I highly doubt it, since it is supposed to be a remake of the original. I still don't know much about the original, but became interested after reading this thread.

The original tv movie from 1983 just started on Syfy, for those who are interested.

I'll give it a chance. Did anyone else find the camera work in the first few minutes to be a bit headache inducing?

I'm just worried that it won't be as funny as the original.

Well the original was 10.5 hours long. ANYTHING can be funny after you sit through it for 10.5 hours...

The thing is, I've only seen bits and pieces on Sunday and today. So I'm basing my opinion on that.

I only got to see the middle 30 minutes, but I think I liked it. I like the differences. The genetically modified skin makes a lot more sense. The super strength is cool. I like that they have been living among humans for years. The visitors are a lot creepier and that Anna chick is like the joker. She has perma-smile. I will have a better idea when I watch the whole thing tomorrow.

And the original wasn't funny originally. It was serious business. It was just funny in retrospect.

I don't like those bullet balls that the Vs have.

Anna is very creepy. Like she is a robot.

Nothing beats the original Lizard Baby. It's going to be pretty damn hard to beat that...

Yeah, I agree that she was really creepy. The whole premise of the show is weird.

I thought it was fantastic. It did seemed a little rushed at first but I thought the second half was incredilble.

I love the premise that they have lived among us for years.

Yeah, by the time we got to the sleeper cell meeting I was pretty much hooked.

I got pretty much everything I wanted out of a first episode.

I'm sucked in too ... for now. They did pick super creepy looking aliens. Creepy in a "you're pretty but look fake and you're up to something" way. Can't wait for next week.

"Rushed" is a gross understatement. It appears designed for individuals with the attention span of a 3-year old. And the writing is dreadful! Not to mention the tasteless JFK assassination and 9/11 tie-ins. Flash Forward is leagues above this drek.

I didn't find anything tasteless about the mention of JFK or 9/11, but to each his pearl-clutching own.

I will also agree that it wasn't in poor taste to mention those events. I think they just used those as examples because those are two of the most remembered tragic events for most Americans today. While the aliens may not be tragic, it still is a major event, especially since their ship was seen all over the world.

I took it was just trying to contextualize the profundity of the event.

If Luscious was in a snit about the one line referring to JFK, I can only imagine the conniption he'd have had if he watched Sunday's Mad Men.
