Did you read all the Harry Potters yet?

Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About, by Mil Millington. One of the most absurdly hilarious things I've ever read.
of course I've read the Harry Potter books, LA! Many times!
Thanks Plum, I'll check that one out!
How about any David Sedaris or "How I Paid For College" by Marc Acito.
And though it is not fun and mindless, right now I am reading "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" by Susanna Clarke and LOVING it.

How long is the flight?
4 hours I think.
Beaverhausen, I just searched around the internet for Rita Mae Brown, and I'm surprised I haven't read anything of hers before! It sounds like I would love her style. Thanks!
edited to add: I'm going to Iowa to spend Thanksgiving with my grandparents. And I have the plane ride home as well, so lots of reading material is good!

I don't think they'll have movies. It's actually 2 connecting flights to get there (each one about 2 hours) because there are no direct flights, so they usually don't show movies on such short rides. And I love to read anyways!

The Shopaholic Series: Confessions of a Shopaholic, Shopaholic Takes Manhattan, Shopaholic Ties the Knot, Shopaholic and Sister ~ Sophie Kinsella
Can You Keep a Secret? ~ Sophie Kinsella
Summer Sisters ~ Judy Blume
Skipping Christmas ~ John Grisham
The Accidental Virgin (the author escapes me, I'll have to look when I get home)
The Notebook ~ Nicholas Sparks
The Wedding ~ Nicholas Sparks
I'm sure I've read more fluffy books, but I can't think at the moment... I'll have to look on my bookshelf when I get home tonight.

I thought all Nicholas Sparks books were unbearably weepy?
oh, they are! But they're light reads in that they are easy to read and don't require much thought.
edit: that comment was directed towards Plum.
Beaver, I'll keep that in mind and try to stifle my laughter! I still feel bad for the poor man sitting next to me when I was reading Bridget Jones.

VALLEY OF THE DOLLS
THE LOVE MACHINE and, my personal favorite....
ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH (Orgies, UFO's, sublimated incest, Nazis, Garbo-like reclusive celebrities, Norman Mailer-like macho writers, secret lesbian affairs...this one truly has it all. Unbelievable!)
Sure it's trashy, but now it's also hipster. And absolutely un-put-downable. Dip into a little Jackie this Thanksgiving...and thank me later.

Most of them are pretty weepy.... but I really, really enjoyed The Wedding and The Notebook. Only got a little teary-eyed at the end of both.

Borstalboy, apparently my school's library is not hip enough to have any of those books (I just searched)
. But I'll try to get to them eventually (Christmas maybe?) and thank you then.
CJR, I love Sparks. Have you read Message in a Bottle? I really like that one. And A Walk to Remember; I sobbed through that. (Both of those books are ten times better than the movies based on them, by the way).

Oh absolutely!
I'd read The Notebook well over a year before the movie came out... and found that the movie held pretty true to the book, thank god.
The Wedding is the sequel to The Notebook, just fyi.

Yup, I know.
I never saw the movie of The Notebook, I figured they would just butcher the wonderful book. Maybe I'll see it, though, if you thought it wasn't so bad.

I really enjoyed the movie.. I too was worried that it would butcher the book, but it held surprisingly true. Im actually going to get the DVD when it comes out.... (Im kinda wondering what the hold up is too, considering Man on Fire was in the theater at the same time as The Notebook and I already have Man on Fire on DVD -- clearly, because I love Denzel, but that's a whooole 'nother can of worms lol)

I agree with the Shopoholic books, they are great reads, really light and lots of fun. I also vote for The Nanny Diaries, Slightly Single and Slightly Settled by Wendy Markham, or anything by Marian Keyes.
Thanks for all the suggestions, guys! I can't wait to go over to the library and pick some out. I've got my list now! (liotte, I love The Nanny Diaries! If you liked that, you should read The Devil Wears Prada).
