And with that rude interjection, the Republicans lost what little they had of the American middle.
Has this EVER happened before? Speachless...
Good ol' S.C. I swear I am so happy to live here
All I can think about. Blame it on the Xanax.
You Lie
That was completely out of line. I watched as all those sourpusses sat there farbissiner.
WOW! I cannot wait to see the fallout for this! The Republicans are trying very hard to kill their party, aren't they?
How dare he? How DARE he?
(Pronounce those two sentences differently. Then pronounce them in your best Tallulah Bankhead voice.)
S.C. is really making an ass out of itself lately. I royally hate this state for many reasons, and that is one of them

C'mon people, this is what makes somebody a hero now. A rebel, with nostalgic sepia Civil War overtones. Dare I say it, a maverick. Whoever did it will be lauded.
The thing is, we're theater lovers here. And this is just theater. Bad theater with serious implications for the real lives of actual human beings. But the actors have little concern for this.
The drafts of the health care bill (and most of what Obama has done so far) should make Republicans very happy with the corporate overlords drafting the legislation. But everybody goes through the motions and the Republicans reject the policies when they lauded the same ones under Bush. The Democrats boo hoo about the evil Republicans when not one of them used their capital to stand up and say enough.
It's all B.S. and we are not important to it.
What exactly did Obama say about immigrants that caused this outburst?

That they wouldn't be covered by his plan.
Why do I suddenly foresee Hillary busting loose in 2012? You know she wouldn't have taken that!

He said that they aren't eligible for the gov't mandated health care.
Obama refuted the lie that has been spread by the GOP that healthcare will cover illegal aliens (this has been verified by factcheck.org). When he did so, the congressman from SC audibly called him a liar.

That isn't going to alienate anybody. They'll name a Stuckey's pecan log in his honor and throw a "You LIE!" day at South of the Border replete with "Pedro says, 'I may be seek, but I feel a leetle bedder at South of the Border!'" billboards.
It was one step short of him yelling "You lah...SUH!"
Or worse: "You lah...boy."
(Cracker stereotype. Sorry.)

IMHO, Obama handled it well. If he had gone off-script he would have undermined the entire address. Behavior like Wilson's was put in context at the end when Obama was speaking about moral standing and national character. O totally had their attention. I was listening on the radio - there wasn't a cough or kerfluffe in the chamber and the applause after the remark about shaping instead of fearing the future, was the most substantial of the night.

Pelosi had said Wilson will face no repercussions. I agree that a large faction the Right will laud and celebrate him. Free speech! Free speech!
An hour ago no one knew who Joe Wilson was. Now, not only do they know who he is...but they know he's an a$$hole. Congratulations, Joe!
Well, at least the South Carolina congressional delegation has progressed slightly from beating people into a pulp with canes.

It's a badge of honor. The South is rising again.
Don't they need a new governor? Governor Loudmouthed AsShole would be an improvement over Governor Disappearing Horndog or Lieutenant Governor Self-Loathing Closet Case.
