I heard if it happens it will be a transfer of the recent London revival and I think they were looking to bring over the actress who did it over there, Sharon Clarke.

That would be a coup; She’s practically royalty in West End circles. Though that production was marmite for audiences here. (Hopefully that reference travels!)

I don't know if it's wishful thinking on some Wikipedia editors part, but The Lightning Thief musical is apparently coming to Broadway this fall..
"On August 4th, 2019, it was announced that production will transfer to broadway that fall at the Longacre Theatre."
I have yet to see any such announcement anywhere. Maybe it's coming this morning?

The Neil Simon is apparently getting The Illusionists for the holidays and then going into renovations in January.

Playbill provided a preview of the fall openings today and The Lightening Thief isn't listed. I'm surprised there's not a lot of PR activity surrounding the show's arrival on Broadway. http://www.playbill.com/article/whats-coming-to-broadway-this-fall

Well...yes. But to be fair, the Playbill article is only going to list shows that have officially announced. And we already know that Lightning Theif hasn’t announced anything officially. That’s not news. The question we’re discussing is whether or not we will get such an announcement. And just because Playbill published a listicle about it doesn’t mean another show couldn’t still jump in if they could.
And simiarly, the reason there’s no PR activity is because nothing has been announced, and it’s “arrival on Broadway” is still just a rumor.

Yes, that was my point, that as of today, there is no official announcement and if there was going to be an imminent arrival, there would be no mystery surrounding it. I guess I didn't make my point clear enough.

A Christmas Carol in the Lyceum, which I guess is technically a new play?

Boys In The Band, Hedwig, and Assassins all counted as revivals, even as they didn't make it to Broadway until decades after they premiered. Having a similar cast makes it a bit more confusing, but it's a revival

My guess is that How I Learned to Drive will be considered for play Revival since it has been performed regionally for so many years now. This is almost always the case.
It will be interesting to see if Christmas Carol will be considered a new play or revival, since technically it has been on the Broadway before, even though this one will be drastically different from Patrick Stewart's one-man adaptation.

I mean it's a new adaption of the same source material, so it would have to be new. This version has not been on Broadway before.

There’s no question it will be considred a new play, not a revival. Not only is it “drastically different” from the Patrick Stewart production, it is quite literally a different play. It’s just adapted from the same source material. Just like To Kill a Mockingbird and Therese Raquin were recently considered new plays. And also the same reason the two versions of the Wild Party are considered different musicals, as well as the two different musicals based on Phantom, and the various musical versions of Peter Pan, and so on.

Posted: 8/13/19 at 5:44pmJust moved How I Learned to Drive to the revivals category. For Christmas Carol I wasn't sure if it would be a new play or special event (not for Tony consideration) but I figured Jack Thorne would probably want another shot at the Tony.

Posted: 8/13/19 at 6:01pmAll the marketing says "a new interpretation" and I don't think the Jack Thorne script has been around long enough to qualify under the classics rule. It's a new script albeit same source material a la Mockingbird, like JBroadway said.

First post in this thread lists all the shows for the season by category. West Side Story is the only other revival so far.

West Side Story starts previews at the Broadway Theater in December and opens February. Marianne Elliott’s Company is also rumored to announce it’s Spring transfer this week.

Also possibly Company, I don't know how confirmed that is though.
