Going non-union, and, presumably, scaling back, as well.

Just a heads up: the current Waitress tour is ending after the engagement in New Orleans this summer. I received a notice about it ending from one of the venues that had previously announced an engagement to take place there in Jan 2023. I also confirmed its ending with their PR team. Other venues that have previously announced it as part of their 22/23 season will be making announcements shortly.
Don't know yet if it'll return in another season or in a different format, but this affects the current tour. The limited engagement tour also appears to be ending after its run in Cleveland, but that's only speculation on my part. The LE has a different PR team, so I'm not in the know with that.
This thread is great for finding out what’s playing across the country, but I think this thread should “expand” so not only is it active when season announcements occur, but when we all actually see these shows! Most cities seem to have some rep here, why not post in this thread once seasons begin and everyone can share their reviews/experiences and whatnot! I think it’d be nice way to keep a good thread going.
food for thought!

Yep MTH - got notification yesterday from Houston's Theatre Under the Stars that they would not have WAITRESS next season. They are working on a replacement. Since they had planned a tour and not a local production in that slot, I presume they will try to replace with another tour. We shall see.

Is it assumed it’s because of the cast wanting to unionize?

Considering the presenting contracts with most of the cities (many of them small markets) were already signed and based on a non-eq guarantee agreement - that's a safe bet. The jump to AEA would have meant those agreed upon guarantees would need to go up, and many of those small markets simply cannot afford those higher rates. If enough markets say they might have to back out, there's not much the show can do. It's a very complicated puzzle.

Does anyone know what major markets have yet to annouce? I mean, they are all a mixture of each other...the only ones I can think of are Chicago, CTG in LA, and Toronto. I'm sure there are smaller cities I am forgetting, but those 3 stick out in my mind.

Does anyone know when Toronto is likely to announce? I know the Toronto season is on a weird timeline since the last show of this season isn't until the fall - but curious to know what will be coming in 2023 (other than Hamilton).

Ain't Too Proud was supposed to launch here in 2020 but pandemic delayed it to next month. I've been subscribing steadily since about 2006 and this feels like the first season that has all 7 slots filled with Broadway-proven shows (maybe thanks to the pandemic cancelling Mean Girls and I think Tina as well for the 2020 season, and those now opening back up and coming around again.)
The subscription prices do increase every season... last year cost was $682 for 7 shows for two people attending in the orchestra row W on the cheapest (first) night they're in town. It was a little higher than previous years, but likely because Hamilton was part of the package. Still a pretty good bargain at about $45 a ticket."
It looks like PPAC never rebooked 'The Cher Show' or 'Summer - The Donna Summer Musical' from when they each were canceled during the pandemic.

Subscribers got an e-mail a few weeks ago asking to let Mirvish know by April 24th if they wanted to receive their subscription announcement in the mail or strictly digitally. So my guess is that it should be coming in the next week or two.
The Kennedy Center has yet to announce or even begin to tease their Broadway season announcement. I wonder when they will be announcing.

No, they both closed for good during the pandemic, I think. (Cher originally was postponing to reopen last fall but never did.)

I've heard from a couple of people saying that the Kennedy Center will be this Tuesday (May 10).
Out of the remaining major markets, we have Des Moines today, Indy on the 14th, and then Sacramento, CTGLA, Chicago and Toronto (unknown dates for those four). Although they're more mid-tier, more Nederlander markets should be coming soon as well. And there are two BAA markets (Fresno and Albuquerque) still out there with no dates.

Not sure about 'Cher', but 'Summer' has restarted it's tour this season and has been touring. Since she's from Boston, and has so many fans from RI - MA, they should've tried to fit this in the schedule.

Lol, literally just came on here to post this. My city!
Super psyched for Anastasia especially! I've been dying to see it since it was on Broadway, and I absolutely love the current tour cast.
I also volunteer with a community theatre group in the area that does their shows at the Flynn (we just did Matilda last month - first show I worked on - which was absolutely phenomenal) so following that seeing stuff there hits differently, cause I've gotten to be backstage.

lol. Sorry
I forgot The Flynn hosted Broadway. I get it mixed up with the theatre in Concord NH, that claims to able to handle Broadway tours, but only gets 1 or 2 truck shows and half the tech ends up staying on the truck(s)
