Y-y-yeah, but in the Chinese lunar calendar, 1991's actually 1988, so...*blushes*
I swear I knew that. The irony is I was actually going to say the first 3 songs on that album are amongst my favourites from the '90s.
*goes back into a corner*
When are we killing this thread again? Ah...heh...heh...heh...?

Favorite album cover - Zooropa. It's pretty! I also like the Andy Warhol vibe on the Pop cover. Worst - October, maybe.
Favorite HTDAAB song - Probably SYCMIOYO, but dunno really.
Favorite 80s song - Hmm, tough question, Ellie! But I'll plump with Desire. Wait, Angel of Harlem. No...Desire.
Favorire 90s song - HMTMKMKM! Maybe my fave U2 song ever!!
Pineapples - yay or nay? Fresh - yay! Tinned - nay!
Europe plans are going great - Amsterdam is on the agenda now too, so that'll be fun. Mightn't make it back for the start of college though, so that's a (minor) worry. New York plans are non-existant so far. 4 months to go - whee!

Oh this threads going nowhere until Ellie, Elphie, Groupie, and Jez read that you slipped up not knowing Achtung Baby's from the '90s!...Ok, that's just mean, capitalizing on your innocent slip up...oh well. Guess, I'm just in a catty, bitchy mood. Sadly, I've been feeling that way more often than I care to admit lately. What's wrong w/ me?!?!?!?
Holy cow, it's only 4 months away!
Ignore Mabel, Ellie. That girl has no idea what she's talking about. I said Achtung was a '90s CD all along! Lookit my original post! *tsk* Can we uninvite her on 10/8? It might be kind of hard since I'll be standing next to her though.
When's Europe? Amsterdam - whee! Drugs galore! (NOT a selling point, honest.)

Nothing's wrong with you, Mabel! Abusing Tiff is one of my favorite past-times...Achtung Baby? The 80s? *snicker* Fool.
That Paul Hewson chap looks an awful lot like Bono, doesn't he?
I did know Achtung's from the '90s. I own it! I own the Best Of '90-'00! I just---it's because---Chinese. Lunar. Calendar. I'm telling you, woman! Does that mean nothing to you? Such racial intolerance! Have you met our friend Raggy Q Suicidal Rocker?
*crawls away...*
She's so mean to me, Ellie.

Okay, there's no 'might' about it. I will be missing the start of college...but sshh, it's a secret.
Ellie, I didn't realize you were going to Europe! Apparantly I'll be sitting here solo in "fantasy trip to Europe-ville." The tears are a-flowin.
Tiff, you best be counting your lucky stars that I sent you your tickets! That kind of talk coulda sent your ticket straight to eBay...Best be nice, I still have a couch that I believe you were planning on utilizing for a night or two.
Looks like someone will be attending Yale...Community College of Phoenix (Announcer's voice: Adjacent to the AM/PM, just off of Exit 44 on Hwy 80) when she returns from Europe!
I know who Paul Houston is, he's Whitney's reverend brother. Who's this Hewson you speak of? Do you mean Norman Jewison, the Canadian film director?
Hey! Don't even think of dragging me into that lot w/ Raggy Rocker, you strumpet!
ETA: Back on topic...Hooray for Vertigo at the Red Sox/Cubs game!!!
before you wonder why i haven't posted for the last 5 minutes, no, I am not dodging ur posts, nor do I think this should be deleted. What I was trying to do was think how to respond without being angry.
I also am contemplating how I am gonna die 2nite. Seriosuly, u guys wanna make me commit suicide. No, don't delete this thread. Go ahead and keep it, go tell mommy and daddy. I don't give a F***
Of course I was confused when I wrote it. Do you think people are all expected to be aware of the Chinese lunar calendar? Of course not! Now, am I saying everything I wrote was mature and correct by western standards? No! Am I saying thats how I feel and that I should be able to feel that way? Yes! Is it Freedom of speech? Yes! Did you guys piss me off? Yes! Do I think how you handled what I wrote was mature? No!
Now, let me go to bed and die in my sleep.
You don't know what my life is like- don't treat me like I'm some kind of ignorant b**** who knows nothing about Bono and life revolving around a Joshua Tree.
My teacher has cancer
My friend's mom is about to die from a brain tumor
School is hard
I have a learning disability that causes me some issues that none of you even should know, except that sometimes i jumble the release dates of U2 CDs and i find things out late, like i didn't know that "achtung" means "attention" until i went to Germany and saw for myself, you should automatically be mature and accepting of anyone hence that other thread chenofan started.
And by the way mabel- I find it highly offensive that u would not let this thread die until everyone's read my post. I wasnt going to delete it in the first place (okay but I did) but that was the most immature thing done!
I hope you all have great lives, cause mines gonna be the best with God and angels.

Oh, Tiff - loathe as I am to praise you - but that is hilarious! Tears-running-down-my-cheek funny!
*snicker*
Oh, god love ya, Tiff!
I can't help it. When a message board gives you lemons, make...idle threats about suicide.
And just so you know, I just took a shower and tried to drown myself, but instead just got some shampoo and foam up my nose. Thanks a lot.
Oh, TiffyTiffTiff. It's ok, dear. By the Chinese Lunar Calendar, I'M still in my 20s and therefore not nearly as big a loser for living at home with my parents George Costanza-style at this stage of my life as when gauged by my turning 31 in nine days. So I'm MORE than willing to accept that explanation for Achtung's being from the '80s. Ahem.
Anyone see the cool profile on Paul McGuinnes in the NYT this morning? It was brief, but a pretty groovy insight into the whole business-sense genius behind the band. (Also discusses the whole every show post-mortem thing that Liam-the-twat was dissing!)
On to more important matters:
What's your favorite U2 album cover? Unforgettable Fire, October (honorable mention for the bad hair), JT, Under a Blood Red Sky/Red rocks.
What's your favorite song from HTDAAB? COBL, SYCMIOYO, ABOY.
What's your favorite song from 1980s? Bad, Streets, Gloria, Running/In God's Country/Trip/OneTree....ok, damnit, the whole freaking album, I will Follow, October, All I want is you, Heartland, The Sweetest Thing. (And Seconds and Van Diemens Land b/c my boyfriend is singing.)
Favorite Cover? Dancin' Barefoot, Everlasting Love, She's a Mystery to me.
What's your favorite song from 1990s? So Cruel, Wild Horses, The Fly, Real Thing, One...
Pineapples - Nay. But I will be willing to accept them on pizza or on my very caloric Pineapple upside-down cake.
hey Tiff, i posted a thread about my reviews of Irish theater (including one with tons of male nudity, again, i thought of you), its on the main board so you can find it there. Interesting tid bit- SallyBrown proclaimed she was going to marry me. just a little after thought. WEll, anywho- my brother was sick for most of the trip so we didnt see much or ireland BUUT it is breathtakingly gorgeous, the people are SO nice and we flew Business First Class so it was a true luxury. How have you been?
aannd we need to plan another NYC get together! cuze i wanna meet all yous
Thank you, Groupie. By the Chinese lunar calendar, the last time I got play was...two days ago. Useful, isn't it?
I can't choose one favourite song from the '80s. They were so in their prime then. Pretty much everything on the Best Of CD, and then some. For example, Zoo Station. (Oh, I gest. I gest. I KNEW it, okay? Dammit!)
I wasn't a fan of the Everlasting Love cover. Maybe just because I'm used to the disco version. Ick.
Now the REAL toughies are what is your favourite U2 album cover/cover/song from '00-'05? *crickets*
And favourite U2 character? I still dig Macphisto. Sexy.
Yep, nothing says sexy like tight gold pants, bedazzled boots, and devil horns...I don't know how Bono makes it work. On paper, that says "Primo way to look like an ass," and yet...Pity it never worked out having Macphisto as a vilain in one of the Batman movies. Was that ever seriously in negotiations, or was it just something that was tossed around more as a joke?
And Tiff, the Chinese lunar calandar is looking better and better. Always nice to be able to tweak dates as necessary!
Haha. I was gone for what? 3 hours and I come back to find tons of amusement! And you talk of letting this thread die! It just gave me the biggest laugh I've had in a while. Tiff, I think that makes up for your atrocious error.
Favorite album cover - Best of 1980-1990. That boy just gets to me.
Favorite HTDAAB song - SYCMIOYO, followed closely by OOTS.
Favorite 80s song - Bad.
Favorire 90s song - This one's tricky, but I'll go with One.
Pineapples - yay or nay? Yay!
Threaten to disown the thread and hilarity ensues...who knew?!?!?
I wonder where Jez is, btw. He was trying for a couple tix last night before he left. I wanted to know if any of them panned out!

Somebody make another mini U2 questionnaire... I'm still bored - do your duty and entertain me, goddamnit!

How about....I don't know...best and worst eras for hair/attire? Superficial, and yet the lads have had a great many ups and downs!
Broadway Legend Joined: 9/20/04
Best - Pop era
Worst - Mullet era
Larry always looks good, though.
Peak Larry was definitely ZooTV though (I think). I think The Joshua Tree was a low point for The Edge...that hair was just AWFUL! I think Adam's looking pretty good right now, and (I've said it before) but I loved Bono's Pop look, despite not typically loving super short/shaved hair.
Broadway Legend Joined: 9/20/04
A shaved head looks good on any man! Adam never really excited me...he's so bland, or something. And to elaborate on my Pop era answer - I loved most of their image from that time, except the Discotheque video. The Village People look does not suit them.
Another question - which I expect all latecomers to attend to upon their return -
What's your favorite U2 video?
