Rent is often ok non-union since the characters are all supposed to be young 20-somethings, so casting unknowns who haven't earned union membership yet can work. Years ago I saw Bryce Ryness as Roger in a non-union tour of Rent. Now when it's a show like Gypsy where the cast is older I do tend to shy away from non-union productions.
Hedwig's two announced dates so far are both in California. Makes me wonder how big of a "national tour" it'll actually be. I'd love for it to hit the east coast.

I know, as a fact, of at least one venue it will be landing at on the East Coast in 2017.

I'm leery to say on such a public forum! You can expect an announcement from the venue within the next month, though. Apologies—just wanted to quell any concerns about it being a West Coast-centric tour.
Vancouver just announcers the Broadway across Canada season:
Newsies
Book of Mormon (season option)
Kinky Boots
Cinderella
I'm excited for newsies and kinky boots. Book of Mormon was here last season. Overall...meh. Was kind of hoping beautiful would come but there's always next season I guess

Does anybody know when the Kennedy Center season will be announced? I really hope it's better than Baltimore's. One week? Really? And Rent, one of the best musicals of all time, is there for THREE DAYS?! Please, Kennedy Center, have good shows!
