Posted: 9/1/09 at 1:59pmShe is taping it for tomorrow? I thought it was going to be live tomorrow morning. GMA is making it seem that way.

Posted: 9/1/09 at 2:21pmIt's a filmed LIVE performance?... eh? I wonder how she was. I have a friend who went.

Posted: 9/1/09 at 2:23pmI was never really a fan of her music, but there was no denying her natural talent--and she was a joy to watch when she was younger. Getting together with Bobby Brown was the biggest mistake she ever made. Her voice will never recover from the drug abuse.

Posted: 9/1/09 at 2:50pmA friend of mine went and said her voice was rough. I could tell she had lost it when I heard her first song from her new CD. Its so sad.
re: Whitney Houston in Central Park#10
Posted: 9/1/09 at 6:36pmThey just reported on our local news that the taping today for airing tomorrow didn't go to well. They didn't say anything else because it was reported on the local NBC station.

The Diva is back. No denying it.
And she's "lost" nothing.
The voice ain't ALL of what it once was, but the stories she can now tell since she has lived them are priceless and worth a little weathering since she has come through the storm.

Posted: 9/1/09 at 6:48pmI am wondering if they taped her performance today so that they can add pre-recorded vocals.

The Diva is NOT back...
"And she's "lost" nothing."
Then why does EVERY review mention that her voice wasn't what it was?
She screwed it up and will never be as good as she once was.
It's a sad fact, but it's true.
Sort of like Liza...

...But I would pay to see Liza before Whitney, anyday!
I listened to Whitney's CD on her website last week (She was streaming the entire thing) and among the lyrics referring to her past and her present she says that this is not a comeback because she never went anywhere....
I know someone has a comment about that...

The reviews of her CD have been very kind; but all of Clive Davis's money cannot hide the fact that her voice is gone and that this CD was a misguided attempt to get her back on pop radio.
I have never been a fan of hers because most of her songs are pop junk; I wish she had the guts to do an album of "real" songs: Bacharach and David, show tunes, jazz, gospel, etc. I think her only show tune on album was "I Know Him So Well," sung with her mother.
The new CD will prob debut at number 1 just out of curiosity sake but then slide down the chart as listeners realize how she smoked, drank, shot up, or whatever, away her voice.
Of course she could really go for broke and come out of the closet. :)

I just saw some of her singing on GMA. If anyone considers that she still has a voice, they're kidding themselves. She could barely speak, let alone sing.
They sure are making a big deal of her "comeback", though. Oprah's season opener will be 2 days of it.

Oh, I think her voice has taken more than a little weathering. It's shot to freaking hell. I wish Whitney Houston the best, but I wouldn't count on a huge comeback.

I was surprised at the shape her voice was in on the aired concert this a.m. I'd been listening to the album, and while clearly the voice is damaged it was still recognizable.
I actually like a lot of the album, and I certainly wish her well. She's not the first person to screw up her life and try to put it back together, and I hope it works.
But I think her days of performing live are over.
re: Whitney Houston in Central Park#24
Posted: 9/2/09 at 9:28amHow is it a comeback other than she came back to a public stage. She can't sing, and she can tell whatever stories she wants to. I don't see what there is to cause all the hoopla.
