THE BIG HIT:

WHY IS EVERYTHING IN CAPS???

Also... just like the 2009 Tony predictions, it's way too early to predict these categories. some of the shows set for the '08/'09 season haven't even been officially confirmed yet.

Everyone is going all crazy over it on TV because of Daniel's Dick, it is way overrated already

I know. It's too bad Daniel's penis is getting more press than that actual show, which is brilliant.

THE BIG HIT: 9 to 5. Billy Elliot might have bigger numbers upon opening, but Dolly's participation, and the cross-generational staying power of the story will make it the winner in the long run. And I'm not just saying that because I heard the score and LOVE it.

THE BIG FLOP: 13. Sadly, since it's great that it's something different on the White Way.

THE MOST OVERRATED: Vanities, perhaps? Too soon to say, I'm afraid.

THE MOST UNDERRATED: A Tale of Two Cities. The comparisons, some of which are highly unfair, will keep it from seeming like anything other than a Les Mis ripoff, when it is a great separate entity.

THE SHOW NOBODY GETS BUT ME: A Tale of Two Cities, at least according to the reaction of people on these boards.

THE "A CATERED AFFAIR": [title of show].

I'm only gonna answer two because I haven't seen them and they haven't opened.

Hit- Billy Elliot

Flop- I think either 13(which I would to stay longer) or 9 to 5

THE BIG HIT: Either 9 to 5, Shrek, Billy Elliot, or 13. The reason I said 13 was mainly due to it's already ingenious marketing campaign: make a facebook like website for teens, and get a few teens into the show for free at no true expense to the producers. Both of these will get kids in to see this show at a rapid pace. In the end, those shows may very well be our Best Musical nominees

THE BIG FLOP: Tale of Two Cities, or possibly Billy Elliot. The reason being: the days of the English transfer becoming critic proof are long gone, and this musical has been reported to have been edited down for months now. If the edits don't go over well on Broadway, this could sadly be the biggest flop this year.

THE MOST OVERRATED: Equus

THE MOST UNDERATED: title of show, 13

THE SHOW THAT "NOBODY GETS BUT ME": 13, perhaps

THE A CATERED AFFAIR: Vanities?

THE BIG HIT: Shrek, 9 to 5 (I think Billy Elliot (like Blood Brothers) will be great but it will not work as well over here vs. London)

THE BIG FLOP: Thirteen (I love JRB but do not like what I have heard of this show so far...)

THE MOST OVERRATED: Equus

THE MOST UNDERRATED: Vanities (I am a lauren kennedy fan), A Tale of Two Cities

THE SHOW THAT "NOBODY GETS BUT ME": If it is not a big hit, Shrek. I have seen it three times and, although it is nowhere near perfect, it is definately an enjoyable evening (despite donkey/dragon issues)

THE A CATERED AFFAIR: Vanities or [title of show] (unfortunately it doesnt seem as well suited to broadway....to me it is like putting a forbidden broadway show onstage and thinking it will do as well as it does off broadway...)

Everyone is going all crazy over it on TV because of Daniel's Dick, it is way overrated already

The amount of press over the appearance of a penis has nothing to do with whether a show is overrated or not. The terms "overrated" or "underrated" signify quality.

After seeing 13 and Tale of Two Cities, I thought I'd update my list! I hope to see everything this year, except for [title of show], which I guess I will just have to sadly miss (or watch illegally, GASP)
THE BIG HIT: Billy Elliot critically, Shrek w/ families, 9 to 5 with theatre geeks/ critics (Just not as great as BE), and (hopefully) Tale of Two Cities word of mouth wise.

THE BIG FLOP: Vanities, title of show

THE MOST OVERRATED: None, I think this may be the best new musical theatre season we've had in years.

THE MOST UNDERATED: Shrek, 9 to 5, mainly due to BE

THE SHOW THAT "NOBODY GETS BUT ME": Tale of Two cities, 13
