Our favorites here are Rachel Ray and Bobby Flay! Also, that British chef who made the healthy school meals. I do not recall his name!

That's really awesome, DG--i really wanted to meet her (she was in Pittsburgh for a boook signing in April) but I wasn't able to make it out there. I would have really liked to. It seems like she would be a really nice person to have a conversationn with...and I'd let her cook me deser any time!

Yes, this is true, Dottie. I suppose I should add my "likes." Obviously, I love Ina. I appreciate how often she makes recipes that have a minimal amount of ingredients yet seem to be exquisite meals. I also think her story is fascinating.

I really enjoy Rachel Ray's joy at what she does. I also appreciate the variety in her shows, especially $40 a Day. It was a big help on my trip to Italy last fall!

Giada has grown on me.

Oh, and Dave Lieberman is a stud.

I do like Dave. The first time I watched his show I thought it would be boring but he seems like a genuinely nice, cute guy who can cook. His recipes are simple, yet unique and pleasing to the eye and the tongue.

I definitely like him more than Michael Chiarello, who definitelly grates on my nerves more than a little bit.

DG, was that at a book signing of hers? Giada signed books at Williams-Sonoma in Washington, DC last year; you couldn't get near the place it was so mobbed.

DBP - my partner is obssessed with Dave re: food Network Hosts You Hate It used to be Tyler, but he doesn't seem to be holding up very well. There used to be a poster here that worked for TFN, and she said he was pretty much a fun-loving frat boy - and those beers add up!

Is it weird that I am oddly attracted to Alton? I mean, I normally do like kinda dorky guys--Conan O'Brien and David Hyde Pierce, to name just a few--but Alton is kinda cute in his own funny, dorky way. Maybe not physically, but...mentally? Am I insane?

Dottie - she was there for a signing, but I didn't go to that. She was also doing some sort of demonstration. It was mobbed there, as well - which is when I took the opportunity to raid the bargain book tents re: food Network Hosts You Hate

brdlwyr- do you mean Jamie Oliver, aka The Naked Chef? I loved him. I wish his shows were still on; they were fun and I loved his accent.

DG--I met Giada at the UCLA Festival of Books earlier this year as well. I completely agree...she is GORGEOUS and seems like a wonderful person.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate any Food Network hosts, but I am rarely ever able to sit through Sandra Lee's show. She has always come across as a little stiff and cold to me (until she brings out that glass of wine, that is); I just don't find her enjoyable to watch. A friend of mine brought up the fact that as you watch her show, you can notice her getting increasingly more tipsy as the episode progresses.

Has anyone seen Rachael Ray's pinups in FHM? I was not a fan at all.

The Food Network seems to have changed for the worse. The only real cooking show in prime time is Emeril's and he's becoming so self-impressed he's intolerable.

Food 911 has always been fun, but it's aired a weird times lately. And whatever happened to Tyler's "Ultimate"? That was the show where Tyler Florence visited various parts of the world finding recipes for special dishes and then going back into the studio to whip up his own versions of them. It was both entertaining and informative.

I'm suprised that no one has mentioned how good-looking Jim O'Connor is.

DP, I recently saw a new episode of Tyler's Ultimate, or something very similar. He didn't travel around as in the past, but it was still very good.

Although Jim O'Connor is good looking, he's another one that just gets on my nerves.

Tyler's Ultimate still airs, sometimes in the afternoon (3:30ish) but always around 9:30 on Saturday mornings. I don't like Tyler Florence personaly, but some of the dishes he makes on this show are decent.

But I can't stand the How To Boil Water chick...Jack, is it? The girl who has to pretend to be dumb she she can give the audience basic cooking tips? She gets on my nerves to no end and makes me wonder if she really is that dumb. You can tell, too, that Tyler gets really annoyed with her.

Iheartmygeek, if you thought Jack was bad, you should have seen the girl prior to her. I can't recall her name, but she's a comedienne, with the absolutely most annoying voice and presence.

"Negativity sells."

That may be true, but it also leaves an instant first impression. Having never encountered you before, I am left thinking that you, like your post, are negative.

I love "Food Network Challenge." I am always amazed at what they accomplish.

Dolly, I don't mind abotu primetime. Saturday morning is my time with the Food Network. That's when I watch Ina and Giada. I just wish they hadn't moved Dave's show.

Saturday morning is good for watching the Food Network. Though I think you kind of have to splice it up--there are some good shows on but not all in a row. For example, I love Dave and I will watch Rachael, but their shows are separated by Emeril's "Essence of Emeril" that just makes me gag to watch. I mean, his voice is so flat and his jokes are pointless, and he's just not entertaining to watch. Plus, half the time his food does not look appetizing to me.

I think I've seen Iron Chef Japan once, I always see Iron Chef America. Which I enjoy. Especially since Alton hosts. I watch it all the time.

Geek, my Saturday morning starts a little later, with Rachel at 10:30. Dave is on at 8 a.m. I love him, but that relegates him to Tivo land!

I love Food Network, especially Rachel Ray's $40 A Day, anything with Tyler Florence, Alton Brown, Jamie Oliver, Bobby Flay, Paula Deen, and Ina Garten. I love Iron Chef Japan. Those actresses and the fortune teller lady were hilarious!

Not much of a fan of Emeril or Giada (though Giada is starting to grow on me since I saw the second Food Network Caters A Wedding show).

It bothers me when Emeril says "oh yeah baby." Also, there is way too much sexual innuendo in his show. It creeps me out.

To DBillyP- No, it was the one on last Saturday with the two people who worked in the family pizza place. They always serve other people, so they were waited on for a change. Giada (and Bobby) were very nice and gracious to them. I thought that was just great. They were married at a hotel in Vegas.

Ew, so true thirdrow.

A few years ago I was watching Emeril Live and he took this litlte yellow watermelon and a bottle of rum or vodka (I can't remember which). He made this little hole in the watermelon and said "And now we're gonna make this watermelon happy happy happy!" And he took the bottle of booze and poured THE ENTIRE THING into the little hole in the watermelon until the watermelon was completely FULL of rum/vodka. Then every time he'd mention the watermelon after that it was "THe watermelon is over there getting happy happy happy." It was disgusting.

Between him, Sandra Lee, Rachael Ray and Giada (who are not unknown to be drinking a bit on their shows) I think that the Food Network Christmas parties must be pretty interesting. *raises eyebrow*
