Though their resumes don't warrant consideration in the same thread as actual theater veterans, part of me wishes that folks like O'Hara, Esparza, Creel, etc would win a Tony just so I never have to see their names in threads like this again.

Note: this is not intended to disparage any of the above mentioned performers, whom I mostly like. It's just that there are folks who have been working in the theater for DECADES without a Tony.

actually, she's been nominated 17 times.


sort of off-topic, but does anyone here think people wind up canceling themselves out when they're nominated the same year for two projects? like how Jane Greenwood was nominated in 1994 for costume design for both Passion and She Loves Me?

Madbrian, I don't disagree with you, but that's sort of the nature of the business. A Tony-nominated role comes about through talent but a heaping amount of luck too that one's role just happened to be one that caught the nomination commitee's fancy. Just look at all the great Hollywood actors that never came close to getting an Oscar--especially those incredible character actors, but many major stars too.

Raul Esparza. HE needs to even out his ratio. He should win one in every acting category for the next four years, that'll show the idiots who voted for DHP.
Kelli O'Hara, she should get a belated Tony for South Pacific, because it wasn't fair for anyone to compete against Patti.
