Ooh, thanks, Mabel! I don't know how I didn't find that website (I seriously searched forever). I just started downloading the Boston show (5/26) before I read Tiff's post, so if it works (which it should), I can send it to you (I'll PM ya before I send it to make sure Tiff hasn't beat me to it).
If you send it out in the next week and a bit, you'll probably beat me to it. It's in .mp3 format here - et tu?
Well, that could still be fun! At least it an option (albeit a less than stellar one). While we're talking about tix, if I see one more pair of GAs for Manchester for sale, I think I'm going to scream!!! I think I saw 4 pairs today on interferece and 4throck. Wouldn't want that to be the case in Dublin or NYC! Noooo!
Knowing my luck, I'd probably fall INTO the canal, Tiff!
And then drown.
Well, if I get the 5/28 from Italy, I'll send it to y'all. I haven't heard back from her since I sent my address, so I don't know if she'll end up falling through...it'd be fine if she does. I'll scrape them up somewhere, I'm sure.
I can't wait to see what they do on the 10th! You'd think I'd learn w/ setlist watching, but alas, I haven't!
Mabel, you want all the Boston shows but your own?!
And Tiff, mine's .WAV format.
But Jez, what a way to drown, eh? "I'm not the only ooooone, staaaring at the su--whoops! *glub...glub*"
Actually, unless I had like, two full days before the concert that I could set aside to camp out, I wouldn't want to have GA at a stadium concert. It was already difficult enough to see being in the second row. I think in a stadium, anything past 20th row would suck, and I mean, there's going to be how many layers of people? Ech...yuck. B.O. Ick.
I was supposed to get mine and BostonIII from Italy, but since the general consensus seems to be that the only people that want BostonI are those of us who were at it, I was just going to pass along III for you guys if/once I get it.
*raspberry to #1*
Was Boston I that bad though?? It was decent, oui?
Oh! Do either of you have Chicago II or IV??
That's so funny, Tiff! However, I'd probably fall in before U2 even made the stage, while Ash were on. Are you guys familiar with Ash? They're a fantastic band, I'd recommend you look them up!
And I think GA is a lot of hassle too - I always get stuck behind an hirsute, overweight giant, who keeps elbowing me in the chest. A good seat is the way to go, at least in a huge stadium.
I bid you ladies (?) a goodnight - wish me luck with my ticket endeavor!
Good luck, Jez! You've still got a few more days to figure something out!
I haven't heard of Ash before. What's their music like? (And if someone says, "Coldplay...you know, sort of a U2 feel." I will throw a shoe at them.)
I had a tentative trade set up for ChicagoIV. She was looking for a good copy of SeattleII. I think the one Elphie sent me to is pretty good, but I'd feel bad if it turns out to be the one she already has, so I guess I'll to wait and see if she wants to trade for SeattleII or something else. I really would like that show though!
And no, BostonI wasn't that bad. I know that I would have been more than happy if I'd had the standard I setlist for the earlier cities on the tour w/ NYD and ACD/ITH, but I was peeved that both were dropped for The Ocean...and only The Ocean. I thought the crowd was great, and I thought Bono sounded great, so it was wonderful from that standpoint. It goes back to Elphie and my Coldplay concert...you can't subtract from the "agreed upon" setlist w/o adding something sort of special. Please don't drop NYD/ACD/ITH and replace it w/ TO! If you wanted to replace them w/ IWF or OOC...SUPER! Coldplay: Please don't nix Yellow for a redo of another song. It's great that we get to hear something done again/better, but it's just mean to take off songs from a(n already short) setlist. That's all.
Night, and good luck, Jez.
And I agree that GA in a stadium would likely be a nightmare (unless you got beeped).
Yeah, I have to admit, after Gloria was concluded with The Ocean, I sort of stood there going, "Well...that was a downer." Nice to hear something different, but I'm just not a fan of that song anyway.
Does the Seattle II copy you have contain a really loud whistling guy for some of it? The one I have seems sort of muffled with the goddamn whistler. Especially after I listened to your Billy/Elton CD - that quality was amazing!
Wait, I sent you Seattle II? Do I have that one? I didn't think so, I have to go look now!
I think I do have that same copy. I honestly didn't notice the whistler the first time I listened to it, but after you mentioned him in an earlier post/PM, he pops up loud and clear at the beginning! I'd say it's probably the "worst" quality of the three Vertigo shows I have, but I still think it's pretty good. It's better than the couple of shows I recorded myself!
I don't necessarily dislike The Ocean. I don't love it by any stretch of the imagination, and I would never put in on a wish setlist, but the thing that irked me about it is that it's like an extended snippet...and it is a bit of a rally-killer.

You guys are ker-azy! Do you have every show?
And I've heard of Ash. They were on Conan once, methinks. They're Irish too, right?
Nah, I don't have too many, Ellie.
I've never heard of Ash.
Mabel, did you see the Coldplay supporting acts were announced? (I might just be really slow, but this is the first I've heard). Looks like you'll be seeing Rilo Kiley (I have no idea who that is).
I admit, that collecting boots can get a bit addicting (and being bored out of my mind at work doesn't help!)
I hadn't seen the opening act announcement for Coldplay. Hmmm...have to look into Rilo Kiley. I can't imagine how much more I would have disliked KoL if I hadn't heard their CD first. Always a good idea to have some idea of who you're going to be listening to methinks!

Shoot, I missed them...but they were probably sold out...
U2 or Coldplay, gavrochegirl?...Not that it really matters, since both are pretty much sold out...though I can probably direct you to some places to look for tix at face (or close to it)
Edited because my picture didn't come up, and I'm too lazy to fix it, so here's the link to the site:

Apology letter on U2tours.com
Hi girls and boys.....
That NYT article was lacerating! I also disagreed w/ their assessment of Coldplay's demographic, frankly.
Anyway, driving around yesterday I heard Speed of Sound, Bad, and Clocks at various points, and I have to say the influence is pretty unmistakable.
....and it never ocurred to me before, but Chris Martin is kind of hot. I have the VH1 storytellers thing on in the background, and...damn! Never even thought about it! Why can't I have a Bono/Chris liplock now that Liam has become an even bigger prat?
I can hear the U2 influences (as well as other artists in various songs), but I see it as being to the extent where people make comments like "Yeah, I liked Coldplay better the first time around when the were called U2."
Oh, and Ellie'll have a field day w/ this: I just bought a pair of tix behind the stage for U2 10/14. What can I say, they were $50, it's still my extended birthday weekend, and now I'll finally (maybe) be able to bring my mom to a show. Though, that sounds like it might not happen, since she went and booked a vacation w/ her and my dad for that week! @_@ Oh well, I know my ass'll be there! I expect the 5th show at MSG (after a few days rest) to be top notch! Whatever, you only live once, right?!? Besides, all my tix ended up being cheaper than buying one ticket from a broker...at least that's what I'm telling myself, as I check into the looney bin for compulsive ticket buyers!
Whee, congrats on the new tix, Mabel!!! You're getting prolific! Who will have seen more shows on this tour--you or Tiff?
"Yeah, I liked Coldplay better the first time around when the were called U2." -- LOL
