I can't believe A Chorus Line has 3 stars on Netflix. Some of the reviews are hilarious, though.

I saw "Every Little Step" yesterday at the Angelika Theater in NYC. Awesome Documentary about the history of the show's creation, creator, and an inside look at the audition process to get a part in a show about the audition process (for the last Broadway Revival...) They NEVER mention the film version. THAT'S how bad the movie is...
Wait for the DVD of "Every Little Step", or go to a big city and find an ArtHouseTheater where it's playing today...

Watch the various YouTubes and wait for Every Little Step. Also, if the touring company comes near you, go see it. It's actually a better experience than the Broadway revival was.

This is why A CHORUS LINE still remains one of the most incredible theater experiences of my long theater going life and why the show has become so iconic. This is also why it just didn't work on film -- all of the above mentioned can NOT be achieved on film. It just can't. This similar element is what will happen when JERSEY BOYS gets its film adaption. That whole 'broken fourth wall' element of the musical (the actors talking to the audience) can't be achieved on film and JERSEY BOYS without that just isn't JERSEY BOYS. That element is what makes JERSEY BOYS work on stage.

However, I must say I saw the movie BEFORE I had seen the stage version (Although I had the OBC recording), and after I saw it I thought "That was it? That was the revolutionary Broadway Musical that touched so many people?" I just didn't see how it was that moving...I could see how it was SUPPOSED to be moving, but I wasn't moved by it.
That said, I think a lot the actors do really good with the characters. I love the Sheila, Diana, Judy, Val and Paul.
