"This season is way better than the one that is about to start 2015-2016 season. Really hope Rent is true. So far San Francisco is the only place that Hedwig is going to, so it will go on tour. It would be awesome is Les Miz and/or Aladdin go on tour."
SF is so far the only city that's specifically mentioned Hedwig? Interesting.
Got an email earlier this week that Houston (Broadway Across America) will be announcing shortly. No word on when TUTS will announce but usually they're around the same time.
Broadway in Chicago currently lists 15 shows coming into Chicago between February 9, 2016 and December 4, 2016. Most runs are for one-three weeks. Exceptions are The Book of Mormon (3rd visit - 6 weeks); Sponge Bob the Musical (pre-Broadway tryout - 4 weeks) and Hamilton opening an unlimited sit down production beginning September 27.)
That Little Mermaid tour in TX was a non-Equity show associated with Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS).
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) Houston 2016/2017 Schedule (I don't have exact dates just the dates of my subscription seats) so this hasn't been "officially" announced but these are the shows listed when I try to renew.
Main stage: Grease - September 2016 How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying - October 2016 Shrek the Musical - December 2016 An American in Paris - February 2017 Jesus Christ Superstar - April 2017 Fun Home - May 2017
TUTS Underground: Rocky Horror Show - November 2016
I know Fun Home and Paris are tours. Typically TUTS is 50/50 locally produced vs. tours so I'm not sure on the rest. Best guess is Grease is a tour to follow TV special and the rest are local but I could be wrong.
Broadway in Houston/Broadway Across America should announce shortly.
Looks like the Keybank Broadway Series in Cleveland is announcing March 22nd. And they've already announced that they're bumping up to a 3 week run for each show!
The last published total I saw, from August, was that Cleveland had 32,000 season ticket subscribers - the most of any Broadway Series in the country. That means that about 75% of each two week run is already sold out prior to any single or group tickets being sold = a three week run is needed.
Many things can be said about Cleveland.... BUT Playhouse Square and its multiple (beautiful, restored) theaters and theater companies is a major local asset and theater-going draw.
MISS SAIGON will perform on Broadway through January 15, 2018 before launching its national tour later in the year in Providence, R.I, followed by engagements in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Philadelphia, Washington DC and more than 50 additional cities including Appleton, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Buffalo, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Columbus, Costa Mesa, Dallas, Des Moines, Detroit, Durham, East Lansing, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Grand Rapids, Greenville, Hartford, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Louisville, Madison, Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Naples, Nashville, New Haven, New Orleans, Norfolk, Omaha, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Portland, Providence, Richmond, Rochester, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, San Diego, Schenectady, Seattle, St. Louis, Syracuse, Tampa, Tempe and West Palm Beach.
