Is our government's response to the hurricane so slow and were the plans to help those unable to evacuate seeminly nonexistent because so many of those whose lives have been devastated are people of COLOR? Other countries have offered help--It is time to take help from OTHER COUNTRIES NOW. Every second, living people and other creatures are dying. UNTIL every roof and every door in every building in the Gulf Coast is opened, there are still chances to save lives. I have made contributions to www.redcross.org, www.noahswish.org(animal rescue) and to www.salvationarmy.org----I urge all to do the same. HOUSING? If YOU have space where you live and are willing to welcome Katrina Victims into your home; kindly post your offer at www.cnewmark.com -- If you are able to care for displaced pets; kindly also post your offer on www.cnewmark.com ----- ALSO, if you belong to any organized group, religious or others (churches, synagogues, local community groups)--PLEASE try to ORGANIZE AND LEAD your church, synagogue or group to 'Adopt A Family of Hurricane Victims.' It starts with just ONE person standing up and saying "Let's Do This." Then, REGISTER what your group is doing with your local area Red Cross by going to www.redcross.org -----The Red Cross is compiling lists of displaced lives needing shelter for at least several months. This crisis has only just begun. PLEASE, muster whatever energy, courage and resources you have to help America recover from the worst natural disaster in our country's history. Please.
Look who's back.

Double that and the avatar is HAWT.
Now, on topic... I have no pity for people who ignored the warnings and chose to stay in a city under sea level. It's their own damn fault.

Even people who had no money, personal transportation, and were too physically infirm to leave? In other words, the ones who had no way out? I'm just trying to understand how you decide to parcel out your pity, because your pity is something that is of very real value to the victims of this natural tragedy followed immediately by man-made tragedy. Thanking you in advance for your clarification.

I really thought I couldn't be made to feel any sicker about this entire situation, and specifically some of the thoughts expressed by uninformed, unaware and ignorant people on this site.
I was wrong.

I don't have a car. I don't have any money. But, I know if Los Gatos were to flood I'd be on the first bus outta here because I have nice neighbors.
There's ways to leave. All they had to do is do something besides sit on their asses.
And the "too phsyical infirm" as you call it.. I have more pity on them than a stupid person. I'm sorry that a sick person lost their lives in this natural tragedy
My grandmother is 93. She would've gotten in her car and drove her ass to the bus depot and got herself outta there. Just because you're old and crippled doesn't mean its a death warrant.
Sorry for sounding like I don't care. I'm just sick of hearing about it. Same thing with 9/11 and the tsunami. People die. Life isn't fair. I'm sorry if I'm smart and somebody else is dumb.
(Ignorant white boy? HERE!)

No one was physically attached to wall. Everyone had equal oppertunity to leave when they were told to. It's their choice they stayed and they're suffering the consequences for their actions.

"Everyone had equal oppertunity to leave"
I believe this is the type of thing I referenced in the description 'uninformed, unaware and ignorant'.
I'm going to assume that these statements are only being made to provoke, because it really is beyond my capacity to think that any rational, sane individual could have these thoughts, much less express them in public.

All I know is that warnings went out and everyone was told to evacuate. People decided to ignore the warnings and it's their own fault they're stuck in a muddy mess, without electricty, food or water.
That's all I'm saying.
"I'm sorry if I'm smart and somebody else is dumb."
Your opinion only. You are as stupid as they come. Not to mention ignorant, clueless, heartless.......

"All I know is that warnings went out and everyone was told to evacuate."
Telling people to evacuate is very different than helping people evacuate. You stupid, ignorant, selfish, narcissitic and most importantly entitled DUMB F*CK.
You seem to hardly even have the capacity to grasp the situation as it is now.
All I am saying is if you have some valid things to say about the situation say them, if your statements are based on your own ignorance and inability to process information then feel free to say them. Just don't be surprised when people with any intellegence at all rip you to shreds.
Something like 40% of the people in NO rely on the public transportation system.
WOW.
You know maybe some people DID ignore the warnings. Then again, maybe some tried to get on the first bus outta there, but since everyone else was trying to do the same, they couldn't.
By the way, i'ts oppOrtunity. Right THERE you're not "smart and everyone else is dumb." Go back to school.
If you have a place folks can stay...............list it at www.cnewmark.com and find the HOUSING OFFER Link on the left hand side, scrolling down. Thank you good people!!!!

And so you have bought the opportunity to be an idiot. An American Idiot, to borrow Green Day's term.
I don't think anyone has to spell out to anybody else what they have done, are doing, or are going to do to help out in this tragedy. But frankly, given what a pathological liar you have show yourself to be since you joined this board (Mercedes Benz bought with trust fund money, car reposessed because sugar daddy had enough of you and there wasn't a trust fund, burned spaghetti, want to go to cooking school, need FIFTY grand and a free place to stay in San Francisco) I don't believe you even HAVE any money to donate.
Now I understand the Amish practice of shunning members of a community.
People were told the safe place to go would be the Community Center and the Superdome, these people followed the directions and got off their asses only to be in a putrid situation for days once there.
"People DIE" and when people die because of human ingnorance it is our responsibility to discuss it undderstand it and insure it does not happen again. Simply thrtowing money at a problem and blaming the victims is not a solution.
I'm not crying, I am screaming with anger!

That proves we have served some purpose here, that $10 will actually do something to help someone, too bad you are such a heartless bastard you would not have done it of your own accord.
