Aww, I'm sorry I'm lonely and bitter. But to make up for it, I'll just say that you gays sure are a cute bunch! And I'll mention, in apology for thread-jacking, that every time I'm down, I call one of my delightfully gay little friends from home and listen to him tell me all about what was wrong with what I wore today.
Not even joking the tiniest bit. *runs off to huggle Cody*

All that you said is true ME
Except my gay friend has never stolen my BF...we're only 14, and I don't know many other 14 year old gay guys. Otherwise I would so pair up Danny with someone for him. But NO no one wants to admit it. but danny is a patient boy.

here's my sincere response to why i love my gay friends:
if they pay me a compliment, i know they're not trying to get in my pants
we can sleep together (as in seriously catch some z's)without any expectations
i just love them :)
here's my not-so-sincere response
honest opinions about clothing and guys
they'll sing with me in the car and not be ashamed if i randomly break into song on the street
we can spend 3 hours together in the gap (yeah, i'm a little ashamed of that one)
my parents don't freak out about me staying at their houses
they'll grab my ass, and not mean anything by it
hahaha, people call us "wife and wife"

Am I the only person offended by this thread? As a heterosexual male, I find this thread idiotic and pointless. I HATE it when I hear girls saying "oh I loooove gay guys! They are sooo hot and looove shopping!" I happen to know that gay men are human beings, and as human beings, they ALL act differently. Not all gay guys LOVE to shop and are adorable and bubbly. I also find it odd that you gay men are not offended by this.
The only way to truly find acceptance and love for ALL mankind in the world is to not group people together and act like everyone is the same.

Well I'm happy for any gay love!!!
I'm sorry, but most heterosexuals get it easy comparatively, and I am happy for anyone to say the love me, not hate me, in regards to my sexual orientation.
And I am yet to find a gay man who doesn't like to shop...it's part of the genes!

Angel - I think maybe you're taking this all a little too seriously. And that's from a gay man who is anything but adorable, and really doesn't identify with much of what is being pronounced here (case in point - ahem, paradox - I am not drawn to shopping at all. Shopping to me is when you know what you want and you go out and get it - and when you get it, you're done!)
There is certainly something to be said for the relationships between straight women and gay men - as a matter of fact, all of my really close friendships are with women. Will and Grace exists for a reason. But really, so what? It's obvious to even the most casual of observers that even though we're all men, there is a distinction between predominantly straight or gay men.
Of course, generalizations are limiting, but the fact is - and political correctness be damned - there are recognizable traits associated with sexual preference. So be it.

Point well taken, DGrant. Do you mind if I put you in a museum or something...I LOVE PEOPLE THAT DON'T CONFROM TO THE NORM!!!
HOORAY!!!
I agree on the staight female/gay male situation completely. Most of my close friends are women. However I have at least one straight friend that is one of my true friends, and he is always there for me, whether it is listening to me sob about heartbreak or gripe about fashion sense.
I just don't find this thread offensive at all...I think it is wonderful, and even better, it fosters a tolerance of homosexuality with the younger board members. There are many that are just coming to terms with sexuality, and surely it would be encouraging to see "WHY ARE GAYS SO FREAKING ADORABLE", showing they are accepted, rather than "CONSERVATIVES HATE HOMOSEXUALITY" or "DIE YOU SODOMITES!".
I for one think any gay love, or tolerance, is needed, on this board and throughout the world.

Paradox - I don't find the thread offensive at all. I don't necessarily agree with it, that's all. I don't happen to like gay men. I find them superficial, limited by their sexuality and perceived slight by society - and generally out of touch with anything that truly matters in the long run. I think they can be a lot of fun if you have time to kill and have very little interest in what happens from it - but most of the ones I've interacted with wouldn't have the time of day for something that didn't have immediate gratification or would somehow reflect on them.
And don't get me started on straight men.
Basically, as I've said in another thread earlier, I think women are the reason and the point. Men are physically capable defenders who are designed to focus on spewing sperm hither and yon. And from what I've seen, that's pretty much what reality boils down to for them - gay or straight.
And yes, I know I know that's a horrible thing to say when so many men are here drawn by a site ostensibly geared around the performing arts. But LOOK at the conversations, and see how often and in how short a period of time it all boils down to something superficial. And the adults are the worst of all.
I'm all for acceptance between fellow human beings, but I'm not going to ignore what's obvious just to pretend to some 'enlightened' position about the sexes. The cliche 'men are pigs' exists for a reason.

DGrant, I have to respectfully disagree. As a straight woman, I find many of my gay friends (as stated on this thread, I have an inability to bond with a straight man) to be incredibly deep, thoughtful, kind and charming people who are nothing but pleasant and wonderful to be around. They make me feel better about myself than anyone else I know. And of course I know straight men who are considerate, and I know gay men who are pigs, but on the whole these have been my experiences with people I know.
Just had to put in my two cents.

and that is why I love you Lael...
And Dgrant I do agree somewhat. I find many gay men overbearing, vain and self-centred. But that doesn't mean we need to send out a negative image to all these young posters. Bush and his cronies are doing that well enough.
That is what I like about this thread. List all the positives...keep away from the negatives. Let's all be positive for a while!!!

"I don't happen to like gay men"
Head for the hills. If you didnt realize most the males here are gay.
And I agree that not all gay men are the steriotypical flaming "lets go shopping!" I am gay and I hate shopping.

Posted: 12/22/04 at 3:22pmSaying that you don't like gay men is like saying you do not like black people, or any group of people with the same sexual orientation or race. It's a little extreme to say but it is the same thing. Posting a thread about how gay men love shopping and are all so sensitive may seem positive but it really is not. What would happen if I posted everything that I loved about African-American people? Ex-"They all talk sooo funny and make the best fried chicken ever!" I have a feeling it would be a different situation then. Maybe I am taking this too seriously, but as a heterosexual male who loves all mankind and hates any sort of discrimination or stereotypes, I was offended.
