I have to say I'm pleased they're letting Van take over for Gallagher. Davey Havoc seems like a interesting piece of casting. Not sure he's a big enough name to really put bums on seats though.
When is Justin Beiber joining the cast?
Right after the cast of GLEE leaves.
My former friend is going to want to see this a million times because of Davey Havok. Now I'm sort of anticipating an email from her, begging for someone to take her because she doesn't drive or take public transportation.
I'm happy for Van Hughes. He really deserves this.
I like Libby winters, so good for her.
Just think Tazber, if they manage to pump enough artificial stunt-casting life into this thing for a couple more years, Bieber just might make his debut.
I'm no fan of the show but when I saw it Libby was on for Christina and I thought she was great--happy for her.

I personally love the show but am torn with the St. Jimmy casting.. On one side it would be cool to do a God of Carnage thing and have different people rotate in and out but at the same time because it's not selling well it might just be best to lay this one to rest
Um... Justin Guarini?

I think Justin Guarini is too old for the part. Is not Will supposed to be just out of high school ?
Esper is 34, iirc.
And Guarini is 32.
From what I've heard, Van Hughes is great in the role of Johnny, so this excites me for a possible return.
HOW-E-VER...Justin Guarini does not seem like one who would suit the character of Will, especially since his "Carlos" from WOMEN ON THE VERGE is still rather fresh in my head. Only time will tell...
I'm really excited about Van's promotion to Johnny. He is great in the role. However, I'm a little skeptical about Libby. I haven't seen her as EG, but I don't think her voice fits the role.
Onstage, age (within reason) is a matter of acting, not numbers. And Esper happens to be a very good actor (better than the show requires).
Could not be happier for Van- I've seen him as Johnny twice and he's absolutely fantastic in the part. He has completely earned this, and I am so glad more people will get to enjoy his performance now!
I adore Libby- she's one of my favorite girls in the cast, and I love her in all of her tracks. I thought she was fantastic as Extraordinary Girl when I saw her, but I do worry about her ability to sing it 8 times a week. She's only been on in the role about 8 times total before now, and that's a big difference. Also interesting that they chose to bump a blonde girl to that track permanently.
If Justin Guarini has to be in the show, Will is honestly the role I can LEAST see him in. Tunny I could almost picture. Will be interesting.
I guess it was easier for them to move Libby from the ensemble to EG than to move Aspen Vincent, a super swing, so that they wouldn't have to hire another person and teach them every track. It would have been awesome if Aspen was promoted, though. She's actually awesome.
I wonder who the new Johnny/Tunny/Will s/b will be.
Tony Vincent tweeted this tonight: "Im so proud of @aspenvincent tonite. I'll let her tell you the news... Major congrats are in order."
Maybe she is getting promoted to Libby's track.

I wonder what's keeping Stark Sands with the show?...
According to the vocal selection book, the cast members are NOT just out of high school, they are burnouts in their late twenties and early thirties, who have done pretty much nothing with their lives for the past ten years since graduating or dropping out. The aggressive nihilism they feel is not the naivite of the young, but a last ditch effort to live the lives they thought they would live before giving up and conforming to the working-class lives they tried to avoid.
