I liked it a lot. I heard some of the songs before seeing the show so I wasn't completely lost. I liked how they had the ending in the beginning, and then you understand what happened. Though I do have a question just to make sure I got it right-- (I guess spoiler if nobody has seen the show?) Toby is put into the mental hospital because they think he killed everyone, right?
It looked pretty full today, so here's to hoping it's grosses will be better next week .
Well, in the original, after Toby kills Sweeney, Anthony and Johanna rush in and Toby is carted off to a mental asylum.
I guess you can say that Toby was carted off because of that - but also because he drove himself to the point of insanity. His killing Sweeney has a lot to do with his emotionally fractured mental state, especially after witnessing what Sweeney does to Mrs. Lovett.
Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I really hate living on the west coast. Since Micheal and Patti are leaving in November, it's pretty clear that I won't get the chance to see this show. Gahh, I've never even been to New York.
Sorry for that rant.
Opiv, you never know.
It would be a very nice 16th birthday present, but I don't think my parents would do that.
And it looks like the mods didn't like my avatar. Darn.
I'm surprised I'm the first one posting this. You've probably seen it already, but just in case:

I'm so exited! It sounds incredible and like lots and lots of fun!
Alix, are you going?
I think my parents are planning a family vacation for that week, but I know people from here will go and report back!
Edit: I just reread the article...apparently you have to be 16. Oh well... Updated On: 6/30/06 at 01:31 AM

The show was great tonight, everybody keep rushing! The house was pretty full like someone mentioned it was the other day and student rush, I got row L, my friend went 5 minutes earlier than I and got row K. Definitely see the show again. They are all top notch.
And since this is his love thread and you all get fascinated by his interesting choice of fashion, Manoel came out in these fancy-ish dress shoes, but with summer attire. Idk, I'm not a guru on any of that stuff, but I thought it was quite out of the ordinary. Michael came out in capris too, I think this cast is paving the way for some fashionable summer trends.
Assuming it's ok with my parents, which I'm pretty sure it will be, YES! It works out perfectly because I come home from vacation just a few days before.
Thanks for the update, C! Glad to hear the house was full.
I'm treating my mom to the show next Friday. I'm *really* excited for her to see it - and I think she's getting pretty excited too, which makes me happy. I don't think it's like anything she's seen before, so we'll see how it goes.
And dress shoes with summer clothes? Hmm.
The show was great tonight, everybody keep rushing!
I think I'm rushing again on Wednesday (matinee).
I would love to go to that concert. I just have to run it by my dad.
Which reminds me, I have to make reservations for Sept. 25 (Joe's Pub)...would they take them this early?
I'd be shocked if they take them this early. I even think two weeks before is too early. Last time I made mine the Friday before, and it worked out great.
I was talking to my friend about it today and I was saying how strange it was to even sell the tickets this early. As long as I don't forget to make them (which I highly doubt, considering how insane I can get about random things), I'll probably make it during the week before.
(And thank you for answer my question. )

The plus of it all that made me really happy for the cast was how receptive the audience was. After the Tony I would imagine how a cast would react after being robbed of some gold and better sales. However, Patti was talky after the show, the cast was so happy at the stagedoor, the audience was screaming for them at the end, people stood before John Arbo and Diana DiMarzio even walked through the door.
They entered happily and I am glad that those two who are deserving of the love and praise got some tonight. Usually when I go the audiences go wild, but I have never seen it reach this extent. The casts face were just so bright and were able to look around at an entirely standing house. So happy for them tonight.
I hope to go to that show they are going to have at Bowery Ballroom, sounds like a nicely topped off group of people, even get to see Nellie McKay again!
One of the things I always think about when I see the show is the audience. Recently, it's become kind of depressing to stand outside before the show and see the lack of people on line to enter. And then to sit in the theater and see the empty seats and watch them...not fill up. The energy that the audience gives back to the performers is *so* essential - and not because the cast is the type to not give it their all if it's a dead audience. It just makes the experience so much better and memorable. One of the things I have learned, however, is that just because there's a small audience doesn't mean it'll be dead. You just need that one obnoxious audience member with a loud laugh to get everyone else started, and you're good from there
I think I've posted on a Mano thread once in my life, but I'm returning to say that I finally saw the show tonight and he was absolutely incredible, as was the show. He was very nice at the stage door as well.
For anyone interested:
He looks nice in that color. Very cute!
Very nice picture.
Lovely. Poor Elphie's sister, though! She looks on the verge of being strangled!
::insert Jaws theme::
He looks not a day older than 23 in that picture. Lovely!
