Well...I'm unclear as to the law broken here (I read the article you posted and it has done nothing to clear that point up). And I don't think sending sexy pics of yourself (even of the x-rated variety) should discount anyone from office. Cause in about 20 years, there will be NO ONE left who can run for office.
As for the lying about it, I agree. Too f-ing stupid for words. The response should have been 'Yes. And?'

"Barney Frank - male prostitution out of basement, liar"
What did he lie about? He didn't pay you as much as he said he would?

More than anything else, I'm just disappointed because I really liked him. I could care less about what he did - I'm a firm (sorry for the pun) believer that NOBODY'S sex life is anyone else's business but their own (and their spouse's) unless it violates a law (ie pedophelia).
Otherwise, I could care less.
I'm just disappointed because he should have known better because we know that Goth's reaction is minor compared to what the bigwigs are going to make of it.

Well, I only went back five years, but there pages of this stuff. All these are folks claiming to be "conservative" and upholding family values:
In Wisconsin, Republican state Senator Randy Hopper, while claiming to still live with his wife, was actually living outside the district he represents with a much younger 25-year-old mistress. In early 2011, the mistress was hired by a conservative lobbyist firm and given a state employee's job at rate of pay much higher than the previous person doing the job
NRCC (National Republican Congressional Committee) uses a strip club named Forty Deuce in Las Vegas for fundraiser gatherings with Pete Sessions in attendance. He claims there was no nudity involved.[4][5][6] In Feb. 2009, Tao, another Las Vegas club of questionable family values and clothing requirements, was used.
RNC uses party funds to pay rich, young Republican donors to attend a Hollywood night club specializing in lesbians, bondage, and S&M.Washington Post March 30, 2010[7] Michael Steele appears to have authorized it at least indirectly as part of his "off the hook" PR campaign. A Young Republican who knew Steele personally named Erik Brown was involved.
Roy Ashburn, the conservative Republican California state senator, who was arrested in March of 2010 for drunk driving after reportedly leaving a gay bar, has acknowledged that he is gay. Ashburn, a divorced father of four, has repeatedly voted in opposition to gay rights, and in 2005 hosted a rally in favor of "traditional marriage." He has voted against expanding anti-discrimination laws to include sexual orientation, recognizing out-of-state gay marriages and establishing a day honoring gay lawmaker Harvey Milk
Mike Duvall, a Republican politician and a former member of the California State Assembly, resigned after his sex comments were broadcast in Sept. 2009. In the video, the married family-values crusader from Yorba Linda talks in graphic detail about women he said he slept with -- at least one of whom appeared to be a lobbyist with business before the utilities committee on which Duvall sat as vice chairman.
Paul Stanley, Republican former member of the Tennessee Sen., resigned from the state Senate effective Aug. 10, after his affair with a 22-year-old intern and a subsequent extortion attempt was revealed to the public
Mark Sanford, governor of South Carolina, disappears during Father's Day weekend, returning to confess an extramarital affair in Argentina.
John Ensign, Senator from Nevada, refuses to resign after confessing to an extramarital affair with a married staffer, claiming she was trying to extort him. Later, it was learned he was attempting to pay her and her husband off through his parents and finding them jobs
Alan David Berlin, He is an aide for Senator Jane Orie of Pennsylvania. He is also a furry who contacted a fifteen year old boy over the internet, and offered to "yiff" the boy in a panda outfit, while his parents weren't home. The parents discovered the graphic emails on the boy's computer and called the attorney general's child predator unit sometime in May. Police raided his home and discovered various furry outfits such as a wolf costume, as well as a cat outfit; all complete with two holes cut out at the undersides of the costumes. He is now arraigned in Dauphin County jail on a $250,000 bail.
Michael Duvall, California state Representative in September 2009:
"Graphic sex-bragging caught on tape".
Then lies and denies it and blames media.
Finally apologizes and resigns.
Matthew Joseph Elliott, former aide to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, was convicted of sexual exploitation of a child
Vito Fossella, the only Republican member of Congress from New York City, admitted to police to having a child out-of-wedlock when stopped for drunk driving
Robert McKee, Republican delegate from Western Maryland, announced his resignation after authorities seized two computers, videotapes and printed materials from his Hagerstown home in a child pornography investigation. McKee also resigned his position as executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County.
Derek Walker, former Eagle Scout and candidate seeking the GOP nomination in a race for north-central Pennsylvania district, was charged with felony burglary and criminal trespass stemming from an encounter last year with an ex-girlfriend, during which he allegedly broke into her home and used his cell phone to videotape her engaged in an intimate moment with another man.
Robert "Bob" Allen, Florida state Rep. arrested in the afternoon at a Veteran's Memorial Park for solicitation of prostitution from an undercover male officer inside a restroom. According to the papers, Bob "offer[ed] to perform oral sex for $20". Bob later claimed that his offer had something to do with his being afraid of black people
John David Roy Atchison, Republican prosecutor, was arrested for soliciting sex from a 5-year old girl, then killed himself three weeks later. At the time of his arrest, Atchison was an "assistant U.S. attorney" appointed by President Bush's attorney general.
John Bryan, Republican city councilman, killed himself after police began investigating allegations that he had molested three girls, including two of his adopted daughters, ages 12 and 15.
Larry Craig, no description needed.
Richard Curtis, Washington State Rep., resigned from the House after reports of his sexual encounter with a male escort became public. Curtis has an anti-gay rights voting record. He voted against domestic partnerships for gays and opposed a bill prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation
Larry Dale Floyd, Republican Constable in Denton County, Texas Precinct Two. Arrested for allegedly crossing state lines to have sex with an 8-year old child and was charged with 7 related offenses. Age 62 at time of arrest.
Ted Klaudt, former South Dakota State Rep., found guilty of four counts of second-degree rape of two teenage foster daughters.
David Vitter, junior Senator from Louisiana, became one of the few high-profile politicians to be implicated as a client of "D.C. Madam"
Fun site...

"Especially if you have to list Republican liars."
Sorry Reg, I wasn't clear. I did mean Republicans.
What upsets me is that it looks like there are pictures of his family in the background of the picture.

I'm less judgmental about the "sin" that Weiner confessed to this afternoon, of sexting his junk or his chest shots to six women over three years. If you're as old as Weiner (46) and have never done something naughty but still legal, you're probably immune to the power of human desire, have no sense of fantasy, and have been living in a locked veal cage in a convent basement. You don't have to be a libertine to not care about a politician's kinks, as long as those kinks don't get in the way of his job.

this is easy.
obviously scumbags abound in political circles and one could play that game all day.
however only one group of scumbags dares to legislate our morality.

i missed all of this live - some of us work for a living, you bon bon eating oprah-philes!
thanks to ywiw for alerting me to it via her own facebook mea culpa in which she got down on her knees and...oh wait, no, that was one of @repweiner's hotties.
10 days of lying, stonewalling and lashing out at everyone. 10 days of feeding the conspiracy-mongers in the cesspools at dailykos and the rest of the fever swamp. 10 days of righteous indignation. oh, tony.
the part that no one's talking about and the part that stood out for me in this whole frenzy was his line that "as far as he knows" the girls he was sending li'l anthony to were all of age. given the last 10 days? one or more of them is almost assuredly underage, he knows it and that is the one part he won't survive, even if he does survive the whole using his office phone for phone sex and probably using his official email for sending out li'l anthony shots.
his problem is that his sole role has been as an attack dog and media whore for the left. his schtick was to get out there, be loud and attack the right. he doesn't have the longest legislational track record in the house. so now, everytime he gets out there it starts another round of weiner jokes. add to that the investigation by the house ethics committee which i am sure the gop is going to want over as soon as possible. *snort* so does he survive? i think that's more up to his colleagues.
i know i would be prepping some fun ads using all of this if i were the gop.

Posted: 6/7/11 at 9:06amIt looks like he's violated no laws, unless one or more of the recipients were underage. So, it's up to his wife as to whether or not she wants to stay with him, and up to his constituents as to whether or not they want him to represent them in the next election. Voters can be fickle. Vitter got re-elected to the senate after worse than this, so you never know. Personally, I couldn't vote for the guy after this, even though I agree with him on most policy issues. Don't are about his personal like, or what he texts to whom. But he handled the last ten days about as poorly as he could, and that's where he'd lose my vote.

Posted: 6/7/11 at 9:19amlaws no, barring one of the girls being underage, but house ethics rules? oh, right, rangel rules. yeah, nevermind. but never underestimate the motivation of democrats who fear him becoming a weight around their necks in 2012.

I would say there is a good chance that his district is one of the two lost when NY has to redistrict and give up 2 congressional seats.
If he had just admitted it and dealt with the issue ... but stonewalling and lying for over a week, and letting people defend him when he knew the allegations are true - that bugs me far more than the actual conduct. Stupid and arrogant.

Looks like Weiner may have offered the use of his staff. Not looking good. He should resign now before this gets more embarrassing for him. Didn't Democrats learn anything from John Edwards?

i pray, pray, he does not resign. i hope he fights the ethics investigation and that it drags out. i hope he has lots of opportunities to publicly address this issue over the next 17 months. just as i can't wait to see journalists and bloggers who rushed to defend him - and accuse those who exposed him of everything under the sun - rightly have their integrity questioned repeatedly whenever they speak.
i freakin' love this.
resign? are you kidding? oh, tony, stay and fight, baby. fight like the junkyard dawg ya been.
