From what I've seen today, everyone on CNN and MSNBC was discussing the points of the speech. They mention Wilson in a follow-up question, but he's not distracting from the serious health care debate as much as Rush Limbaugh et. al. would probably like him too.

Weirdly enough, some pinched faced blonde robot lady was on CNN tonight claiming that it's the Democrats in bed with the health care industry. These people could claim poop was tasty and tomorrow half of america would be making poop milkshakes.

To be fair, there are plenty of legislators on BOTH sides of the aisle who take tons of money from the healthcare industry. In fact, almost every senator from a small state falls into that category. If you look at some of the 'conservative' Dem senators who are a 'No' vote (or iffy) on a public option, and you'll see they all get a significant percentage of their campaign contributions from healthcare.

And the saddest part of all that? Many of these senators ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE represent constituencies that would greatly benefit from a public option. Some of them have the highest rates of uninsured people, but yet they put that aside and answer to their big contributors. It makes me worry about how much worse it will get if the SCOTUS opens up the corporate money floodgates, as they seem poised to do.
