Calvin - the character of Powder is what I'd most like to be like. His line about the possibility of communicating without deception is so beautiful to me. It bothers me that the movie got tainted with the brouhaha surrounding the director. I guess I understand, but it's a shame the movie got caught in the undertow.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

Uncageg - I LOVE this movie, and no one has ever heard of it!
roquat - you never should have to defend what gives you pleasure, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone - unless they want it to hurt, of course

I agree. That's why they make as many movies as they do..to suit people's preference.

DG...the movie just captured my heart. It is AMAZING!
And the "coming out" scene. Oh my GOD! Every filmmaker should look at that scene. I just cry. it is SO beautiful. And so well done.

Singin' In The Rain
American Beauty
Beauty and the Beast
Cabaret
Vertigo
The Lord of the Rings (counting the trilogy as one, sorry if that's cheating)
The Sound of Music
Sunset Boulevard
Heathers
And... I think I'm actually going to have to say Once.
Top 30 would be SO much easier, though.

Hey, don't mess with SHE-DEVIL. Ed Begley Jr. and particularly Meryl Streep are pretty funny in that. If you ignore the scenes with Roseanne, it's a really funny film...at least to this Meryl eternal fan it is
