Posted: 1/12/05 at 8:52pmFunny story, etoile, on my way to the Beemer dealership I heard an ad for a new Audi that comes ready to play your iPod! I don't personally have an iPod, but somebody may give me one as a gift some day and then I'll wish I made the offer of the 1200 smackers to an Audi dealer. So, tomorrow, I'll head to the Audi dealership.

NYTimes explains all (or at least most)

Personally I found the article vague at best regarding a solution (and yet pointing out the obvious situation). As for the case study - I'm not sure it falls under "discrimination" but I guess that's up to interpretation.
I will say that anyone that tries to use the airlines as a model (not that he did) is making a fatal flaw given that the airlines are in serious financial trouble...

Posted: 1/13/05 at 1:15pmWhich reminds me, I have to book some flights. If I offer them say, 75 bucks for 200 dollars worth of tickets, will that make me more or less likely to be pulled out of line at the airport for a cavity search?
#204an unimportant whine from the perpetually oppress
Posted: 1/13/05 at 1:22pmWell that depends on when takeoff is - if it's within 5 minutes, you should be fine.

Namo, offering $75 for a $200 ticket will more than likely land you at the Greyhound terminal looking for alternative transportation. That's the way of the real world.
Now if someone there suggest a cavity search you may be a little more hesitant to comply.

I know! I had one of those once in the Greyhound Station in Hartford, CT in 1978. It took a lot of getting used to. Eventually I just sat back and left the driving to them.
Do you think the fact that I support Greyhound Rescue (theoretically, not with money because I don't have much) entitles me to a Greyhound discount?

Posted: 1/14/05 at 1:24amThis is funny. I was at the food court at the mall tonight at closing time and the Mr. Mario's pizza place was turning off it's lights and I was real hungry, I mean I had not eaten anything except the large popcorn (free refills, doncha know) at the matinee of White Noise, I'll post my review on OT)...so anyway I asked this bitch of a girl that since they were closing if I could have the pizza that was left over for free cuz I didn't have anymore money (got the Brooke Wonderful Town, can't wait to hear it, I'll let you all know what I think of it later.) So anyway, this zit inflicted bitch told me that if I wanted to BUY a slice I could otherwise it was going to the homeless. That was the "store policy." Pleeeeze, I know she was gonna put it in a box, and take it home to her lazy ass boyfriend and watch some dumb ass movie from Blockbuster (by the way, did you all know Blockbuster has stopped charging late fees? Weeee!) and laugh at me behind my back for wanting something for free. I will never go to Mr. Mario's Pizza again. Ever! Except for next week when my boyfriend Rod has his birthday party there cuz I was invited and don't have to pay and you all know how I loooovvvvee my PIZZA!

Hey gang, I just thought of yet another great way to get theater tickets.
Find yourself some honest gainful employment with which to buy them. (And no, picking the pockets of other people doesn't count as work.) I do hear that honest work is it own reward...and does wonders for the complexion. Now I know the job market is tight, and most employers just don't throw theatre tickets at your feet. Good luck finding those type of jobs. But there is always work out there and at least in some small way you too can feel as though you are contributing to society. Most convenience stores are always looking for midnight help. And that job's hours wouldn't have to interfer with your theatre going experience.
