left of the stage, surrounding a wooden deck. The band members wandered around the deck before they took the stage, so we got to observe them to pass the time once we were inside. Jay-Z and Keanu Reeves were also there, which was cool. Louis XIV played first, and they weren't bad. Then The Killers took the stage. They played all the songs from Hot Fuss except for "Believe Me Natalie" and "Everything Will Be All Right," and I wasn't too bummed about missing either of those. They also played some other songs (a B-side and a new one). The good thing about the fact that they have so few songs is that there's a pretty good chance of hearing what you want to hear.
Random funny moment: during Indie Rock 'N Roll (possibly my favorite song of theirs), while Brandon was singing "Stay if you wanna love me, stay, oh don't be shy, let's cause a scene, like lovers do..." this guy ran on-stage singing and tried to hug Brandon. A security guard came and dragged him away pretty quickly, but it was funny. The band went along with the song but Brandon was grinning and laughing for a while.
The energy was amazing, and Brandon is such a drama queen (he takes after Bono). He gets so into it. Because I was so close, I could see all his facial expressions and movements. Oh, and when he's playing the piano, he's similar to Chris Martin (except standing up); he bends his head right over the keys and gets so into it. I took 68 pictures, and I'll post a few to show you my view.

GREAT pix Elphie! I'm so glad you had a great time! (Kinda bummed I didn't go now! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! ) It was all GA, right? What time did you get there to get front row?!?!? I'm glad you got good weather too! Always a plus after all the rain we've been getting!!!

Oh, and that's cool that Keanu Reeves was there. I'm not a huge fan, but ever since Ui I've had a soft spot for him! He came to see the show twice and the people in the prod. office kind of make fun of him, asking if he'd brought a notebook to take some notes on quality acting...they even started calling him Canoe (and it stuck, so now whenever I see a new movie w/ him I'm like "Oooh, it's Canoe!!!") He seems like a cool guy though. I ushered one of the times he was there, and someone went to buy a candy bar but didn't have enough money, so he paid for it (was behind the guy in line), and I heard that he went to the pub across the street and just hung around w/ people that were in the audience chatting.

Yup, it was GA. I got there around 3pm (it started at 7:30) and I would say there were about 50 people ahead of me. It was a beautiful day, so I got to sit outside and read, listen to my iPod, and people-watch everyone walking around Central Park. They let us inside at 6pm, and I just sprinted up to the railing. The entrance was on the right side and most people were staying over there, but I was smart and ran around to the left side, where there was lots of space. You should have come! re: (Unofficial) U2 World Tour Dates! I'm still on cloud 9.
Keanu sounds sweet! I've never been such a huge fan of his acting, but he comes across as a really nice guy. During the concert, the VIPs (Jay-Z, Keanu, Louis XIV, the bandmates' friends and girlfriends, etc.) were hanging out on the deck to the side of the stage. I don't think they could see the stage from there, which was kinda strange. They're usually the ones who get the best seats!
