Hmmm...Streets is pretty classic, and I've gotta say All Because of You for sentimental reasons...no, you know what? Scratch that! That video would have been SO much better if they'd done the last verse from Fulton Ferry State Park, under the Bridge. Wouldn't that make sense? Follow them, follow them, follow them...travelling along the route, and where are they going? To the huge crowd that's loyally awaiting their arrival...and it's "all because of US"

I've gotta say, I'm not particularly well versed in the video dept! I think I need to pick up the DVD(s) that have all the music videos on it/them. Elphie, did you ever end up picking that one that had The Ground Beneath Her Feet on it?

Yes, you'll have to get the DVD, Mabs! I got the 90-00 one at Christmas, and it's great. I love The Sweetest Thing too, Elphie. Electrical Storm is another great one!

How do we feel about Electrical Storm in general? Yay or Nay?

I like Electrical Storm...not to ruin things for you Els, but I heard they may be playing it in Europe! Who knows if they really will, but that'd be very cool if they do at some point!

Well, I won't be seeing them in Europe so they could play 'Oops, I Did It Again' and I wouldn't know!

But no setlists for Leg 3 - that's the new policy, right Elphie?

Yup. I'm even trying to avoid Europe setlists. I'm definitely staying away from anything related to leg 3, though. And BTW, I really like Electrical Storm.

I don't really want to hear much about Europe either, but I can't help wondering if they'll throw in some Pop or Zooropa and if they'll stick around for October. Give me a subtle nudge if they do, Mabel!

Random thoughts before I go to bed -

Wouldn't it be great if they did GoldenEye at one of the shows? 'Twould be fab to hear Bono sing that!

You know the way over in Britain the Queen has just named her Birthday Honors, knighting people etc. like Dame Judi Dench...? Well, is that just for Brits, or can anyone in the Commonwealth get an honor? Like Canada, for example. And was I imagining it or did Bill Gates get knighted at some stage?

Could Bono be knighted? Sir Bono...I like it.

Edit - I just thought of Dame Kiri te Kanawa - she's from New Zealand, right? I guess that answers my question. Ireland isn't part of the Commonwealth either, is it...so no Sir Bono.

Well...I guess I should go to bed now. My brain is frazzled.

1. Ellie, I'm not sure what the ins and outs of knightdom, if you will, are...though you're right, Sir Bono does have a charming ring to it!

2. Presale for tickets BLOWS! Amex presales are unnecessary, and frankly, I don't get why they exist other than to allow scalpers free reign on tix! Fanclub presales? Sure. Absolutely. More power to ya? But professional scalpers and ticket brokers can just have multiple Amex cards and buy out an entire event before it even takes place. Case in point: The Rolling Stones at MSG. I just tried for a pair of nosebleeds the second they went on sale. Nothing. Fine. A single nosebleed at 9:02. NOTHING! A single $500 seat (just for kicks and giggles...do we really think your average Joe is going to be scoffing up all those $500 seats? That's a hell of a lot of $$$). Nothing. It's a scam, and dammit, I wanted to see Keith before he kicks the bucket, and have you seen him lately? I don't think it's going to be very long!


ETA: No need to bump this since no one's around at the moment, but I saw this on interference...just to make the line-up for Philly even more depressing (if that's possible):

Sorry about the Stones tickets, Mabel. You seem to be able to track down good bargains from internet sellers, though, so I'd wager that you'll see Keith yet! I don't think he's on his way out, by the way - he'll still be living the party lifestyle when he's 90!

I e-mailed those three sellers/traders you told me about. I've gotten two responses so far...both holding out for a trade.
But they said they'd remember me if things didn't work out for them, so fingers crossed.

Ellie, I think it would be great to hear Goldeneye! But I think it's pretty unlikely, I have to say. And you never know about Bono getting a knighthood - while technically he's not eligible, another Irishman, Bob Geldof (organizer of Live Aid/Eight) got an honorary one and he's commonly referred to as 'Sir Bob' by the media. And no, Ireland is NOT part of the Commonwealth! The Queen has never even set foot on Irish soil.

Awww, Jez, that's a pisser on the tix. There's still a couple of weeks to scrape something up though!

I was kind of bummed about the Stones, but maybe something'll turn up. They're on my "must see before they die" list. I've been reading rumblings about this being their last tour, but they said that 3 years ago too, so I guess you never know! I'd rather see The Who though (well, Pete, Roger and whoever they scrape together for bass and drums)...I'm still kicking myself for passing on the last tour a few years ago.

I have nothing U2-related to contribute, but my little..."cubicle buddy" ran off on a bathroom break, and I just had to say he's freaking hte SH*T out of me! I feel like he's always looming over my shoulder, and yesterday he asked me to go to his sister's wedding w/ him this weekend! *shudder* Oh, I should probably say that this guy (kid/whatever...the other student summer hire at work) has got problems of some kind. *pats self on the back* Way to go, mabs, attracting the mentally ill. *siiiigh* This should teach me! No being nice to the quasi-derranged...they only get clingy! *breaks into Conan's "I'm-A Gonna Go To Hell When I Die"*

Yeah...he's definitely mondo-bizarro. Today he was listening to music on his computer, next to mine. I had my Dell-pod on, so I couldn't really hear it at first, but between tracks, I could pick up on it. I had to put my music on mute to catch the full glory of the harpsichord-infused classical ditty he was listening to. I don't know...he's definitely an odd one. I swear he didn't do anything yesterday. He just stared at his computer screen (that is, when I didn't have that creepy "he's looking over my shoulder!!" sensation)...I can just see him out of the corner of my eye from where I'm sitting). Don't get me wrong. I waste PLENTY of time here, but I'm doing something!!! I'll check on here, or send an email...or my favorite past time: trolling for tix! But he just sat, hour after hour, staring at his computer. *shrug*

Oh, I see (re: das spoiler). I thought you'd have been able to stick it out. You seemed to determined, Ellie! Maybe you'll really be able to hold out for the 3rd leg (good thing MSG's kind of early on in the leg!...I think I'll even try to lay off reading the setlists for the 3rd leg)

And I must say, I demonstrated some serious self-restraint at work. Do you have any idea how hilarious harpsichord-classical music is?!?!?! I had to crank The Who to blast it out and keep myself from totally loosing it!
