It's "Kristin," "Christine," and "now."
First of all, I highly doubt that this time around Charlotte as Cassie will be considered leading in the production. Second, if they do consider her leading, there is not an ice cube's chance in hell she will get a nomination. If we are calling Ashley Brown's reception lukewarm, then D'Amboise's reception was just cold. As you said yourself, there are so many stars to fill the spots. No way Charlotte gets nominated in the leading category. Maybe featured if she's lucky.
ashley Brown
kristen c
stephanie block-no that i think of it no
maybe Laura
cristine E
You have got to be kidding.
so I guess Stephanie J Block and Ashley Brown are out of the running now that Donna Murphy has been thrown into the mix
I really don't think Lea Michele has a shot considering most people have been panning her in the show...at least the people I have spoken to.
I think Ashley Brown has a shot. Laura Bell sounds AMAZING on the sampler and going from that, I give her a better chance than most seem to think she has.
carymetorent2, I saw SPRING AWAKENING Thursday night and tonight, and Lea is stunning. She gives a subtle, beautiful performance. I don't know who you have been talking to, but Lea is fantastic. A total pro.
Christine Ebersole
Kristin Chenoweth
Audra McDonald
Donna Murphy
Stephanie J Block
Debra Monk may take the fifth slot, and Lea Michelle is my dark horse.

thank you, carymetorent2! Laura does sound amazing, and I think that she will carry the show very well. And she is a young talent, which might be nice to have in this year's Tony nominee list full of many Broadway and Tony veterans. But yeah, here's hoping Laura will get a nomination- she deserves it :) Maybe not a win, but at least the honor of being nominated...yeah
Kristin enters... and... it's still Ebersole's.
Ebersole will win best actress hands down....Audra has won 4 Tonys already so the voters will give a 2nd one to Ebersole.
Debra Monk is a very strong contender for best supporting. As far as I'm concerned, David Hyde Pierce will lock the best actor slot down- his performance in Curtains is a revelation.
Lea Michele has no chance of landing a nomination in the leading category.
They would be smart to keep her the way she is now in featured. It is her only chance at a nomination.

I haven't seen Spring Awakening yet so I'll wait and decide about that.

My take?
Kristin Chenoweth, The Apple Tree
Christine Ebersole, Grey Gardens
Lea Michele, Spring Awakening
Audra McDonald, 110 in the Shade
Donna Murphy, LoveMusik
I wouldn't count off Jane Krakowski or Debra Monk yet. Though it's interesting to see how the category is shaping up now that the Tony committee has announced that Lea Michelle will be considered lead and Charlotte D'Amboisse will be featured (if there was ever a doubt).
Chenoweth and Ebersole are locks, Murphy and McDonald will probably follow but it'll be interesting to see who'll fill that fifth spot.
I'm questioning why people are throwing Stephanie out of the mix when they haven't even seen the show! I mean what WAS seen was an out of town try out! I remember when people didn't even use to talk about the out of town try outs! When they were truly out of town and not in the public eye! Which is the point!
I don't think you can say if Stephanie or Laura or Debra will be nominated...or even speculate when you have not seen the show...the product that will be on Broadway yet! Hell, when the show hasn't even been fully finished yet!

As much as I love Ashley Brown, I would say Laura Bell has a shot. She is fabulous.
You really want to say that Laura Bell Bundy has a chance to be nominated agianst Murphy and the rest of them? Nice chance!
KRISTEN CHENOWITH - The Apple Tree
AUDRA MACDONALD - 110 In the Shade
DEBRA MONK - Curtains
DONNA MURPHY - LoveMusik
CHRISTINE EBERSOL - Grey Gardens
Those are the 5 women we will see - I hope! All 5 having previously taken home the Tony.
Chenowith -1
Macdonald -4
Monk -1
Murphy -2
Ebersol -1
I think if ANYONE is questionable in this category its Chenowith...only for the mear fact that her show will be closed, and with Frankenstien on its way in - they could just wait till then to nominate her. Audra is indeed a brilliant actress/singer and if they love her THAT much could give her another. Ebersol has won raves, but she wont win any of the precursers leading up to the Tonys cause she won them last year - plus her show is strugling. Monk is a powerhouse and I know nothing about Curtains yet...and Donna Murphy playing Lotta Lenya, look out for that one - whens she on (which is EVERYTIME she shows up) - Shes BRILLIANT!
Ashley Brown, Stephanie Block, Lea Michele, Laura Bell Bundy, and Jane Krakowski (if that show happens in time) - are all possible spoilers, but I dont see any of them knocking out those powerhouses listed above, with the exception of POSSIBLY Bundy.

Is Monk listed above the Curtains title? I don't think she'd be considered a lead otherwise - her role (as most of the female roles in Curtains) is relatively small.
In the LA production of Curtains Monk was listed above the title along with David Hyde Pierce and the case will probably the same for the Broadway production.
ebersolE
and I wouldn't describe GG as struggling at all.
Monk continues to be billed above the title.
This does not keep her out of Featured contention if the producers so choose to submit her that way instead of Leading.
I thought if your name was above the title, you're automatically thought of as a lead? Someone explained it the other day.
