I like Amanda Root, but I'd love to see Angela win.
It should be Amanda Root, but it will likely be Angela. People love to see Angela do anything on TV, like win awards.
Bea Arthur died, Jerry Herman is getting a Lifetime Achievement Tony. . . yes, it's in the bag and she deserves it!
I agree, give it to Angela!!

In the middle of all this, WHY hasn't Angela received a Best Lifetime Achievement Tony? She has devoted so much of her life to the theatre, has never come up short with the goods and is a true star in the best sense of the word. I hope she'll win, but, if she doesn't, can't they plan ahead for next year to assure that she'll get the Lifetime award?
I certainly hope that she does win, as she was brilliant. Didn't see the other nominated actresses, so I can't compare.
She was amazing!

Did they give her Lifetime Achievement Award yet, cause if they have not, then just give her one....if they have, give her another one!
I haven't seen The Norman Conquests yet, but based on the other performances, which I did see: I'm going with Marin Ireland on this one. Yes, she's Angela Lansbury. And yes, she's good. But...okay, did anyone else see her on a night when she was having a ton of trouble with her lines? (don't hate me) I also thought Ireland was just plain exceptional. Though I really wouldn't be against a Zoe Kazan write-in campaign.
Who's with me?!
Anyone?

Question: Would Angela really be so attention-grabbing if she wasn't named Angela Lansbury?
She's commanding your attention on that stage because she's Angela freakin' Lansbury. Simple as that.
Noel Coward is a bitch to learn at any age. I would rather see her on a bad night than the rest of the cast on a good night. Not one of them made an impression [the only impression Rupert made was on when he had his botox]. When Angela comes on stage looking like "Death on the Nile" or "Dear World," you are in the presence of genius.
And she was letter perfect on the night I saw her and the audience loved her.
She also deserves a Lifetime Achievement Emmy and Oscar.
Oh, trust me...I wasn't advocating awards for the rest of the cast. Though that maid was pretty darn hilarious.
I was very, very excited to see the show as it was my first time seeing Angela perform live. And I enjoyed her, but I felt underwhelmed. I also just found the show in general to be lacking.
If (when) she wins, I'll be quite pleased for her. She has a lifetime of brilliant work behind her; she's a peerless actress and an incredible person. That said, this year? I'd give the award to someone else.
Just remember not to look the other way and say that someone else should have it just because she is Angela Lansbury and has won awards before, either. I think the only people truly qualified to answer this question are those who have seen all 5 nominees.
That said, speaking of both Angie and Jerry Herman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1g5BstV4B8

I've not yet seen reasons to be pretty, so it's possible my opinion might change when I do.
Honestly, I'd lodge no complaints over a Hallie Foote win or a Jessica Hynes win, either.
I'm rooting for Root, even if I suspect that Lansbury will win it. Frankly, my favorite female supporting performance of the year - Carey Mulligan's Nina in The Seagull - wasn't nominated.

I think she's going to win.
