Since (I'm, Jewish), I'll say what's not been said yet: Hooray for the skinny nebbish jewish guy who's just tryin' to get off ! Power to the nerds! I happen to like his congressional "outbursts".
What's the big ****ing deal? It's just sex talk. I think there's some jealousy out there, no?? Oooh, the fake "moral" outrage from every talking head from here to eternity. As long as he's a good legislator,. I, for one can certainly separate wprk life/personal life. (Bring it on, naysayers). I still say "set up." The first of many dirty political "outings" in the next 1.5 yrs.

Are you kidding? I'm hard right now. And I STILL have an hour and a half before I can take care of that at the gym.
Here's what Glenn Greenwald has to say. And I agree completely!

Now, now, Robbie: The gym is for making your muscles hard.
That's a great Glenn Greenwald article. I love this part:
This is just pure mucking around in the private, consensual, unquestionably legal private sexual affairs of someone for partisan gain, voyeuristic fun and the soothing fulfillment of judgmental condemnation. And in that regard, it sets a new standard: the private sexual activities of public figures -- down to the most intimate details -- are now inherently newsworthy, without the need for any pretense of other relevance.
Awwwww...and now his wife is pregnant!

Posted: 6/13/11 at 9:26amThe hypocrisy of the Dems is remarkable. Where was their outrage for Charlie Rangel? His transgressions were far worse than Weiner's, but they were practically silent on the matter. The bottom line is that Weiner has no allies on Capitol Hill; he's viewed as a showboat who's more concerned about making a splash on cable news than he is about getting things done, and he's made no secret of his long-term goal to be mayor of NYC. In fact, the Dems weren't even this vocal about their outrage over GOP sex scandals like Ensign and Vitter.

all of those things about weiner are true, mb, but the problem that dems see is that this is out there 24/7. there's no agenda being covered. they are not able to do anything but talk about weiner's weiner.
the fury that's being displayed now is them being pissed that he could f*** things up as badly as he did. sure it's not a crime, but for the party, it's worse: their prize attack dog has lost all credibility and now everybody's talking about his c***.
i pray he refuses to resign and that they go balls to the wall and try to expel him from the house...and that it takes months and months and months.

What Papa and MB said.
At this point, the hypocrisy being displayed is almost making him a wee (and I do say wee) bit sympathetic.
Bad timing Anthony, really bad judgment, and never, ever lie to a woman's face about your junk.

I'm certain Rangel had the Congressional Black Caucus on his side, but he knows he never has to leave office. His constituent base has ignored any traction of younger primary challengers in recent years.
Honestly, Weiner's whole bleeding heart, get on a soapbox and use social media has only been recent in terms of his political career. He started this when he was still considering a run for Mayor for real last election cycle (running for Mayor in New York does require a national profile).
Before that he was just considered a Schumer clone who was upwardly moving along politically (with Mayor becoming the primary goal) but since he was quite young entering Congress, he sort of coasted. He was not exactly Alan Grayson, another firebrand who was pretty cavalier and independent of the party talking points and did not really care how the party reacted. I am sure Weiner still cared or pretended to care about what Schumer thought, certainly he learned from the master of the face-time on political talkshows.
His positions on current hot-button issues are nice and makes for a good soundbite but he really has no record of sponsoring legislation and had no real power in any Congressional Committee even when Dems had control of the House. The reason for why Dems are so easy on calling for his resignation is that he is very dispensable considering his power in the House is pretty unremarkable. In the case of Rangel, you had a long-time influential African-American Democrat in a powerful committee position with major backing from his peers. Weiner's now persona non grata.

Obama claimed to be a "fierce advocate" for gay people, not for heterosexual narcissists.
Weiner is a Democrat. Democratic narcissists get in trouble with girls.

Since when did Jim McGreevy become a Republican? I know that he's trying to become an Episcopal priest, but that doesn't automatically make a person a Republican.

Mark Foley
Ted Haggard
Larry Craig
Bob Allen
Glen Murphy jr.
James West
Bob Bauman
Jon Hinson
These are just a few of the Republicans that come to mind. I'm sure I am forgetting some though. All Republicans caught in some sort of Gay sex scandal and all hypocrites who I am sure Goth will defend while condemning Anthony Wiener. Pal Joey had it right Goth.
