Sueleen, you have a penchant for disturbing avatars. Would you say that you, too, are disturbed?

Are we talking the very BEST movie or our personal favorite? If we are talking best I'm going to say Silence of the Lambs. I love this movie but I wouldn't go as far as to call it my favorite.

Suddenly Seymour, Pulp Fiction and L.A. Confidential are two of my all time favorites. I can't get enough out of either of them.

Ha!

Muriel's Wedding is the story of my local council, and it's mainly true. My mother was friends with the Mayor's wife, my Grandfather with the bastard Mayor.

All of the footage is from my area, and I actually regularly shop where the Mayor's Wife is caught shoplifting...

If I remember correctly, the mother committed suicide after the film's release...

Why is Forrest Gump a hateful film?

Matt - Porpoise Spit is a fictional name, but the story and location are real...

So in a way, yeah I'm from Porpoise Spit...

Was Magnolia in the 90's?? Not a huge fan, but I enjoyed it when I saw it.

And FORREST GUMP is a sexist, racist, conservative treatise disguised as a feel good slice of Americana.

And I did LOVE Beauty and the Beast. Still do.

re: What is the best movie of the 90's?

I don't see what could be "hateful" about Forest Gump. It's a very, very good movie (not quite a great movie) with a wonderful performance by Tom Hanks. I could see what MIGHT be considered racist (Bubba, I guess), but what could possibly be considered sexist? If you can name it, I'll listen, I'm actually fairly interested by your opinion.

But the best is Pulp Fiction, provided you watch the whole film - otherwise it's horrible.

I did watch all of Pulp Fiction. What made the ending unhorrible?

Y Tu Mama Tambien is 2002 or 2003. Certainly not in the 90's.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

re: What is the best movie of the 90's?

I'm probably one of two people on this board who really loves both AS GOOD AS IT GETS and TITANIC -- which competed for the Best Picture Oscar in 1998. If I had to choose between the two for my best of the '90s, I'd go with Titanic.

No, you're not. I love everything about that movie. Not a fan of "Titanic", though. For me, the BP award was between "L.A. Confidential", "Good Will Hunting", and "As Good...".

Speaking of Y Tu Mama Tambien, has anyone seen La Mala Educacion (Bad Education) by the same director? I've heard it's fantastic.
