I just read the short story by Proulx for the first time. And cried. And then had a friend call me and had to explain to him why I was crying.
I can not wait for this film.

Posted: 11/19/05 at 5:30pmI just returned from seeing "Walk the Line." I was the only person in the theatre under 40. The trailer for Brokeback played. There was SO much chatter after that trailer...lol. I can't wait to see it, but the folks I saw "Walk the Line" with isn't ready.

Posted: 11/19/05 at 6:36pmThat was the thing, I couldn't tell...lol. Lot's of 70-year-old chatter. I am assuming some slight shock. Although before the show started, one of the 80-year-old women said loudly, "You know, it's funny how people assume Catholic people don't have sex!" My friend and I cackled. I have no idea what she was talking about, but I wish I knew.

I want to see this movie too, but I'm only 13, and the film is rated R. Ah, well. I'll see it somehow.
By the way, you can read the novella on the internet by the link (Legally, of course) because the book was so short. Don't read it if you don't want to spoil the movie for yourself, but still...

Actually, he did. He picked up the Best Foreign Film Oscar for CTHD. To the best of my knowledge, that award goes to the director (that's how Pedro Aldomovar has one).

Yes. I had to look that one up; I didn't watch the 2002 Oscars.

Dagnammit, I just found out that BROKEBACK isn't opening in Toronto until December 23rd. I had assumed that it was opening tomorrow, since we're usually looped into these limited releases. You'd think they'd take advantage of one of the biggest urban film markets and gay communities in North America, but nooooooo.

I'm just so excited to see it after all the folks I knew at the Toronto Festival saw it and bragged about it.
