"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
I saw a really horrible performance of Phantom once. I had gone from CA to NY and was expecting to see Hugh, who I'd heard so much about. Hugh didn't go on, and his understudy SUCKED. There were actually about 10 understudies/alternates on that night, so masquerede sounded awful because of the weird combo of voices. And to top it all off, the Phantom's throne effect didn't work at the end.
I was SO dissappointed, but I did end up getting to see Hugh that December.
RENT... it was ok, but I was just expecting so much more.

The awful awful version of Pippin I saw last year...I'll never get that time back...
The key to the mystery of a great artist is that for reasons unknown, he will give away his energies and his life just to make sure that one note follows another... and leaves us with the feeling that something is right in the world.

Radioactiveduck, i swear i might have been at that performance of phantom of the opera. was it in august of '04? cause that's when i went...same story. lots of understudies, the phantom understudy was horrible, and the throne didn't work at the end. the woman playing meg picked christine's veil instead. i guess it was the next best thing. i remember her doing a good job. but the rest...bad. my friend who's seen it 26 times said that that was the worst performance he had seen!
if i wanted my money back from a show, it would have to be this really bad high school production of into the woods. the ticket only cost $15, but i was poor (still am) and i left at intermission. they should have paid me to see the first act it was that bad.
WICKED. I saw it two or three days after it opened, like an IDIOT I paid full price. The friend I convinced to see it with me would like HIS money back too. And service charges. We also saw Caroline, Or Change that weekend. If we got those Wicked refunds we would gladly send the money to any member of the Caroline cast.
