Yes, Ken Davenport is doing this for HARMONY post-opening, too, and he had a similarly funky schedule for ONCE ON THIS ISLAND.
I don't know if it will help but I suppose it's worth a try. It's at least something for the group sales bookers to offer, and it gives tourists a Thursday option now that PHANTOM is closed.

yep, was announced back in May when they extended ticket sales until the end of the year. Their new schedule for the Fall appears to be selling quite well and should give them a solid boost.''
Once HARMONY opens, they'll be two Broadway shows playing Thursday matinees.

So smart. Beautiful Noise matinees are selling very well.
I wish pop stars would start doing concerts at 2pm rather than 8pm toooooooooooooo

Im pretty sure Alex Edelman also had tremendous success with this-- he did a Thursday 5pm show and lots of older (or just plain tired!) folks flocked to it.

I’ve often wondered how a 2pm curtain on Friday would do, especially in the summer. That’s a killer on the cast, but might get a lot of business from 3-day-weekend crowds or Summer Friday people or group sales organizers who don’t want to have to stick around NYC until after a Sunday matinee.

Yes, it's been discussed frequently in the grosses threads. I hope it works for them not so much because I care how ABN does but because I want more shows to have different days for matinees

Sometimes you just need to know your audience. I work at a regional theatre that often does more matinees than evening shows, because they know they sell better with their audience.

I think they may be on to something in this post-pandemic world. Also, when Harmony was downtown, because of NYTF's unusual show schedule that dodges Sabbath, there were several matinees on days you don't usually see them. I saw the show on one of them and it was packed, with extra banquet chairs brought in for the cross aisle behind the main orchestra seating.

I seem to remember BOM doing a friday matinee one summer (with only one Sunday show) but it went back to a 'regular' schedule after Labor Day.

FYI, today's matinee was sold out. However, it was the show's 300th performance and there were some decent amount of comps handed out.
