'Night, Harris.
Nice party.
Pity about the Oscars - yet another forgettable year.
And across the ocean, Mumbai goes wild!
Hollywood is now Bollywood.

He was the Milk screenwriter I think! He was SO adorable and made me awwwwww SO much, with both his speech and when Sean won
Mmmm good night for Slum dog, 8 , I'm happy
Night All - take care =]
Thanks snl89. Well it is only 10:00 here so I think I will go out for a nightcap since I don't have to be up in the morning! Cheers and goodnight!

so when the five best supporting actors came out to present... were they the only group of men that the audience did not give a standing ovation too? how sad... ha

besides his opening, the musical number and the good-bye... hugh didn't really do much... i actually miss that banter coming in and out of commercial breaks that hosts tend to do... oh well... i think he did a great job... my only complaints with this year's awards ceremony was the praising for each nominee... that just went on way too long... the ceremony would have been about 20 minutes shorter if they got rid of that
I thought the individual attention paid to each actor was lovely. Maybe they should have reserved it for only the lead categories.

I missed seeing clips of the actors' performances.

wonder how Hollywood and SoCal would feel about more pictures transferring from India - obviously they make a superior product there and undoubtedly have lower costs, too
I was rooting for Mickey Rourke, but Sean Penn was a good choice too. Loved his speech! The little kids from Slumdog were so cute up there!
I hope next year they return to showing clips of the nominees. It was a nice idea to have previous winners compliment the nominees, but the result was that those sections just dragged on and on. It felt like the Best Actress category would never end.
I was really pleased with tonight's Oscar Ceremony. Hugh is just a downright tiger with that body and voice. Gotta love him. I have to say that the praising of each actor and actress in the different categories was really neat and inspired, but did drag on for me. The first musical number I liked, the second one; not so much. Plus I couldn't help but gag when Zac Efron and that girl from the internet showed up. Bleh.
I also thought the different movie montages for pretty cool. I especially liked the animation one. And I LOVED the Pineapple Express skit. Very funny.
Oh, and the previews for the movies coming out in 2009 look pretty awesome. Sherlock Holmes looks like it's going to be a fun movie. Same goes for Monsters vs Aliens and Up. Some of these other movies I haven't heard of yet, but I'm going to check if anyone put it up on youtube.
Sherlock Holmes and John Watson M.D. as lovers. O.K. it's a theory. Not one given much shrift by the experts in the Canon.
It just really changes Holmes. Holmes realy doesn't want a sex life. It's beneath him. So not so much looking forward to that film
Well I nixed going out for a nightcap!
One award I didn't think was deserved was for "Man on Wire". I was very disappointed with the film. After watching actual footage of his other walks, all we got were stills from the walk between the towers. No actual footage from the event the movie was about. And they could have set up cameras.

I agree! I loved the way the acting awards were presented. Showing the clips would have been less interesting to me, because I've already seen the films.

lovely... yes... but it took up way too much time and seemed to drag on forever!
harris, thanks for the party last night. Sorry I left without saying goodbye.......
I was thrilled for Kate and Sean. And Sean's speech was wonderful. Loved that win!
YAY!
Here's some comments Sean made backstage after winning.

I also agree. As much as I admire the technical artists, I think they should remove those awards and present them in another venue - perhaps on cable. Leave the main show to the performers, directors, best film. Leave in the special tributes and add lots of film clips. This way they can keep it down to a couple of hours.
I think the past winners acknowledging the nominees was a nice idea in theory. Not so well executed. Shirley McLaine and Sofia Loren- beautiful and poignant. Halle Berry and Nicole Kidman? Anti-climactic. For Anne Hathaway and Merle Streep to be praised by legends, it was fitting, but I don't think Angelina Jolie was as deeply moved by the compliments of her fellow tabloid covergirl.
