Tomorrow, but let's get a head start!

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

I'm such a bad fan... I started watching the first season, but then I moved and stopped having cable. I haven't actually seen it since the finale in the spring. I'm really hoping I can catch up now that it's back (and I have cable again).

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

I'm excited! According to America, they spent the time during the strike re-evaluating the direction the second season had taken, and realized they needed to refocus. SO, we're supposed to be getting back to more of a focus on Betty, and just to have more 'heart' in general.

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

This is what was in EW:

"During the strike, Betty exec producer Silvio Horta and star Ferrera spent hours watching their own show and came to the same realization. 'In the second season we lost a lot of what we loved about Betty,' says Ferrera. As Horta explains it, 'We were getting away from Betty's point of view. The show had become incredibly funny, but it started to lose some of its heart.' As soon as the team returned to work (with new executive producer Joel Fields, who replaced Marco Pennette), Horta wrote the word 'Heart' on a dry-erase board for all the writers to see. 'Whenever we're lost or confused with a story line, we look at that,' he says. Several pre-strike stories were altered or scrapped (including a musical episode) for new plots that will include Betty's love triangle with Henry and Gio (Freddy Rodriguez), a Meade publications softball game (perhaps featuring the athletic stylings of Naomi Campbell), and, of course, the return of Wilhelmina to Mode. Ferrera couldn't be happier about the show's refocusing. 'If anything good came out of the strike, it's that we were able to step back and breathe,' she says. 'We're coming back with our heads on straight.' —Jessica Shaw

Of course I have to do something on THIS Thursday, the one where both of my favorite tv shows come back.

Okay, I DEMAND that 30 Rock be moved up a timeslot! I can't deal with my two favorite shows being on at the same time.

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

Yes it was! I knew that Charlie would be back (I looooved the scene with her and Hilda) and I think that Gio is starting to grow on me.

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

Didn't think it was THAT great. But it was okay. I am starting to dislike Henry, now I kinda want him to leave. I've officially moved to Gio's camp.
Ana Ortiz is fantastic, I too loved her scene with Charlie. I don't like the new haircut at all though.
Oh, and Rebecca Romijn won't be a regular anymore starting Season 3, they are keeping Alexis but as a recurrent character.

No wonder Rebecca is barely on. Sad thing though, because she was great.

I don't know about you guys but I thought that episode was pretty great (or dare I say fierce)!

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

I've decided I want to be Betty's friend, she finds out Henry is really gay, she starts seeing Gio and sets me up with Henry and we all live happily ever after.
About last night's episode, Gabrielle Union was great, too bad she has to go.

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

I thought last night was hysterical, and Becki Newton deserves serious Emmy consideration for that episode. She is a riot, and her physical comedy is great!

I missed last week's episode, but have to admit last night's episode made me laugh. I loved watching Becky Newton with the models.

Such a missed opportunity to have a Christian Siriano/ Justin Suarez walkoff!

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

That's a good point, BroadwayChica. They never even got to meet on that episode. It's strange to see Justin growing by leaps and bounds this season.

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

I really, really wanted them to cross paths. Oh well. The show needs more Justin. Although, yeah, I agree it's a little awkward seeing how much he's grown. Eh, whatever, puberty does that.

Oh my... that would have been amazing! Both Ana O. and Becki N. have been really great lately!

I noticed that Daniel Davis has managed to find work after getting canned from La Cage.

Obviously, with the long hair and the beard, he hasn't been doing a whole lot.

Does anyone else listen to the Ugly Betty podcast? You can get it off of itunes and it's amazing! Michael Uri and Becky N. host and are just too funny.

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

In a cost-cutting maneuver, the hit ABC comedy, which largely takes place in Manhattan and features a Queens-bred heroine, is packing up its L.A. shop and actually moving production to New York, E! News has confirmed.

(link below)

It's ironic, since I think originally it was a cost-cutting move to shoot the pilot in NY then do the series in LA (at least according to Vanessa's E! True Hollywood Story).

It also mentions the Lindsay Lohan season finale appearance. I'm not sure I'm happy that Lindsay is supposed to do five or so eps next season. I'd rather have Rebecca full-time.

re: UGLY BETTY IS BACK!

OH MY GOD! That's great news. I love it. I thought the show had a much nicer feel when the pilot was done in NYC. I hope this means Pat Fields is back as costume designer and that more NY actors will be featured. LuPone has to be back!
