Everyone on this board seems to be talking about who's going to get nominated or win for Best Leading Actor/Actress in a musical, but what about best FEATURED actor/actress. My predictions are:
Featured Actor- Christian Borle(SPAM)
Featured Actress- Sara Ramirez(SPAM)
Also, my predictions for Best Leading actor/actress and best musical are:
Best Musical: SPAMalot or DRS(but I'm leaning more towards SPAM)
Best Leading Actor- Norbert Leo Butz or Hank Azaria( leaning more towards Norbert)
Best Leading Actress: Sutton Foster

I'm Alone."

I'm sure that it's been announced in one of BWW's numerous Tony-related articles, but I'm too lazy to dig them up and do research. Is Norbert Leo Butz going to be up for Leading or Featured actor?
I'm withholding judgement until I see all of the contenders... I have yet to see "Light in the Piazza" and "Spelling Bee", both of which are next month.
Norb's leading. I'd love to see him win.
Like I said- I'm withholding judgement until I see the full picture. But, as it stands right now, Butz is at the top of my list.
Musical-DRS
Actor-NLB
Actress-Victoria Clark
Supp. Actor-Dan Folger
Supp. Actress-Sara Ramirez
Book-Spelling Bee
Score-Spelling Bee or Piazza

i think christian borle will probably get a nom, but has to look out for michael benjamin washington, jesse tyler ferguson, dan folger, matthew morrison... they could all give him a run for his money. actually, chris sieber too from what i've heard.
there will be a big race between mcgovern and ramirez for featured actress, but there might be some competition from kelli o'hara, celia keenan-bolger, melissa errico, ramona keller, megan mcginnis... i guess that's about it.
Melissa is leading. She won't be nominated, anyway, seeing as she was in a terrible show that closed ages ago.

mef, i thought the committee ruled her featured, not leading? and i don't necessarily think she'll be nominated, but i don't think she should be counted out.
mef- Wow. I agree point for point with your list, exactly.
My heart is very torn between Spelling Bee and DRS.
I hadn't heard anything about it, but she definitely was a leading actress in the show. She had the principle female role and was billed above the title.

i thought i remembered them saying that only tom was considered leading, but by all means i could be wrong (and probably am!)... i trust your melissa knowledge more than mine!
I did a Google search, "Melissa Errico + Tony Committee", and nothing pertaining to this situation came up.

ok, you're probably right. actually, she probably has a better chance in the leading category (though she'll probably be glanced over in both)... as i see it it's down to sutton, sherie, victoria clark... and then the other two spots are open to eden, jenn gambatese, kate rienders, melissa, applegate or d'amboise (we'll see what happens there...)
what do you think?
For Leading Actress, I would say that Sutton, Sherie, Victoria, and Christina (if she opens the show) are locks, leaving the fifth spot open. Melissa-being a critics darling-could sneak in. Dilly, Espinoza, Gambatese also have a shot.

i forgot erin dilly... personally i think it should between melissa and erin, i wouldn't want to reward eden or jenn or kate because of the vehicles they chose. but i'm sure we'll see.
My current predictions (in no particular order)
Best Actor in a Musical
Norbert Leo Butz
John Lithgow
Gary Beach
Tim Curry
Nathan Lane
Best Actress in a Musical
Victoria Clark
Sutton Foster
Christina Applegate
Eden Espinosa (or Erin Dilly if she gets decent reviews)
Sherie Rene Scott

i don't know if nathan will be remembered, and if he is it might be for his book, not his performance. i'm curious to see which la cage man gets a nod, though i think beach has a better chance with davis' dismissal... also, depending on reviews i would not overlook raul in chitty?
I want Sutton to win "Best LeadingActress." It would be really cool if Christian won "Best Featured Actor."
My picks:
Best Actress: Sutton Foster
Bets Actor: Norbert Leo Butz
Featured Actress: Sara Ramirez
Featured Actor: Christian Borle
It would be funny if Christian and Sutton both won, it would be funnier is Hunter had been nominateed for something this year as well.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang/Little Women/The Light in the Piazza (after seeing them all, I still can't decide. Chitty is all about spectacle, Little Women is a classic, and Light in the Piazza bored me to tears. - Wouldnt be surprised if it were LITTLE WOMEN or even THE FROGS)

Is Melissa DEFINITELY being considered Featured? Man, that is so wrong!

i pretty much agree with you lacage, but melissa's probably leading, as stated earlier in the thread... and i would say raul is more likely to get nominated than david hyde pierce.
Im not sure about the whole Melissa Debate - I have no opinion one way or the other. If she is lead, then Sutton will walk away with the Tony easy as the 2 LITP gals will split the vote. If shes supporting there no way ANYBODY will trump McGovern or Ramierz.
I really didnt believe or buy Raul in Chitty, I like him lots, just not in this show.
As far as best show, something is just tugging at me saying the Tony folks would much rather have something from LITTLE WOMEN or CHITTY on stage rather than LITP. I honestly think LW has a pretty decent shot at filling out the top 4 shows. But the true contest is between DRS & SPELLING BEE.

if i had my druthers then spam would never get a nod. it would be drs, spelling bee, piazza and little women.
