I'm very curious to see what they do with the Encores! Oliver! next year. As far as I know, Cameron Mackintosh holds the rights - is this correct? Since 1994, he has been reproducing the Sam Mendes production from the Palladium during that decade, updated by Rupert Goold in 2009... I know there have been other regional revivals in the UK since then that have had different directors/designs/concepts. I'm curious what the Encores! production will look like, and who will be in it. Any thoughts/hopes? Fagin and Nancy are famous roles in the canon. Will they go with obvious casting or outside the box choices? I would hope for an established Broadway belter star for Nancy.

Gotcha -- I was making a statement on the tendency to go overly broad in the (supposed) humor in the characterization that Fagin tends to be cast for, not about actual casting or casting knowledge.
I'd love to see Terrence Mann as Fagin. I also know Kevin James played the role on Long Island not too long ago, if the city center wants to get really wild with casting they could do that LOL.
Encores will be producing a reality show hosted by Graham Norton and judged by ALW, John Barrowman, Denise van Outen and that creepy Dame Edna guy to find their Nancy for this limited engagement.

^This! I can't quite see him as Fagin, but would love to see him in this somehow (not that he would ever have any reason to take a bit part in something like this, but just dreaming of a fun little throwback or homage to the original).
