You can see a moon? We've got nothing but fog out here!

I have the day off tomorrow since I ended up working this weekend with all the out of town guests. I hope that the weather improves, though I don't think it's supposed to be sunny til Wed and Thursday.

I think I'm going to come into the city next weekend, I need a Wicked/ASU fix. And for the weekend of the picnic, I will be at the yankees game, so I won't be able to get to central park til about 4:45, maybe some of you will still be around? Addy, when is the new ladies night?

I'd chat more but I'm on stupid dial up now and it's too slow!

favorite is sesame ginger stir fried green beans.

Beautiful moon here tonight. Totally clear sky. That's what I love about Seattle... warm days turn into nice, cool evenings. I'm gonna miss the weather when I move back east.

It's really good... and low fat! (from my low fat/low cal cookbook)

Peas are not my fave either, but I'll eat them. Now olives... yuck!

Greek olives are good...

I'll eat peas if they're fresh. But I try not to...

In my world, olives are bad, bad, bad. And one can't even pick them out of food because their taste gets permeated in everything they touch. Yeah... I really hate olives. Love olive oil, though.

Funny how that works.

I dislike capers... though I know lots of dishes that use them for flavoring. I guess they're like little mini more disgusting peas...

here ya go, brd...

use haricot verts for this...

pick through the haricots, pulling off the stems. do not cut the ends.

cook the haricots al dente then plunge into ice cold water to stop the cooking set in refrigerator to chill.

make a vinaigrette using only lemon juice, virgin olive oil, salt and pepper.

chop some fresh dill and set aside.

when ready to assemble, mix the chopped fresh dill into the vinaigrette then toss the cold haricots in the vinaigrette.

delicious!

[note: cutting the ends of the haricots will cause them to brown when refrigerated resulting in unappetizing looking haricots]

and what exactly are haricots? Sounds like something served at Hogwarts.

and yet, capers are more like olives, than anything... :)

haricots are French string beans... thinner and more delicate...

haircot verts are the thin French (green) beans.

I can actually tolerete capers... I take them out, but their overall flavor doesn't sicken me.

Thanks José... I learn something new every day, and that was my lesson for the day.

I used to dislike capers as a child, now I like them.

here's an easy pasta sauce...

open a can of tuna packed in olive oil.

heat some virgin olive oil in a pan, and place the tuna, and the oil in the can, into the heating olive oil.

sauté the tuna, braking up the clumps of fish.

a some pureed or chopped tomatoes. cook down for about 10 mintues.

slice some pitted olive into rounds. toss these into the sauce.

add some capers.

serve this sauce over small seashell pasta, or fusilli (the short twists). these types of pasta allow the sauce and bits of tuna to hide themselves in the pasta.

mmmmmmmmmmm delicious (if one likes tuna, olives & capers)

Good Morning Mojitians...

I never met so many people so into their green beans... (for the record, put me in the anti-olive category and with the pro-caper group!)

Nothing like a little light repast to start the hot day...

Have a cool day!

Good morning all.

Jose - thanks for the recipes. KMF was our recipe master.

OTA - if your camp today involves going to the movies with your friends, how can you announce that you "hate camp"???? A certain 11 year old stayed up too late and quite crappy.

Peas are loaded with sugar and I choose other vegs. I love olives and capers. I hate brocolli, but eat it. I also hate brussel sprouts which my wife loves.
